This was a big home that has been duplex-ed and is about 1000 square feet. It was designed for privacy, so the entry door for the other home is on the opposite side of the house from where you enter. Very peaceful and quiet - the only house on the street. I call the area 'country suburbia' with houses peppered in the neighborhood about 1/4 mile away. While this home is open and not small - it provides a warm and intimate setting. Great for writers, retreats and romance with a big 3x5' sunken tub with three walls of windows and mirrors. If you have guests there is a futon couch in the living room with doors for privacy. (The yard is not totally secure for pet safety.) The sister dome is about 1200 square feet - and renting both sides is excellent for smallish events/retreats. There have been a few weddings held here. Location-location!! 4 miles to town.brbrThere is wi-fi/internet access and a TV for watching DVD's. There is a selection of DVD's provided for your entertainment. Organic or all-natural bath wash, shampoo and conditioner, as well as a hair dryer are provided.brbrThere is no formal check-in. I give you the combination for the door to arrive on your own timing. There are many hikes with 14,000 ft peaks and for all levels. While you can walk to anything in downtown Crestone this is a very remote area without public transportation so you do need a vehicle.brbrCrestone is one of the most beautiful places to be for hiking and spiritual adventures! There are many hikes with 14,000 ft peaks and for all levels. Also, the peaceful majestic beauty attracts folks from all over the world that come to attend one of the many retreats at the dozen or so spiritual centers. A few miles away are horse riding/stables. 30-45 minutes away are Joyful Journey Hot Springs - famous for it's healing waters. The map they provide indicates that the Sand Dunes are less than a 20 minute drive from all homes in the Crestone area. It is not exactly correct. There is a north entrance into the National Park that is a few minutes from our home but it DOES NOT connect to the main visitor entrance where you be able to hike on the Dunes. Please use Google maps to find driving directions to the Great Sand Dunes National Park Entrance from Crestone.brbrThe Great Sand Dunes National Park - the tallest and most amazing sand dunes in North America - are visible from almost everywhere on our property. Look to the south to see this alternate view of the north side of the Dunes. **Plan to make if a full-day trip to the Dunes!** brbrDon't forget about the Ziggurat (it's visible from our deck too).brbrWe are also close to several natural hot springs resorts with both family friendly, adults-only (with adult drinks), and clothing optional locations.
