Nestled sweetly in an enchanted forest rests this adorable cottage overlooking a beautiful garden from it's own private deck. The entire downstairs is yours to enjoy. You'll feel immersed in nature looking out from the floor to ceiling windows throughout. The space wraps you in comfort and reminds you of a simpler time where the chaos of life slips away. The house is situated perfectly on a gradual slope with a lovely view. My parents lived here for some thirty years. Being in the mountains of North Carolina, we around 4000' in altitude making for cooler mornings and evenings even in the summer. The top floor is the main part of the house where I live, and the lower floor is a one-bedroom apartment with queen bed, full bath, kitchenette, and living area. Your space has it's own entrance from a deck with an umbrella table and chairs with a lovely view of the mountains to the west. The deck is surrounded by roses, a flower garden and overlooks the front lawn with gardens, a red maple and many beautiful large trees. It is completely private from the upstairs where I have a balcony also with a view to the west (and gorgeous sunsets in the fall).brbrSatellite TV and Wi-Fi are included. Washer and dryer upstairs are available for use.brbrThe property itself is about 4 wooded acres and is located in the wonderful community of Scaly Mountain, NC, just 10 minutes from Sky Valley, Georgia and 20 minutes from Highlands, NC. Larger cities are about 30 minutes away, both Clayton, GA and Franklin, NC. Scaly Mountain is in the Nantahala National Forest. The mountains of Southwestern NC are one of the most beautiful areas outside of the Smokies, according to Google. There is hiking on a forest road right from the house and there are a variety of hiking trails and waterfalls within a short drive, as well as the Highlands Outpost (formerly known as the Scaly Mountain Outdoor Center) with all season tubing (on snow in season), a recently added and very popular Alpine Coaster, trout pond and more. Also nearby is the highly rated Highlands Aerial Park for ziplining, trails with a suspension bridge, and several other optional activities. They even have a special short zip loop about 10 feet off the ground for the youngest kids who stay tethered and just go round and round and have a blast with their parents right there. So fun to just watch them having a blast.brbrScaly Mountain has two good restaurants, Bella's Junction Café, and The Blue Hound Barbeque. And in nearby Dillard (15-20 minutes away): the Dillard House, The Hush (Cuban Kitchen and Bar), La Cabana Mexican Restaurant, Valley Café, Cupboard Café, and Julep Farm. There's a great many eating out choices in Highlands and Clayton, too.

Since our driveway is gravel and steep, we recommend that you drive a 4X4 or a vehicle with good traction. No low to the ground vehicles or motorcycles!! You will see that it was worth the drive upon arrival at your secluded and peaceful retreat where wonderful memories are waiting to be made!!brbrWalk up on the porch that wraps around three sides of the cottage. Grab a cup of coffee, sit on the porch awhile, and enjoy the views of Rabun Bald and Alex Mountain. Chances are you will hear the gobble of a turkey, the hoot of an owl, or the sweet call of a dove. Enter Mountaintop Memories Cottage with a keyless entry. This cottage offers 2 BR, 1 BA, a full kitchen, dining and living area, and laundry room with washer and dryer. The living area is open to the dining and kitchen with plenty of seating for lounging, eating, or playing a game. We have a good variety of books, games, and puzzles to enjoy!! Watch a movie or your favorite show on the 50 Roku TV that is visible from the entire living area. A bonus for our mountain location is that we offer Starlink Wi-fi to keep you connected with your devices. The kitchen is stocked with all appliances as well as a k-cup Keurig coffee pot, tea kettle, waffle maker, air fryer, cookware, serving dishes, cooking and eating utensils, and items for the outdoor gas grill located on the side of the cottage under the covered porch. We have included a beverage bar with a variety of coffee k-cups, flavor syrups and creamers, various teas, honey/sweeteners, and cold beverages in the refrigerator. Also provided are olive oil, salt, pepper, and various spices that you might forget to bring. Dish washer tablets, dish soap, hand soap, all-purpose cleaner, aluminum foil, clear wrap, and ziplock bags are provided for your convenience. Down the hallway, the main bedroom is located with a queen bed and a Roku TV. Located directly across the hall from the main bedroom is the second bedroom that includes a double bed and a Roku TV.
