Sky Cabin • Mountain Sauna • Hot Tub • Yellowstone

Emigrant, Montana, United States

Perched above Paradise Valley with the entire Absaroka Range at your feet. Brand new glass-panel barrel sauna facing the mountains. Cedar hot tub on the deck. Fire stove built for whiskey and big skies. Inside: spiral staircase, Dolly Parton loft, record player, vinyl collection, electric fireplace & a freshly remodeled designer bathroom. Yellowstone's north entrance is 37 miles away. Come for the mountains. Leave having forgotten what day it is.brbrWe are available by phone 24/7 during your staybrbrEmigrant, Montana is one of the last genuinely unspoiled small towns in the American West. Tucked into Paradise Valley where the Yellowstone River winds south toward the park, it sits in the shadow of the Absaroka Range with the kind of quiet and dark skies that most people have to travel very far to find. Your address — Sagittarius Place — is not an accident. The stars here are extraordinary.brbrIn town you'll find exactly what you want from a Montana escape and nothing you don't. The Old Saloon is a local institution, cold beer, good burgers, and characters worth meeting. Pine Creek Lodge hosts live music in the summer and is one of the great hidden gems of the valley. A handful of galleries and shops round out a town that punches well above its weight.brAdventure is everywhere. The Yellowstone River runs through the valley and is legendary among fly fishing circles, some of the best dry fly fishing in the country is minutes from the cabin. Hiking trails fan out into the Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness in every direction. Wildlife viewing is exceptional year-round. Elk, deer, eagles, and the occasional bear are all part of life in the valley.brYellowstone National Park is 37 miles south via the north entrance at Gardiner, the only entrance open every single day of the year. Whether you're chasing geysers, bison jams, or wolf sightings in the Lamar Valley, the park is an easy day trip in any season.brIn winter the valley transforms completely. The peaks go white, the hot tub becomes essential, and the sauna earns its place as the best seat in the house. Cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and snow coaching are all within reach, and the roads stay passable year-round.brbrThis is not a location you stumble upon. Guests who find it tend to come back.brbrbrbrYou will have the entire home and 35 acres to yourself.brbrTHE SPACE AT A GLANCEbrbr Glass-sided Sleeping Giant barrel sauna — brand newbr Cedar hot tub with Absaroka mountain viewsbr Fire pit with Adirondack seatingbr Record player + curated vinyl collectionbr Electric flame fireplacebr Freshly remodeled primary en-suite with walk-in glass showerbr Dramatic spiral staircasebr 37 miles to Yellowstone north entrance (open year-round)brbrThe Yellowstone Sky Cabin sits high on a hillside above Emigrant, Montana, private, remote, and positioned for arguably the best views in Paradise Valley.brOutside is where the magic starts. A brand new Sleeping Giant barrel sauna with a glass panel faces directly into the Absaroka Range. Sweat with one of the most dramatic mountain panoramas in the West filling your view. Step out and sink into the cedar hot tub on the deck. As the sun drops, move to the fire stovw, pour something good, and watch the alpenglow fade over the peaks. There is no bad seat at this property.brThe main level welcomes you with soaring vaulted ceilings, warm wood floors, and a personality that announces itself immediately. A leather sofa, cowhide rugs, and a mounted deer set the Montana tone. Then a neon sign reading Home is wherever I'm with you reminds you this place has a sense of humor too. The electric flame fireplace makes the living room impossibly cozy on cool mountain evenings. The fully equipped kitchen handles everything from morning coffee to a proper dinner, with a SMEG refrigerator that deserves its own mention.brWhen the mood strikes, drop the needle on the record player. The vinyl collection covers serious ground.brThe primary bedroom is a fully designed room, bold southwestern wallpaper, an orange woven king bed, and a sliding barn door opening into a freshly remodeled en-suite bathroom. The bathroom is boutique hotel quality: a walk-in glass shower tiled floor to ceiling in dramatic geometric black and white tile.brUp the spiral staircase, the loft is presided over by Dolly Parton herself. Featuring floor to ceiling wallpaper, vaulted ceilings, exposed wood beams, and a mini-split for year-round comfort. It sleeps three: one queen bed and a twin trundle. Internationally Flavored Cabin in Paradise Valley, SW Montana

Emigrant, Montana, United States

Nestled at the base of Tom Miner Basin, the cabin offers privacy and impressive views of the Yellowstone River, Tom Miner Basin, & Paradise Valley. Close to blue ribbon fishing access points and many other destinations and 30 mins from Yellowstone National Park brbrReclaimed log from a 1906 cabin and aged barn wood creates a rustic ambiance with modern touches. The owners, Drew & Ellen, have designed the cabin with local materials and worldly treasures to reflect their love of travel and appreciation for local traditions & history.brbrWe welcome a wide range of guests looking for a rustic, traditional Montana log cabin experience. This cabin offers all that, along with enough modern amenities to provide you with an enjoyable and comfortable holiday. brbrThe cabin comprises a large open-plan lounge, dining room, kitchen, and full bathroom downstairs. A stone fireplace separates the kitchen and living room areas. In the upstairs loft, there is a cozy bedroom and half bath. brbrThe living area is spacious with comfy couches, blankets, distance sitting areas, and a 40 flat-screen smart TV for relaxing at night. There is an office area in the corner with a desk, chair, lamp, and wifi that can be accessed throughout the cabin. The library shelves contain a range of novels and magazines and books on Montana wildlife, nature, Yellowstone National Park, and other Southwest Montana outdoor adventures. There is a range of art displayed on the walls, including the owner's photos (for sale on request) and art from around the world. Rugs from India cover the reclaimed wooden floors. A taste of Montana tradition is provided by taxidermied trout and a found elk skull and antlers that Drew treated and mounted himself. brbrThere is a kitchen with all the amenities needed to cook and serve simple meals, including a gas oven and stovetop, microwave, hand mixer, food processor, various-sized baking dishes, basic cutlery, utensils, plate ware, and a coffee maker. The island is a good space for cooking, and the wooden dining table faces floor-to-ceiling glass doors for views of Tom Miner Basin and Yankee Jim Canyon. The tile on the kitchen island, countertops, and backsplash are from Dolores, Hidalgo, Mexico. brbrBehind the kitchen is a full bathroom with a claw-foot tub and rain-head shower. The stairs lead to the main bedroom in the cozy loft with a king bed and half bath.brbrFor relaxing evenings, you can utilize the gas grill and eat at the outdoor table or sit in an Adirondack chair or one of the swinging benches on the wooden porches. You can choose your view from the various decks and porches: out towards Tom Miner Basin, Dome Mountain, the Yellowstone River Valley, Absaroka Mountains, or the Yellowstone River. brbrWe do not have air conditioning, but we have fans, screened doors and windows, and blinds on all our windows. You can use these technologies in combination with each other to keep the cabin at a comfortable temperature. We provide information on how to do this if it is not something you are familiar with. brbrWhile we have screens, pest mitigations, and ensure the highest cleaning standards, you are in a log cabin in Montana, and in every season, you may encounter the odd insect inside and out. brbrIf you want to stay in a beautiful log cabin with enough modern amenities to provide a fun and comfortable experience, we welcome you to our cabin in one of the most beautiful areas in the USA. If you are looking for a different kind of experience, something more like a higher-end hotel suite or housing, we recommend you look for accommodations built in a more modern style with modern materials.brbrNotebrThe shed at the top of the driveway belongs to the owner, who may access the shed when needed. They will do their best to let you know this beforehand. The shed is situated away from the cabin and its private outdoor spaces. The owner will introduce themself if you approach them and only ever approach the cabin's private outdoor spaces if the cabin's or guests' safety is in question.

Step out onto one of two spacious decks for al fresco dining and mountain views. The cozy living area has a wood stove, comfortable furniture and access to a large hillside deck. After the sun sets, relax with a movie on the 50 TV. Enjoy the BBQ grill and extra outdoor seating — perfect for morning coffee or an evening drink under the stars.brbrTwo bedrooms, one with a comfortable king and the other with a plush queen, and a full bathroom (tub/shower combo) are located on the main level. Upstairs, the open loft includes a foosball table, two double futons and two twin beds. The lower level offers a second full bathroom with a jetted tub, a separate shower and laundry area. (Note: the basement level has a few closed off areas for owner use only.)brbrAccess the river via a graded path across East River Road to a peaceful sandy beach — great for fishing, reading or simply soaking in the scenery. (Fishing licenses available online or at local fly shops.) Breathe in the fresh mountain air, unwind and enjoy all that Elk Cabin and Montana have to offer. We’d love to host you — whether it’s for one night or an extended stay!brbrBy car, Gardiner and the Yellowstone National Park entrance are just 15 scenic minutes south through Yankee Jim Canyon. Heading north, you'll pass through the charming communities of Emigrant and Pray, with Livingston about 35 minutes away. BZN airport is just over an hour's drive. brbrThere's lots to explore on foot around the property. Elk Cabin is perched on a hillside, up a gravel driveway with plenty of parking next to the home. A walking path to the river is located just to the left of the cabin — it’s steep in spots and crosses East River Road, so please use caution. While there’s no boat launch access, guests are welcome to fish, swim or relax on the beach, depending on the season. (Water levels vary — enter the river at your own risk.)brbrbrPETS: Elk Cabin does NOT allow pets. brService Animals (SA) are always welcome. Emotional Support Animals (ESA) require verified documentation from a licensed mental health professional at least 48 hours before arrival. Guests are responsible for any SA or ESA related damages.brbrSAFETY: Elk Cabin sits on a hillside above the river, and the path down can be steep — please use caution and stay on marked trails. Do not cross into neighboring properties. Children should never be left unattended, whether inside, outside, or near the river. During late spring and early summer, river levels can be high and currents strong. Enter the river at your own risk.brbrOCCUPANCY: The main level, the loft and the lower level bathroom and laundry area are available for guest use. There are 3 locked doors in the basement level for owner use only. brbrDRIVEWAY: The gravel road up to the cabin is steep -- please exercise caution when driving. A vehicle equipped with 4WD or all wheel drive is recommended, especially during the winter months.
