Our family loves to walk there on snowy nights to eat by the warm fire! In the summer, there is an ice cream/coffee walk-up window a short distance away! The entrance to the Pikes Peak highway is just a mile away from the cabin. You can be eating lunch at Summit House in less than an hour!brbrbrbrGetting Around:brbrFabulous location with easy access to both Woodland Park and Colorado Springs/Manitou Springs. brbrbrbrCascade has a thriving local scene for a sleepy mountain town. We have provided a guide book at the cabin with all of our favorite recommendations.brbrbrbrWalmart and Natural Grocers in Woodland Park is 10 minutes west on hwy 24. Woodland Park is a wonderful mountain town with several groceries stores, gas stations and restaurants. It also has a public indoor pool with lazy river and lap lanes. brbrbrbrThe shops, attractions, and restaurants of Manitou Springs are 10 minutes east on hwy 24. Drive 5 minutes more and you're in Colorado Springs to enjoy Garden of the Gods, Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, the Air Force Academy, the Olympic Museum and all the fun and delicious new restaurants.brbrbrbrIf you're looking to venture further into the Rockies for day-trip adventures, there are hikes, world-class fly-fishing, lakes for paddle-boarding, state-parks, and the casinos of Cripple Creek all within an hour's drive! STAR GAZER MOUNTAIN RETREAT

Cascade-Chipita Park, Colorado, United States

STAR GAZER RETREATbrThe house has ample acreage and offers privacy, views, and mountain surroundings. It is about 10 miles north of Woodland Park and 30 miles from Colorado Springs, but the map doesn't show the exact location. brWake up in the morning and admire the sun rising over the mountains. Enjoy your morning coffee or tea while observing deer walking about the property. Take a short stroll along the old road to the red rock formations on the North end of the land. This is a perfect photo moment.brWalk to the big bald rock to see the old mine. Climb some hills (please avoid boulders) to enjoy a magnificent view and cell phone reception at the top of the mountain. But don't worry—the house has WiFi cell phone reception. brFish in the private creek; no license is required. You may catch a rainbow or brown trout. If you don't catch fish here, try the Platte River or Manitou Lake, both less than 10 miles away. You will need a license. If fishing is not your thing, try whitewater rafting on the Platte River. The river is shallow and slow in most places. You will see many local people enjoying this activity. brOr you may want to pan for gold and come home rich! The creek is in the old settlement where prospectors panned for gold during the Colorado Gold Rush. brIf you don't get gold, collect some berries and herbs. Make herbal tea with fresh yarrow, wild raspberry leaves or berries, and young pine needles. It tastes delicious.brIf you don't get fish or berries, get some steaks in Woodland Park, a few miles away. brMake your BBQ on the gas grill and enjoy the view of Pikes Peak. brDon't forget to check out the starry sky at night: there are so many bright and close stars. Remember, you are in the mountains, and all the stars are 1.5 miles closer!brIf you get bored on the property, venture to Woodland Park to enjoy local cold brews at Bier Werks or try authentic local restaurants. brThere are several supermarkets in Woodland Park, a Walmart, fast food joints, and many attractions. Check out the Dinosaur Museum, the Florissant Fossil Beds, and the Wild Wolf Preserve Center. If you would like to immerse yourself in Colorado mining and railroad history, visit Cripple Creek and Victor. They also have casinos. You may have luck! brPlease note: the map doesn't show the exact location. The property is in Woodland Park, about 10 miles North of it.
