Private Vacation Home
Hot tub, Woodstove, Views, BBQ, K Bed, EV charger
Estes Park, Colorado, United States
A perfect couples retreat! Hike into Rocky Mountain National Park from the front door, soak in a private hot tub, enjoy a wood stove, charge your car & stargaze beneath a skylight from a luxe king bed (21-ZONE3143). brbr`By far the best Airbnb we have stayed at` - AllisonbrbrA block from the park boundary (elk & deer abound) & 5 mins to town. brbr+ Eco-friendly AC & heatbr+ EV chargerbr+ Wood stovebr+ Beetle kill woodworkbr+ Big kitchen, laundrybr+ Mood lightsbr+ Walk in showerbrbrZen studio for 2, circa 2023brbr*** THREE IMPORTANT THINGS ***brbr1) The Wood Shed is connected to another of my listings, The Hill House. It sits atop the Hill House garage and has its own private parking, entrance, deck and hot tub. There are no shared walls or connecting doors, and the garage is locked off for owner storage, but you do have neighbors next door (legally a duplex). Please be respectful!brbr2) This is a 600 s/f open studio with a bathroom and a king bed. To make it feel spacious, I used extremely low furniture (chairs & bed). If you have bad knees, this will be a bad fit. The bathroom is quite small, but still has a walk in shower.brbr3) House Rules: Check in at 4pm or later; check out at 10am or earlier. No pets or smoking. Last, the cleaning fee is lower than about 2/3 of other units this size because guests start a load of dishes and towels on checkout. The savings is passed on to you. brbr******************************br brAfter hosting 40k guest nights across 50 properties over 7 years, I wanted to build something special and unforgettable for travelers to Rocky Mountain National Park. brbrI moved here for these mountains, and I sought to create a space that connected people to them. The Wood Shed is an homage to our local wild lands, and an effort to share my awe. brbrHere are some of the first reviews: brbr- `By far the best Airbnb we have stayed at.` - Allisonbr- `This was probably the best AirBnB I’ve ever stayed at.` Samanthabr- `One of the best AirBnbs I`ve stayed in. ` - Casiebr- `I can say without hesitation this was easily among the best AirBnBs we have stayed in.` - Cameronbr- `This place is FANTASTIC. We even tried changing our travel plans to stay another night.` - RebeccabrbrThe walls and ceiling were milled from locally sourced beetle kill lumber, with each single board telling a story of hundreds of years of rainfall, fire and lightning. I made the bench and coffee table from trees felled on my land. I scavenged whiskey bottles from a Colorado distillery and repurposed them into pendant lamps, and put a skylight above the bed so you can watch stars as you fall asleep. brbrWhen you shower, I hope you feel like you`re actually swimming. The brilliant blue tile is the same color as the glacial runoff found in Lake Haiyaha in the National Park`s Chaos Canyon.brbrTo honor our local mountains, I tried hard to maintain a low environmental footprint. The HVAC system is an ultra-efficient heat pump that provides heat and AC. There`s a level II charger for your EV, all the lighting is LED, the wood stove releases virtually no smoke, and even the toilet is one of the most efficient made. Solar will come soon! brbrThere`s a 50` TV and a Bluetooth sound bar, but I hope you spend your time here connecting with whoever you came with. Cook an epic meal in the fully stocked kitchen and enjoy the record collection.brbrSome of my favorite LPs await: Nirvana`s Unplugged, Leo Kottke`s 6 & 12 String Guitar; Bob Marley`s Legend, Miles Davis` Kind of Blue, Harvest Moon by Neil Young, and (can I kick it ) Midnight Marauders by A Tribe Called Quest. brbrIt`s way fun to listen to a these gems while the wood stove roars, preferably after a soak in the private hot tub on the deck.brbr******************************brbrKEY AMENITIES (check the amenity list to see them all)brbr+ Washer & dryer in unitbr+ Propane grillbr+ A/Cbr+ 2 person private hot tubbr+ Private deck w/ porch swingbr+ Fully stocked kitchenbr+ French press & drip coffee makerbr+ Blender, toaster, numerous small appliancesbr+ Wood stove (bring your own wood, available at the nearby Country Supermarket)brbrDRIVING DISTANCESbrbr1 minute: Rock Inn Mountain Tavern (best restaurant)br2 minutes: Bird and Jim (other best restaurant), Groceriesbr3 minutes: National Park Visitor Centerbr5 minutes: Downtown Estes Parkbr6 minutes: Beaver Meadows Entry Station, YMCA of the Rockiesbr10 minutes: Anywhere in the Estes Valleybr45 minutes: Boulder, Eldora Ski Resortbr60 minutes: Fort Collins (breweries galore; rafting the Poudre)br90 Minutes: DIA, Red Rocks AmphitheaterbrbrGuests have access to brbrParking spotbrPrivate deck & hot tubbr600 s/f studio brAttached & private bathroom w/ showerbrbrThe garage is used for owner storage. The yard is for guests at the other side of the unit.brbrEither myself or my management team at The Wolf Rentals will be here to help you!brbrThe Wood Shed is along Highway 66 only a few short minutes from the entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park. It`s a quiet area that sees little traffic, and the park boundary is within a quarter of a mile. This means elk, coyotes, foxes, bears, raccoons, hummingbirds, and mule deer frequently pass by.brbrThe National Park is just out the backdoor and the entrance station is reachable without having to brave downtown traffic. You can even hike into the park on foot. If you want to go downtown and don`t want to deal with parking, the town offers a free shuttle service during the summer months with a stop about 10 minutes away by foot! That`s a super easy way for the entire family to head out to dinner or enjoy local farmers markets and festivals.brbrNO SMOKING, NO FIRESbrbrMy home was about a quarter mile away from one of the largest forest fires in Colorado history a few years ago, so we are a strict no-smoking property. No smoking inside, outside, and no outdoor fire pits (now illegal in Estes Park`s vacation homes). Charcoal BBQs are banned.brbrROAD CONDITIONSbrbrEstes has a great plow team and our driveway will also be plowed during storms, but if there`s a huge blizzard, they may not be plowed exactly when you need them to be. We cannot assist if you get stuck and we always recommend that people rent AWD or 4WD when visiting us from October to May. We are at 8,000 feet and this can be a snowy area!brbrGUEST COUNTbrbrOur permit is limited to two people max. brbrBEARS brbrDo NOT leave food in your car! Bears frequent this area often and can break in!brbr* After booking, guests may be asked to review and accept a standard rental agreement covering house rules, safety disclosures, liability, and damage responsibility. This agreement does not modify pricing, cancellation terms, or refund policies presented on Vrbo and is intended to be consistent with Vrbo’s terms and the listing details.br- You are renting half a duplex; be mindful of noisebr- No loud noises or speakers in the hot tubbr- Outdoor wood burning fire pits are illegalbr- No pets, no smokingbr- 1 car maxbr- 4pm or later check in, 10am or earlier check outbr- Start towels in washer at checkout & wash dishesbr- Bring your own wood for the wood stove (available nearby at the Country Supermarket)
