It is a unique and beautiful property, with stunning views to North Haven, the Camden Hills, and the Eagle Island lighthouse. There are over 1,200 feet of shoreline along East Penobscot Bay, with Pink granite ledges, a private beach and a pier. A covered gazebo sits on the ledge over the ocean, and is the ideal spot to sit peacefully with morning coffee, and to watch the sunset in the evenings. brbrGranite Shores has been a long-time family home, and is now available for rental. This is a magnificent property, offering the best of Maine! Your hosts live nearby and have many years of experience in hospitality and property management. They will do everything they can to make sure you have a wonderful stay. Please read through the reviews from previous guests. Please note: Granite shores is available for one week (or multi-week) rentals with check-in and check-out only on Saturdays during the summer months. brbrThere are 6 bedrooms and 4 1/2 bathrooms. It is a wonderful spot for extended family gatherings. The main house has 5 bedrooms. There are 3 bedrooms on the first floor (one king, two queens), with 2 full bathrooms (2 showers) and a 1/2 bath. There are 2 bedrooms on the second floor (one king, one queen). There is a very large master bedroom with ocean views and a king size bed. There is also a large second bedroom with queen size bed and a sink in the room. There is a full bath with separate shower and full-size tub. brbrOn the first floor you will find a large kitchen with Viking stove, a separate wet bar and kitchen table for casual dining. There is a large, elegant wood-paneled living room, and a formal dining room that seats 10. There is also a well-stocked library and an assortment of games. There is internet, but no cable TV or satellite. There is a separate laundry room with full size washer, dryer and laundry sink. There is a ping pong table in the garage. brbrThe studio apartment over the garage is connected to the house by a covered walkway, and contains 4 twin beds, 1 full bathroom and a small kitchen with a sink and electric stove. There is an extra refrigerator in the garage, right downstairs. brbrGranite Shores has a private beach, with beach chairs and a picnic table - the perfect spot to launch your kayaks, or enjoy swimming, boating and beach combing. The beach is a short walk from the house (about 2 minutes), on a lovely trail through the woods. brbrGranite Shores is only a short drive to Stonington, the lobster capital of Maine. You will find everything you need at the property to prepare lobster feasts. There is also a gas BBQ grill.brbrGranite Shores is close to many wonderful activities available on Deer Isle, including Aragosta at Goose Cove, recently named “Best Waterfront Restaurant in Maine” by DownEast Magazine. The Barred Island hiking trail is within walking distance of the house, and there are many other trails on Deer Isle managed by the Island Heritage Trust. Isle au Haut is a beautiful island off the coast of Stonington. It is home to portions of Acadia National Park, and is accessible by ferry from Stonington. In addition, Deer Isle offers many shops, galleries, 44 North Coffee, a farmer’s market, Haystack Mountain School of Crafts, Nervous Nellie’s, and the Deer Isle Granite Museum. brbrAcadia National Park and Bar Harbor are close enough for day trips, whale watches and more!br

Eggemoggin Reach is home to some of the most ardent sailors around. From the front yard, you can watch the yatchs as well as nesting osprey, bald eagles, the occasional seal, and many sea birds. Our backyard is often visited by pileated woodpeckers. Rental of this cozy, all inclusive apartment includes use of 300+ ft of private ocean frontage, a huge front yard with 2 picnic areas, charcoal grill, a semi-private dock, 2 ocean kayaks, a row boat, and 2 ocean kayaks. A short kayak ride away, you can watch starfish as they move about on the rocks under the crystal clear water. Blue mussels can be gathered from the rocks in the cove and cooked in the well-equipped kitchen of the apartment. There are lobsters, crab meat, clams and fish from local fishermen. There are also many restaurants and shops in the area. Few properties offer as continual parade of sailboats, fishing boats and schooners passing the front yard as this one!brbrbrThe perfect place: This mother-in-law apartment is the perfect place to forget the world and its stresses. As you sip coffee on the balcony, reading your favorite book or paper, you can hear the sea gulls on the beach and the wind in the trees. brIf you prefer, you can take your morning coffee out to the benches at the end of the pier and watch the sunrise. Any time of day, the views and peace are rejuvenating and relaxing. brbrDon't like to relax Paddle a kayak or row the boat around Stave Island or along the shore of Eggemoggin Reach. Be sure to watch for the starfish on the rocks at the point of Stave Island and elsewhere. Most couples who stay for a week, wish they could stay for two. brbrThe perfect island: Little Deer Isle and Deer Isle are actually two islands joined by a causeway. The communities are marvelous. You have the opportunity to watch fishermen on the job and arts of all types. The arts are such an important part of the island community that it was easy to raise private dollars to add a performing arts theater to the new elementary school. The Reach Center for the Arts is a state of the art auditorium and is used by the school and the community to produce and provide live performances of all types. It is fun to see your local doctor, child, or fisherman performing in such productions as 'Little Orphan Annie.' At least four full plays are performed every year along with many music venues including jazz. The Stonington Opera House also provides nightly entertainment through movies, plays, and performances of all types. This year, the Opera House and the Reach Auditorium have received a Kennedy Center for the Arts grant to further expand their performances and offerings.brbrOther offerings: Haystack School of Art, Seamark School, and several local artists offer classes in glass blowing, metal sculpture, painting, pottery, etc., etc. Authors provide book readings, individuals from around the world provide lectures and learning opportunities, Ocean Adventures and others offer boat and kayak rentals, and there are at least six walking trails provided by various groups and individuals. There is absolutely no opportunity to come to this area and be bored.

The home sits atop a large green lawn space that gently rolls down to the shores of Billings Cove and beyond to Jericho Bay. The path down to the beach is a bit steep and should be carefully navigated. The pocket beach is private to the home and will provide guests with swimming as well as the ability to launch their kayak, canoe and/or paddle boards. brbrCome and unwind, relax and reconnect with the land at this gorgeous oceanfront property in Deer Isle. BBQ outside or cook in the fully equipped kitchen. There is plenty of internet (2gigs) to make work or entertainment not a problem at all. br brLocated just minutes from Deer Isle village and the working water front of Stonington. Start your day at 44 North coffee shop in either Deer Isle or Stonington, then check out the fabulous shops! Watch the working water fronts activity, lobster boats leaving to go haul and returning to unload the days catch. Also, stop by Maine Center for Coastal Fisheries. They have a touch tank and virtual reality learning tools to teach you about the lobster industry. They are also the home of Ask Leroy! If you haven't seen him check him out on YouTube, he is a gem! br There are several great restaurants to choose from in Stonington, Fin and Fern, Stonecutters, 27 fathoms, the cockatoo and Burnt Cove Boil. Deer Isle has Aragosta at Goose Cove, the whales rib, LDI lobster and a take out There's a treat. Reservations are recommended during the summer season. br Around the peninsula are several fabulous restaurants as well, including Brooklin, Brooksville and Blue Hill. br brClose proximity to several beaches and the lily pond where you can swim, paddle board or kayak. Bring a picnic lunch and make an afternoon of sunshine and salt air.br Island heritage trust has many hiking trails all around Deer Isle. Explore the many trails and also learn some local history while taking in some spectacular water views. The Settlement quarry and the Edgar M tennis preserve are two of my favorites! br Up the road from the Edgar M tennis preserve is Nervous Nellie's jam and jellies. A must see for everyone young and old! Stroll through the grounds and look at all the metal works. It is sure to please everyone, and will leave you wanting to come back again and again. The gift shop is packed with yummy jams and jellies. Definitely worth the trip! br If your destination is Bar Harbor and Acadia National park, it is about an hour and a half away. A great day trip! After a busy day you can return to A stone's throw house and relax, perhaps with a glass of wine, while waiting for your lobster to cook and enjoy a nice lobster dinner. You might just see a deer or two wander through the yard, listen to the loons or watch the birds and just let the evening roll on by.br br Exciting news! The primary bedroom has a queen size bed. The guest room has a twin daybed (twin size mattress) and a twin size trundle underneath it. In this bedroom you will also find the second bathroom (half bathroom only). brbrThe first floor has a full bathroom, with a shower (no tub), and washer & dryer.brbrEntertainment options are aplenty: there is a smart Roku TV in both bedrooms as well as the living room (just bring your log-on!).
