Escape to The Next Chapter untouched by Hurricane Helene, where your perfect getaway awaits. Fifteen minutes from Boone, NC or the art district of West Jefferson this 3-bedroom cabin has tall views of Elk Knob and Rich Mountain. Experience feeding deer and walking nature trails and a fishing pond within a short walking distance. Spend time reading or writing your ‘Next Chapter’ on one of two large decks that overlook woods and animals. If you like fly fishing, the New River is located at the entrance to this quiet community called Fleetwood Falls. Long celebrated for the arts, West Jefferson is known for its arts district featuring an array of interesting murals, distinctive public art, and numerous galleries. Visit the Ashe County Cheese Factory Viewing Room. Take your kids to visit the factory viewing room and see the machines at work. Next, have your photo taken by the trademark giant milk cows. Then, head across the street to get some famous cheese curds and a glass bottle of soda from the factory store to snack on while you walk around town. You can finish off your day with a refreshing local brew at Boondocks that can only be found in the tap room. If the weather is nice, step outside to the patio and enjoy the fresh mountain air. This brewery located on Main Street also keeps around 30 brews on tap with a heavy focus on North Carolina craft beers. Hillbilly Grill is good for breakfast. Blackjacks Pub is tasty if you like burgers. If you like Asian or Indian food, ‘Thong-Summitt’ is good, too. On the side street parallel with Main Street is New River Brewing. Saturday morning the Farmer’s Market on the Back Street is fun. With food, vegetables and crafts for sale. Venture up to Lansing, NC and ‘The Liar’s Bench’. On Friday’s this little ‘hole in the wall’ has folk music and some tasty entrees. Great folks to talk to! Lansing is 30 minutes from the cabin and past West Jefferson going northwest. Enjoy beautiful grounds, live music and wine choices at the Old Barn Winery 10 minutes from the Next Chapter Cabin in Fleetwood. This cabin has 3 bedrooms and 3 baths so sleeps 6 comfortably. There is a pull out sofa in the sofa with a writing desk. The basement also has a long couch and Smart TV. So a maximum of 8 person could be accommodated with these two amenities. From there, step out onto the large deck that runs the length of the house, where you can cook out on the full-size, propane grill or just sit and soak in the view of one of the ridges that mark the Eastern Continental Divide. It’s a great spot to listen to the creek that literally springs out of the ground just a few hundred feet up the mountain. But fair warning, the birds that visit the feeder may join you and you may even have a few squirrel or chipmunk visitors, too!brbrDownstairs you can retire to the two cozy bedrooms. The main bedroom has a queen bed with large storage drawers underneath. The second bedroom has a bunk bed with a full-size mattress on the bottom and a twin-size mattress on top. Fully equipped kitchen has dishwasher, drip coffee maker, toaster oven, Air fryer, toaster, blender and all you the utensils/dishware you need to make a great family meal. Cuddle by the crackling fire on the comfy sofa or rock in two large rocking chairs while you enjoy your favorite movie on a Smart TV WIFI for streaming, DVD Player. Heat AC.brThe first main level bedroom offers queen bed and separate full bathroom with tub and shower. The second main level bedroom is a suite with king bed, sitting area with loveseat, and bath with shower.brUpper level offers suite with queen bed, twin trundle, Smart TV on mobile stand, and private bathroom with shower and separate vanity area. There is a queen size bedroom on the main floor along with a full bathroom (tub/shower combo) and the king bed is upstairs in the open loft sleeping area along with a full size bed for additional sleeping. There is a 32 flat screen TV with a Roku device for streaming your favorite apps. The 2nd bathroom has a walk-in shower and is on the upper level with the king size bed. There is a stacked washer and dryer on the main floor as well.brbrThe living room has a couch and a comfy chair with ottoman. The TV in the living room is a 50 Roku TV with streaming apps and also has Direct TV with local channels. Enjoy the wood burning fireplace during those cold winter nights (wood not provided).brbrThere is a sitting area in the basement with a nice flat screen TV with Roku, a half bathroom, and an arcade video game with Ms. PacMan and Galaga and a vintage Haunted House pinball machine.brbrThe Tree House has a bright and open feeling, a comfortable living room with wood burning fireplace, and beautiful views. PLUS, there is a portable AC unit located in the loft bedroom area for those warm summer days.brbrIts central location in Fleetwood Falls, which is in Southern Ashe County, is a skip away from the Blue Ridge Parkway. The Tree House is also centrally located within 20 minutes to West Jefferson and BoonebrbrAppalachian Ski Mountain is approx. 35 scenic minutes away.brbrNO Smoking is allowed inside of our rentals! No pets allowed.brbrAs you plan your trip to the mountains, please remember we do get rain, snow and some foggy days and occasional inconveniences which are out of our control. Winter weather in the Blue Ridge Mountains can occur from November through April. The majority of our homes are accessed by mountain roads, which will be icy in winter weather. For the safety of you and your party, please be prepared to drive in snow and ice. This means 4-wheel drive, good tires, and chains. It is your responsibility to be prepared for hazardous road conditions.
