BIS-Duck - Spacious 2BR/2.5BA Poolside Condo!
Duck, North Carolina, United States
This unique 24-acre resort property located right on the edge of the Town of Duck, NC, sits between the Ocean and the Sound, and offers access to both. This is arguably one of the best locations in the Outer Banks for convenience and walking / biking proximity to multiple activities and dining options.brbrTHE SPACEbrbrFrom your unit you can walk to the Beach, Outdoor pool area, and the Sound. Or you can walk / bike to the village of Duck and shop or dine along the 1-mile boardwalk located along the Sound. In the evenings try not to miss some of the spectacular sunsets over the Sound.brbrThis is a very large 2BR/2.5BA lock-off unit at approx. 1,500+ sq ft combined. So plenty of space for your entire family or group. This unit is rated to sleep eight persons (8).brbrThe A side – 1BR/1.5BA: King Size bed, Full Kitchen with Stove, Oven, Refrigerator, Dishwasher, Microwave, Coffee Maker, Toaster, Blender, etc. Sit up bar / 3 stools, Dining Table / 6 chairs, Living Room area with Loveseat and Queen Sleeper sofa, and outdoor Deck with table and chairs.brbrThe B side – 1BR/1BA: King Size bed, Partial Kitchen with Sink, Microwave, Mini Fridge, Coffee Maker, etc. Living Room area with Queen Sleeper sofa, Dining table with 4 chairs, outdoor Deck with table and chairs.brbrThere is a Washer / Dryer in the foyer area shared only by the Guests in this specific A and B unit lock-off.brbrPOOL / OCEAN VIEW CATEGORY:brbrThe resort itself is Beachfront and this specific unit located in the 800 Building (see property map in the pictures section), has an outstanding Pool and partial Ocean views from the unit and the outdoor deck. This 800 Buildings are also the ones closest to the Beach.brbrFrom your 2nd floor unit you have one very large deck, with a direct view of the Pool and a partial view of the Ocean, where you can enjoy watching the Sunrise over the Ocean and the Sunsets over the Sound every afternoon. Then there is another good sized deck on the other side of the unit with a scenic Garden View offering even better views of the Sunsets over the Sound. Great outdoor space available with this unit.brbrFrom the 800 Building it is possible to walk to the Resort’s private Beach access, since these buildings are closest to the beach. However, if you have a lot of beach gear, or small children, your best option might be to drive to the parking area right near the Outdoor Pool and Beach access. This private parking area is reserved for Resort guests where you can conveniently drop off your family and gear, or even park in the spaces provided if one is available.brbrSTAIRS / ACCESSIBILITY:brbrMost properties in OBX have a certain number of stairs, so that buildings are elevated and protected in case of potential flooding that could be caused by hurricanes or major storms.brbrAlmost all the units at this resort have a certain number of stairs leading to the Front Door of the unit. Some have interior stairs to a 2nd level, or depending on the specific unit configuration, as few stairs up or down to one of the bedrooms inside the unit. The number of stairs varies depending on the specific unit configuration, and whether the unit is considered first floor, second floor, or third floor.brbrBIS-Duck Resort will provide assistance carrying your baggage to your unit if you would like some help.brbrFor this specific unit:brbrExterior Stairs to Front Door – 15-21 stepsbrbrInterior Stairs to 2nd level – 0 stepsbrbrUNIT INTERIORS:brbrThis property was originally constructed in the late 1980's and early 1990's. Recently a $8+ Million dollar renovation project was started, and expected to be completed in phases thru 2022/2023.brbrUntil the entire renovation is completed, resulting in every unit interior being renovated, you will find most unit interiors are spacious and comfortable but very dated. So while personally I would describe this overall property as very laid back, relaxed, and comfortable, it is important to note that these units definitely have more of a rustic, almost like a dated cabin at the beach type feel, with older furniture and carpets. Hopefully the photos provided give you a general understanding for what I am describing.brbrThe benefits offered by this resort are the overall amenities, including one of the largest outdoor pool areas on OBX. Next to the pool area there is an onsite Sea Glass Snack Shack serving stuff like burgers and hot dogs, beverages, and water ice. By the summer of 2022 the Sea Glass Snack Shack is expected to have licensing to also serve some alcoholic beverages.brbrThis property is definitely one of the most unique on OBX, with direct access to the both the Beach and the Sound, and in very close proximity to the many shops and restaurants in the Town of Duck. You also benefit from these spacious units being priced lower than comparable options of the same size in the area.brbrMany families enjoy their annual vacations at this property, however if you are a traveler that requires more luxurious accommodations, this may not be the right choice for you, and you might want to consider one of the more expensive listings on VRBO.brbrI am not trying to sound negative, because personally we enjoy this property, I just want to make sure your expectations match reality. So if you have any specific questions on this please don't hesitate to ask.brbrGUEST ACCESSbrbrYour unit is private, but since this is a Resort property, amenities will be shared with other guests (Pools, Beach, Outdoor Games, etc).brbrOTHER THINGS TO NOTEbrbr- Primary Guest checking in must be at least 21 years of age with a valid ID and credit card for security deposit. If a security deposit is required, it will be returned to you after Check Out if you have not made any charges to your room.brbr- Barrier Island Station – Duck is professionally managed and operated by Vacation Resorts International (VRI). The Front Desk is staffed for Check-In, Check-Out, and is available for any questions, issues, or need for assistance during your stay.brbr- Check In time is 4:00pm and check out time is 10:00am. Please check with the resort Front Desk for any possibility of earlier unit availability and / or early use of the resort amenities during check-in days.brbr- Late Check In: The Front Desk / Office is open from 8am to 7pm. If you arrive after those hours you can go to the Security office and get access to your unit. Then the following morning you will need to go to the office by 11am to get officially signed in and receive your parking passes, information, etc.brbr- Up to two (2) FREE parking passes are included with this unit, which you will receive from the Front Desk at Check In. If you need parking for an additional vehicle you can arrange this directly with the Front Desk.brbr- Bedding linens, including blankets, sheets, and pillows are provided. However, if have you have any favorites blankets or pillows, or if you sleep better using a certain type of pillow, it would be good to bring your own.brbr- If you plan on using the Sleeper sofas during your stay, I definitely recommend bringing your own sheets, pillows, and blankets, maybe even a mattress pad for the Sleeper sofa specifically, which can be turned into a very comfortable extra bed.brbr- Bath and Hand towels are provided for you and will be inside your unit when you arrive.brbr- There is no daily housekeeping provided. However your unit does have it's own Washer / Dryer in the unit that is for your use only. If additional housekeeping is desired during your stay it is available for an additional fee scheduled directly with the resort Front Desk.brbr- Each Unit will receive a "Starter Package" at Check In. Your unit will have basic supplies like toilet paper, paper towels, detergent, etc to get you thru the first day or two of your stay. However it is highly recommended to bring additional PAPER products (toilet paper, paper towels, paper plates, etc) and your own CLEANING products (detergents, cleaners, hand sanitizer, disinfectant wipes, etc). Due to the circumstances this year you may find that local stores don't have the full inventory of supplies you need, or the specific brands you prefer to use. I recommend you definitely be prepared for this by bringing your own supplies in these categories based on what you feel you will need for the week.brbr- Pool / Beach towels are not provided. Each family should bring their own pool / beach towelsbrbr- You should bring your own beach chairs / beach blankets / umbrellas / equipment you want to use on the beach. If you don’t bring your own stuff, you are able to rent beach chairs / umbrellas on the beach out in front of the facility.brbr- The new H2OBX Waterpark recently built in Powell's Point is only about 15 miles awaybrbr- If you or any members of your family enjoy bike riding, I strongly recommend taking your own bikes (if you have the means to do so). Bikes are a great way to move around the resort, and also ride into the Town of Duck. Bike rentals in Duck are available if you don't bring your own. Remember to take your bike locks so you can lock up your bikes at the bike rack each night.brbr- If you are interested in fishing while on vacation, there is Surf fishing out in front of the resort on the beach, or pier fishing from the pier on the ocean or the pier on the sound (both piers are very close to the property). You would just need to make sure you had the proper licenses though, which can be obtained easily locally. There is even a Super Wal-Mart when you first enter OBX at Kitty Hawk via Route 158, where local licenses can be purchased if needed. There are also many rental and charter boats for fishing based out of the various inlets if you wanted access to waters farther offshore.brbr- Pets are not permitted anywhere on or in the resort property.brbr- BIS-Duck is building a new state of the art Recreation Center (Indoor Pool, Hot Tub, Shower / Changing rooms, Gym, Activities room, etc), but construction is not expected to be completed until near the end of 2022.
