Of course there is a sandy beach, but also a large modern playground, penny candy, casual and fine dining options and of course, ice cream shops! York Beach is unique in that it offers entertainment for the family that will remind you of yesteryear. York's Wild Kingdom is a small amusement park with a very nice zoo. We have our gazebo near the ocean where you can listen to live music many nights a week plus arcades and bowling. For those who are looking for more mature amusement, there are a few nicely appointed bars within an easy walk where you can sit outside and enjoy a refreshing adult beverage while enjoying the sights and sounds of our beachside town. If you want some day-trip excursions, there is so much to do in our area! Here are some great ideas for family fun: Whale Watching out of York Harbor or Perkins Cove, day trip to Ogunquit to enjoy that 5 mile sandy beach plus great restaurants and shopping or play at one of two public golf courses in York. York Village is robust with colonial history featuring historic museums where you can travel back in time. Perhaps you might enjoy fresh or salt water fishing. There are locals here who will offer deep water fishing or guided kayak excursions. There are tennis courts, scuba diving, paddle boarding and so much more! There is also a half bathroom off the kitchen, as well as a first-floor bedroom with glass French doors (two twin beds, closets, TV, Bedroom #1).br A small set of stairs takes you to the raised open concept area, which includes both a sitting area with ocean views, as well as a large TV area with massive couch – perfect for the whole family for winding down the day.brThe gorgeous Tiger Maple spiral staircase takes you to the top floor, which includes two bedrooms both sharing a full bathroom in the hallway. Cottage has upper wrap around porch deck to sit outdoors and relax in the salt air. Bathrooms on both floors. First floor small kitchen, living room with three season porch. Spiral staircase to second floor living and master bedroom and livingroom with access to upper deck. Side walks make a stroll to Long Sands beach or bike ride easy or cut through Bay View Rd and cross the quaint wooden bridge to the ocean. Head to Short Sands to visit Golden Rod Restaurant to watch the famous salt water taffy be pulled or Yorks Wild Animal Kingdom with the amusement park section that is open and walkable and the Zoo can be accessed w/tickets. Grab a drink and dinner at the deck at Stones Throw on Long Sands and drive out to the Nubble Light House to have ice cream at Dunnes. Sand Dollar and Inn on the Blues have great live entertainment. So much to do! York Beach is old school New England beach town great for families. The park at Short Sands has slides, swings, slides and a gazebo with weekly free night concerts. Bowlarama has old school arcades and candlepin bowling. Get some fudge at Sweet Josie's and buy some cool York jewelry at Bill-n-Bobs or more upscale beachwear at Wheat Boutique. Take a ride out to Oqunquit for a faster night life scene or to see a show at the Playhouse. Perfect for a family of 4 or 2 couples who want their privacy. Sleep a few extra on the futon on pull out couch. Sleeps up to 6 if you use the both the pull out couch downstairs & fouton to sleep 2, otherwise there are 2 twin beds downstairs and one queen bed upstairs that sleeps 4 total. Note spiral staircase can be tricky to navigate for toddlers, elderly or folks with mobility issues-- also large suitcases are tough to manage to the second floor. This is a really cute place that has a great location with tons of fun stuff to do!
