Carriage House wHarbor Views

Castine, Maine, United States

A ‘Carriage House’ (CH) is just a Downeast old school name for a garage but lest you think you’re renting a garage: Think again! Rooftop deck is award-winning offering both exceptional water views and total privacy as it’s built into and not off of the third floor. The second floor is spacious and also offers exceptional views and is oriented seaward. The first floor is open space and aside from a mobile ping pong table offers a terrific space for rehearsal dinner or small wedding if it rains outside!brbrThe three bedrooms enjoy a sensational sunrise while looking towards a wooded corridor of land, Easterly. Bird song and sunrise will get your day started in the right way! There is also two fold-out or convertible couches for extra guests. And a second living room on third floor.brbrConstructed in 2020, finished January 2021, this guest cottage, available in its entirety, is an elegant yet simple, modern, homage to easy living. Two uncluttered bedrooms, a sun-filled third floor LR and 1.5 baths ensures plenty of room for 6-8 with conv couches. brbrThe structure is almost 2,000 sq feet, with 1,000 feet of living space. The garage bays are outfitted as game rooms, and double as an ideal alternative for a reception or dinner party when the head count exceeds 10. The novelty of a front and back door allows you to feel as if your outside, but you’re not- ideal for when a sudden torrential summer rain shower dampens that special occasion. brbrThe kitchen appliances, laundry room, and lighting fixtures are all brand new. As is the carpets, the beds and mattresses and tv/ stereo. You will want for nothing while finding it immaculate throughout. There are spacious rooms for gathering together and nooks and crannies to hide away from everyone.brbrThe Boat Barn (aka guest house) overlooks a field in the foreground with sweeping views of Bagaduece Bay and Penobscot Bay seen easily beyond. In addition there are French doors off both bedroooms on second floor that open wide. The bird song in the morning is riotous and the ribbon of forest that separates our property from a protected field also presents opportunities too see deer, raccoon and bald eagles!brbrThis dwelling sits south and to the right of the ‘Big House’ also a rental, and just seaward of the ‘Tiny House’ aka garden cottage- also available for rent as a set, not individually.brbrThey are sited professionally so as to optimize view corridors while minimizing contact with each other, including assigned parking and individual laundry. brbrOur (BB) guest cottage property offers privacy and seclusion. No common areas where strangers might linger. While also being only an hours drive to the more popular coastal enclaves of Camden and Bar Harbor. It is also a great base camp for exploring the outer islands by boat or kayak, returning home to your own slice of heaven. brbrAs it was only finished in January 2021 there are only a few reviews, all favorable; we assure you it will please even the most discriminating tastes!

Secluded Sunset Retreat on Penobscot Bay

Castine, Maine, United States

Built in 1967, our authentic Maine “camp” sits right on Penobscot Bay at the end of a 1/2 mile-long private wooded lane, just 3.5 miles north of the historic village of Castine.brbrSituated on the southern fringe of Turners Point (directly across from Belfast), it has stunning sunsets and views of the Camden Hills. brbrA 75 ft. path through the bunchberries takes you down to our private beach. We own over 300 ft of a sandy/cobblestone mix, where you can swim at high tide, or lounge with a book, or take long walks on an almost uninhabited beach. Or, just soak in the long view south down Penobscot Bay. brbrWith very few neighbors (who also have large wooded tracts and long stretches of beach) we offer you seclusion - and nature in all its glory. (Our nearest northern neighbor is 300 feet away, and southern, more than 500, all through thick woods.)brbrWith many of the amenities of home, our cabin is a perfect retreat for the bird watcher, the writer, or someone simply wanting to get away from it all. Yet there are restaurants and markets, movies, concerts, and museums, as well as a quaint New England village steeped in Maine's seafaring history, just minutes away.brbrListen to the ravens and the loons. See seals basking on rocks and eagles cruising right over head, all summer long. Catch the deer foraging for apples in what used to be an old orchard, or forage for your own raspberries along the lane. And at extremely low tide, look for mussels, sea urchins, starfish, and more. If you especially love nature accompanied by most of modern day conveniences, our place could be just right for you.brbrPLEASE NOTE: Our maximum capacity is 6 people total, and is not available for large gatherings such as events, weddings, reunions, graduation parties, etc.brbrOne other note is that the two ell bedrooms are accessible only from the porch (and not from the main cabin).brbrIf you are a new guest to our cottage, please contact us with your inquiry BEFORE requesting a booking! That way we can better help you decide if our property and the area are a good fit for you and your group. Inquiries can be made through this listing.brbrKEYWORDS: Writers and Nature Retreat
