The Bodwell is the third of three cabins on East Boston Quarry currently available for weekly stays. The cottages are just a short 1.4 mile drive from the Vinalhaven Ferry Terminal, and barely a mile from Vinalhaven’s Main Street. If you’re looking for a peaceful, private, and serene place to rest during your stay on Vinalhaven, you’ve found the place! brbrThe Bodwell Cottage is equipped with small kitchen space with oven, sink and full size refrigerator, one bedroom with a double bed, a living area with couch and TV, and a full bathroom with a standing shower. Also includes A/C and heating capabilities via heat pump. The Wooster family farmhouse was built at the head of Crockett Cove in 1843. The guest house was built in 1964, and renovated in 2025. The guest house is the residence available by the week from Sunday to Sunday. brbrThe guest house faces south with a lovely water view and summer breeze. One can hear the reversing falls at all times except high tide when you can slip over the falls and kayak in the completely conserved natural area, with the largest salt marsh on the island. There you may see Bald Eagles, Osprey nests, Herons, Eiders, Guillemots, Kingfishers and other birds in this area. brbrYou may leave kayaks or rowing shells on the shore. brbrThere are several walking trails near by on Vinalhaven Land Trust and Town owned properties. The island of North Haven can be accessed by driving about 3 miles to the northern end of Vinalhaven and taking a boat taxi across the Thoroughfare. The small town of North Haven has several restaurants, galleries and shops, including the acclaimed Nebo Lodge which serves only locally sourced food.brbrI live in the farmhouse and am available for any questions or help as needed.

Please do not attempt to book for nowbrbrA beautiful 150-year old rustic saltwater farm surrounded by acres and acres of fields and woods with thousands of feet of shorefront on a tranquil cove.brbr The perfect setting to go kayaking and canoeing for an active day on the water, to go bicycling and explore the island or Vinalhaven town, to go hiking, or to go swimming in either the salt water or nearby fresh water granite quarries (one two miles away the other four miles distant). You may also want to swim in the warm (for coastal Maine) saltwater cove behind the house, pick berries, or explore the woods on the nearby trails. br br Or else just relax on the back porch with a book and a view over the wildflowers and cove and watch the ospreys diving for fish.brbr There is a 5 BR main house with 3 baths, a guesthouse with 1 BR and a 6-bed bunkroom that kids love. brbrThere is also large barn attached to the guesthouse that is a great setting for a rainy day kids activities such as ping-pong, painting, and there's a big swing hanging off the rafters. brbrThe main house has a full kitchen with equipment for lobster, pies or anything else you might want to create from the delicious local seafood, produce and berries. A huge dining room has a table that expands to seat all of your extended family and gets great views of the cove and fields. A cozy living room is a great place to read or for a late night board game. A large deck off the main house overlooks the back lawn, fields, and cove. There is a hammock to put between two trees just off the back lawn.br br There is a master bedroom with king size bed and bathroom downstairs. Upstairs features 2 full bathrooms with and 2 bedrooms with queen-sized beds, 1 room with twin singles, and 1 room with a single bed. A back staircase allows privacy between the 'North' and 'South' upstairs rooms.brbr The guesthouse features a spacious sitting/dining area with high ceilings with great views over the fields and cove. There's a full kitchen with great views over the fields and cove.
