Up above, through the metal spiral staircase, you'll find a loft space overlooking the main area of the home with a bedroom on either side (Full, 2 Twins) and an additional bathroom. brThis home has two parking areas, an open deck, and a lower level with access to the laundry. Take in the mountain views from the back porch of our charming two-bedroom, two-bathroom cabin. Enjoy rocking on the porch and relaxing by the fire. Only a 3-mile drive from the grocery store and 3.5 miles to downtown Highlands, it is also in convenient proximity to area hiking and waterfalls.brbrInside, the primary bedroom offers a king-sized bed and ensuite full bathroom with a shower. The second full-bathroom is off the main hallway and has a tub. The second bedroom is off the kitchen area and has a daybed with a trundle bed (2 twins). Laundry room is located off the second bedroom. There is also a door that opens from the second bedroom to the front porch/carport area. The kitchen is well-stocked with cooking essentials and the living room features a television (inside white cabinet in living room), X-Box 360 for games and to watch DVDs as well as a selection of puzzles, games, etc.brbrEXTRA GOODIES: In the garage you’ll find a dart board in the wall. There is also a storage room with a bean bag toss game. Firewood can be purchased by the bundle at gas stations, grocery stores or Highlands Lawn and Garden Center.brbrPLEASE NOTE: br- Our cabin is located in a residential area with many neighbors that live here year-round. Please be courteous to neighbors.br- You will not have cell or internet service upon arrival. I suggest connecting to WIFI as soon as you arrive. Make sure WIFI calling is enabled on your phone. Short text messages work best for quick communication. Email works well too. Cell calls work best from the 2nd bedroom by the garage to all the way up the driveway. We do have satellite internet to the Roku TV to stream your favorite shows, but it is not always dependable. Be patient as it can take time to load. Certain apps seem to work better than others and there is usually some buffering time. Loading your shows ahead of time can help. But, again PLEASE NOTE, the WIFI is not always dependable. br- We allow pets for $50 per stay. If you bring an unregistered pet you will be charged $200. Electric vehicles will be charged $15 per day. If you do not register your vehicle you will be charged $200. The exterior of the property is monitored.
br- Highlands is in a temperate rain forest. Some years we get lots of rain. Some winters we get a lot of snow. Please plan accordingly for your stay. If you are concerned about weather and road conditions we strongly encourage you to purchase travel insurance as refunds are not offered due to weather conditions. We have many guests who book solely for the purpose of experiencing the unique weather patterns that Highlands experiences.br- Late check out (after 11 a.m.) will incur a $100 fee.

There is a stream that runs through the community and it is so soothing. Very walkable throughout the community too. Inside was extremely clean and we personally love that the kitchen was well stocked. The vaulted wood ceiling made the place feel so open. 2 patios, one screened in and one not which was also another benefit. The level driveway comfortably fits 2 cars with one in front and one directly behind it. There is also a gravel parking spot to the right as you turn in the driveway that will fit another car. A fourth car could also fit at the end of the driveway if necessary. We do not recommend parking on the road, as it is quite narrow.brbr**Directions to and from our house - IMPORTANT!brbrFrom Cashiers:brbrRaintree Lane is a sharp right turn off of 64, coming from Cashiers.  If you'd rather not take this sharp right, continue past Raintree Ln and take your next right on Cherrywood Drive.  After turning onto Cherrywood, take your next right onto Raintree Lane.  The road will wind a bit, and our home will be directly ahead, just past the turn off for Lazy Creek Lane.  brbrFrom Highlands:brbrWe HIGHLY recommend taking Cherrywood Drive to Raintree Lane, instead of turning directly onto Raintree from 64.  The turnoff onto Raintree from 64 is a blind curve and very dangerous! Instead, from Highlands, take a left onto Cherrywood Drive (right past the Dollar General).  From here, turn right onto Raintree Lane. The road will wind a bit and our home will be directly ahead just past the turn off for Lazy Creek Lane. brbrFrom our house to Cashiers or Highlands:brbrTo go to Cashiers or Highlands, we recommend leaving the neighborhood through Cherrywood Drive.  You can turn left out of our driveway and exit onto 64 from Raintree Lane, HOWEVER, it's not always easy to see cars coming from this way, so we recommend the following:brbrTake a right out of our driveway, and an immediate left to stay on Raintree Lane.  Raintree Lane will dead end into Cherrywood Drive.  Take a left on Cherrywood, and the road will dead end onto 64.  Take a right to go to Highlands, or a left to go to Cashiers.  brbr**Other details to note:brThere is a guest information notebook on the entryway table that includes guidelines for systems, appliances, and electronics in the house. It also includes some house rules and a departure checklist, which is all available virtually as well.brbrPlease note, because there is often tight turn around time in bookings, we do charge $50 per hour as a late checkout fee. As a reminder, checkout time is 10:00 a.m.brbrWe have a strict NO PETS and NO SMOKING policy.
