Welcome to our family camp where the sun sets over Flanders Pond and eventually disappears behind Shoodic Mountain. Our pond has a sandy bottom pond, it spans over 550 acres so we like to call it a lake! This house features its own private beachfront with two kayaks included! Swim the crystal clear waters! We are about 45 mins to Bar Harbor and Acadia State Park. Winter Harbor/Shoodic Pennisula is about 15 mins away. Down East Sunrise Trail is right across the pond for hiking and snowmobiling.brbrThe layout is as follows, bottom floor has a one car garage which leads into a partially finished game room. There is a pull out couch in there that can serve as an extra bed if necessary. The laundry is down there as well. Second floor has the full bathroom, kitchen and living room as well as a walkout balcony. The top floor has the primary bedroom with balcony and the other bedroom has two adult size bunk beds as well as a twin. There is also a half bathroom in between both of the bedrooms.brbrThe house is fully equipped with baseboard heating for the winter months, running water from a deep well, and fully functional cesspool. The pond does freeze over during the winter. People ice fish the pond during the icey months. In the summer, you can catch brown trout, smallmouth bass, white perch and pickerel. Down East sunrise trail is right around the corner. brbrThere's a bunch of trails you can visit nearby as well. 10 mins away you can go to the shoodic beach and climb the shoodic mountain. brbrIn the summer you can take a boat ride to bar harbor from winter harbor and just avoid all the traffic getting out there. Winter harbor is like 15 mins away and is a part of Acadia national park. You can rent a bike there and cruise around the scenic roads.brbrThere's two kayaks and life vests for guests to use. Swimming and boating are at your own risk!br

The bathroom is located,downstairs. The address is 343 Taunton Drive so you can see on the map what is nearby.It is approximately a 35-minute drive to the head of Mount Desert Island.

Zephyrus is the Greek God of the West Wind, and warm westerly breezes grace this beautiful spot all summer long. Zephyrus Cottage is a new home, with three bedrooms, two baths, and an open great room with kitchen, dining, and living areas. The living area flows onto our expansive deck with space for grilling, dining, and relaxing. Best of all is our private dock on the lake, which is great for swimming, fishing, and boating. We have the best sunsets and expansive views of nearby Schoodic Mountain and the tippy top of Cadillac Mountain in Acadia. brbrLocationbrbrZephyrus Cottage is located on Flanders Pond in Sullivan, Maine. Flanders Pond is roughly one mile long and a half mile wide, and sits at the base of Schoodic Mountain. The pond is great for swimming, fishing, and boating with access from our private dock. Schoodic Mountain is part of Donnell Pond Maine Public Reserve Land, which features great hiking and swimming just 3 miles away. Zephyrus Cottage is 35 miles from downtown Bar Harbor, the Acadia National Park visitors center. We are also only 16 miles from the Schoodic Peninsula section of Acadia. The picturesque coastal Maine villages of Sorrento, Winter Harbor, Birch Harbor, and Corea are all very close by. From Zephyrus Cottage you can explore all of Acadia and Downeast Maine, and enjoy the quiet tranquility of a wild Maine lake.brbrbrAmenitiesbrbrZephyrus cottage has an open living area for cooking, dining and relaxing, three bedrooms, two full baths, an expansive deck, and a private dock on the pond. The master bedroom and master bath are on the first floor. The master bath has an antique clawfoot tub, perfect for relaxing after a day hiking at nearby Acadia National Park. A queen-size futon in the living area is available for additional guests. The kitchen is modern and well equipped, whether you are steaming lobsters and clams or baking a fresh blueberry pie. Our expansive deck offers a Weber grill and room for dining and relaxing. And of course great views of the lake and mountain. A laundry room rounds out the first floor. The second floor offers one bedroom with its own balcony overlooking the lake, a second bedroom, and a full bath with shower. We have a mini-split head pump in the living area that heats and cools the super-insulated house. Bedrooms have electric baseboards for spring and fall coziness.brbrThings to do.brbrFlanders Pond is your front yard. Relax on the dock or go for a swim. Keep an eye out for loons and bald eagles.brbrDonnell Pond Maine Public Reserve Land borders Flanders Pond to the north, and can be accessed from a trailhead three miles away. From the trailhead you can climb Schoodic Mountain (elevation 1090 feet) for fantastic views of Acadia, Mount Desert Island, and beyond. You can also walk ¼ mile to Schoodic Beach on Donnell Pond and go for a swim. Other hikes from the trailhead include Black Mountain, Fiery Mountain, and Wizard Pond.brbrIf you like to mountain bike, check out the Downeast Sunrise Trail. This trail was constructed from an abandoned rail bed and stretches 85 miles through Maine wilderness from Ellsworth to Pembroke, with a trailhead just one mile from Zephyrus Cottage.brbrAcadia National Park is nearby. Drive up Cadillac Mountain for great views of the Island and Downeast Maine. Drive the Park Loop Road and visit Sand Beach, Thunder Hole, and Otter Cliffs. Hike the dozen mountain peaks on the Island. Wrap up your day with dinner in bustling Bar Harbor or the dine on the quiet side in Southwest Harbor or Bass Harbor. Outside you will find that we have a grill, great wooden swing, a fenced in area to let your dogs go for a run, 3 kayaks and a canoe. A great solo stove to sit around and have smores. If fishing is more your style we have plenty of that, with salmon and trout in Little Tunk. Maybe you would like to go for a swim, this pond is great for that and Big Tunk is just a short walk away! We have a generator all hooked up to immediately switch over if power is ever lost. Aspen Cabin is here to offer you the peace of getting away in the woods while still maintaining all of the comforts of home! Down the road you can visit the Granite Gallery and see the vast collection of sculptures and other creations fabricated from granite. It’s on the site of one of many granite quarries in the area. brbrIf you head north on Hwy. 1 you can visit Schoodic Point (also a part of Acadia National Park, with less visitors). You’ll be able to walk out on the granite cliffs and taste the salt spray as the surf hits the cliffs.
