Mountaintop Memories Cottage

You are invited to come and stay at our little cozy cottage in the mountains. Make an escape from the chaos and travel the long winding well maintained driveway up the mountain surrounded by private property and US Forest land. Since our driveway is gravel and steep, we recommend that you drive a 4X4 or a vehicle with good traction. No low to the ground vehicles or motorcycles!! You will see that it was worth the drive upon arrival at your secluded and peaceful retreat where wonderful memories are waiting to be made!!

Walk up on the porch that wraps around three sides of the cottage. Grab a cup of coffee, sit on the porch awhile, and enjoy the views of Rabun Bald and Alex Mountain. Chances are you will hear the gobble of a turkey, the hoot of an owl, or the sweet call of a dove. Enter Mountaintop Memories Cottage with a keyless entry. This cottage offers 2 BR, 1 BA, a full kitchen, dining and living area, and laundry room with washer and dryer. The living area is open to the dining and kitchen with plenty of seating for lounging, eating, or playing a game. We have a good variety of books, games, and puzzles to enjoy!! Watch a movie or your favorite show on the 50 Roku TV that is visible from the entire living area. A bonus for our mountain location is that we offer Starlink Wi-fi to keep you connected with your devices. The kitchen is stocked with all appliances as well as a k-cup Keurig coffee pot, tea kettle, waffle maker, air fryer, cookware, serving dishes, cooking and eating utensils, and items for the outdoor gas grill located on the side of the cottage under the covered porch. We have included a beverage bar with a variety of coffee k-cups, flavor syrups and creamers, various teas, honey/sweeteners, and cold beverages in the refrigerator. Also provided are olive oil, salt, pepper, and various spices that you might forget to bring. Dish washer tablets, dish soap, hand soap, all-purpose cleaner, aluminum foil, clear wrap, and ziplock bags are provided for your convenience. Down the hallway, the main bedroom is located with a queen bed and a Roku TV. Located directly across the hall from the main bedroom is the second bedroom that includes a double bed and a Roku TV. If you are traveling with additional children, there is room for a queen air mattress in the living room. Contact me if you have questions or need additional linens, I will be more than happy to accommodate you. Bed linens, extra blankets, and towels are provided along with complimentary soap, shampoo, paper products, and laundry supplies are all included with your stay.

Enjoy the cool evenings at the brand new stone fire pit area sitting in vintage outdoor furniture. You will get to enjoy the crisp mountain air, the smell of the fire, the sound of the katydids, and the feeling of peace and pure relaxation!!! Firewood will be provided for you under the covered shed in the dry. All you need is your S'more ingredients!! Located next to the fire pit area is a horseshoe pit ready for some friendly competition!!

If you like beautiful mountain views, you will love this cottage. It is up a steep gravel one lane road. My large, two wheel drive SUV did okay with that but putting it in low gear helped a little more. You must go very slowly and watch for ruts and holes in the road. Thankfully, I never met another vehicle coming in the opposite direction as there are deep ruts on each side of the road. But the Fall colors were on full display and we did not want to leave. Beautifull cottage inside. Turning on the shower was a challenge as I had never seen a tub faucet turning on the shower that way. Visited mountain towns nearby and enjoyed every minute.

We traveled from Moncks Corner, SC (approx 30 miles north of Charleston, SC) to hike. We frequently visit the mountains of NC/GA/TN several times a year. We like to stay in cabins with views, and this cabin does have the views exactly as depicted. The cabin was neat, uncluttered and clean! The cabin is located close to nearby towns, an Ingles grocery store and restaurants. But you are up the mountainside, and we didn't run out back and forth during the day. The gravel driveway is steep and narrow but since it is a private driveway, we didn't worry about passing vehicles and our Subaru Outback did just fine. We got up each day and left in the morning to hike and made our way back to the cabin before dark. We hiked the Tennessee Rock Trail at Black Rock Mountain State Park (GA); Secret Falls in Highlands; Scaly Mountain from the Osage Overlook; Whiteside Mountain Trail (all in NC) and the Tallulah Gorge State Park (GA). We ate one meal at the Dillard House Restaurant and prepared the rest of our meals in the cabin. The hosts were very responsive and helpful if needed, and you will find many thoughtful preparations/suggestions at the cabin. We enjoyed our stay and you will too.

Everything about this cottage was absolutely a dream come true! Immaculately clean. Great bedding and pillows! Well-appointed in every way! It was the perfect hideaway for being snowed-in with a great view of the mountains. The hosts were very responsive, communicative and friendly! The fire-pit was stocked with tons of firewood, kindling, and a little lean-to to stay dry from the snow. It is a hidden gem and we will be back!

The host was incredible with communication and working with us when we had an unexpected change in plans. The house was so beautiful, including the Christmas decorations! It was warm, inviting, and exceptionally clean. The host thought of small touches throughout the house that made it so relaxing. The firepit is a quaint area that is perfect for roasting hot dogs and marshmallows. The view was amazing, and the house is so convenient to Dillard and Clayton. We would most certainly stay there again!

Stop right here and quit reading Vrbo reviews just book this one before it’s too late! (Unless you’re thinking about the same week I am… in that case, this place stinks ) Perfect Peaceful Mountain Escape- Even My Homebody Husband Loved It! My husband hates taking off work, so family vacations are rare — and when we finally convince him, it has to be perfect! My daughter and I spent hours scrolling through listings. Our “home away from home” had to check every box: for my husband, close(ish) to home and very private; for my daughter, mountain views and a hot tub; for me, cute, clean, peaceful, and a good deal. This place met every requirement and then some. No hot tub, but she loved the firepit, string lights, and horseshoes instead. It was spotless, cozy, and thoughtfully stocked. We loved the books (especially Foxfire), the Lincoln Logs, the coffee/tea station, and the surprise waffle maker with mix. The host even provided shampoo, conditioner, body wash, Q-tips, and drinks. It was peaceful and exactly what we needed. My husband, who never wants to travel, said we could come back—and he’s already shared the link! Grab groceries before heading up; once you arrive, you won’t want to leave. Truly a five-star stay—relaxing, private, and everything we hoped for.

The cottage was immaculately clean and cozy. The hosts thought of every little detail. The view is beautiful, a rare find for a smaller cabin. We rented a truck with 4-wheel drive to get up there and I’m glad we did. The driveway is steep and made of gravel. But it’s worth it! The area around the cottage is flat, so parking is easy as is access to the fire pit. We have rented a few little cabins in the area and this was our favorite!

Misty Mountains, just beautiful! Best hosts I have ever come across. You feel really welcome by all the personal touches throughout. Checked all my boxes, such as good shower pressure, comfy bed, linens and great pillows. Well stocked kitchen. Centrally located with tons to do. After a rain, we saw 7 turkeys come out to dry their feathers. We didn't find the road too bad but can see why an AWD is recommended and no low riders. We will return )

We had the most incredible stay at Crystal’s cottage—hands down the best VRBO we’ve ever booked! From the serene views to the cozy, beautifully kept home, every detail was thoughtfully designed to make us feel welcome and comfortable. The space was spotless, the close-out instructions were simple and easy to follow, and Crystal’s quick and friendly communication made everything stress-free from start to finish. The personal touches (waffle mix, games, puzzles, the coffee/tea station, and the super helpful welcome binder) truly made it feel like a home away from home. We left feeling refreshed and already can’t wait to return. Next time we’d love to bring our kids, and we’re even planning to send my parents here as an anniversary gift after they gifted us this stay. That’s how special this place is!The location is superb—it feels like a peaceful escape tucked away in nature, yet it’s still so convenient to hiking trails, restaurants, and grocery stores. It was the perfect balance of seclusion and accessibility, making it easy to relax without ever feeling too far from anything we needed.Crystal and her family have created such a warm, inviting space, and we’re so grateful they shared it with us.
