End of the Road. Top of the Ridge. Beginning of the Best Trip You've Taken in a While.

There's something about a house at the end of a road, perched on a hill, with a creek running through the ravine below and practically zero traffic noise despite being five miles from Main Street Highlands — it just feels like it was put here on purpose. Like someone knew exactly what a vacation was supposed to feel like and built accordingly.

This is that house.

The Kind of Quiet You Actually Have to Seek Out Tucked behind a ridge off Highway 64, the property sits in a pocket of genuine stillness that's surprisingly hard to find this close to town. The summer temperatures rarely climb above 80 degrees. The creek below the screened porch runs year-round. The neighbors are far enough away that you'll forget they exist. And yet downtown Highlands is a five-minute drive, Cashiers is six miles in the other direction, and everything in between — waterfalls, hiking trails, rivers, lakes, golf courses, restaurants worth planning a trip around — is well within reach.

Inside: Bright, Open, and Built for Staying In Soaring vaulted ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows flood the great room with natural light the moment you walk through the door — the kind of architectural move that makes a space feel twice as large and infinitely more inviting. A stacked stone wood-burning fireplace anchors one end of the room, a 55-inch smart TV and Sony sound system anchor the other, and a reading nook tucked under the stairs quietly makes the case for the most underrated seat in the house. The open kitchen and dining nook — table for six, fully equipped, no hunting for what you need — keeps everything connected without crowding anyone out. Two sliding doors lead to the front deck, so the inside and outside flow into each other the way they should.

Three Bedrooms, Every Base Covered The main level hosts two queen bedrooms — a primary suite with a private ensuite and a guest room with a full bath just across the hall. Head upstairs and the king primary suite waits with its own private ensuite and genuine separation from the rest of the house. The loft outside the upper bedroom adds a sleeper sofa for flexibility, plus a fully functional office with monitor and laser printer for anyone who can't completely unplug. Every bedroom has its own flat-screen smart TV loaded with cable, HBO, Showtime, and Cinemax — because sometimes the best mountain activity is a good movie marathon with the fireplace going.

Two Outdoor Spaces, Two Completely Different Moods The screened porch on the side of the house looks out over a small ravine with a creek threading through the trees below it. Shaded, cool, and serenaded by moving water, it's the kind of place you sit down in and then realize an hour has passed. The front deck operates on different energy — open to the sky, outfitted with a Weber gas grill and dining table, and positioned to catch glimpses of the sunset through the trees, especially in the cooler months when the leaves step out of the way.

Morning coffee on the screened porch. Dinner off the grill on the front deck. Repeat until checkout.

The Surrounding Area Five miles to Highlands. Six to Cashiers. In between: some of the best hiking in the Southeast, waterfalls you'll want to photograph, rivers worth floating, lakes worth fishing, and restaurants that consistently surprise people who thought they were just coming up here for the mountains. The mountains are reason enough. Everything else is a bonus.

Please respect the neighbors privacy and do not use any adjoining driveways to turn around.

What our guests are saying…

Great New Year! This property sits in a nice neighborhood directly between Cashiers and Highlands, as advertised. The community is quiet and you feel like you are in a tree house. There is a stream that runs through the community and it is so soothing. Very walkable throughout the community too. Inside was extremely clean and we personally love that the kitchen was well stocked. The vaulted wood ceiling made the place feel so open. 2 patios, one screened in and one not which was also another benefit. We highly recommend and hope to stay again! - Rent In Highlands Vacation Rental Guest, Heather R.

We loved staying at this property! It was very comfortable for myself, spouse, and two tween girls. The fireplace was really nice, the beds were comfortable, and the kitchen was well stocked. We also loved the decks and neighborhood.

We had a spectacular time at this property! The location is absolutely stunning, the fall colors were superb! We loved the area so much we are currently looking for our own property. Super comfy beds and accommodations, thanks for letting us bring our fur baby as well, she LOVED it and was on her very best behavior the entire time.

A charming retreat offered the perfect blend of rustic elegance & modern comfort. The house is beautifully maintained - spotless, cozy & tastefully decorated. Kudos to the cleaning crew – this was the cleanest, most immaculate rental we have ever stayed. The 2-story living area was perfect for relaxing, with large windows that framed the forest view, comfortable seating & a wood-burning fireplace. The kitchen was fully equipped. A short hallway off the kitchen/living area leads to 2 bedrooms. There is a bathrm across the hall from one bedrm & the other bedrm has a very large en suite bath. A third bedrm with an en suite bath is upstairs. The 2 bedrms downstairs have queen beds; the upstairs bedrm has a king bed. The mattresses were comfortable with soft linens & we all enjoyed deep, peaceful sleep. The screened-in deck was a true highlight where we enjoyed sipping coffee and/or wine by the firepit table while listening to the soothing sounds of the babbling creek nearby. Excellent location - minutes from downtown Highlands yet secluded enough to feel like a true escape. The only negative was the overnight closure of Hwy 64 on our first night. We were unaware of this when we arrived, so it made driving home from dinner that evening quite an “adventure.” It would have been helpful if the rental agency had given us a heads-up prior to arrival so we could plan accordingly. Luckily we had decent phone reception & could access Maps. We truly enjoyed our stay & would stay again.

This property sits in a nice neighborhood directly between Cashiers and Highlands, as advertised. The community is quiet and you feel like you are in a tree house. There is a stream that runs through the community and it is so soothing. Very walkable throughout the community too. Inside was extremely clean and we personally love that the kitchen was well stocked not only with the more than generous cookware, but also condiments like salt/pepper and other spices that not all rentals have. The vaulted wood ceiling made the place feel so open. 2 patios, one screened in and one not which was also another benefit. The hosts were extremely responsive and answered any question I had. I didn’t need to ask also though because the information provided for the property was very organized. The decor within are nice, a tad outdated but did not bother us because the place as a whole was so nice and it is represented exactly as on the we website. We highly recommend and hope to stay again!
