The fields are home to numerous birds including bluebirds, woodpeckers, yellow bellied northern flickers, yellow finches, etc.brbrThe house sleeps eight comfortably, with a fold-out couch on the first floor for overflow, and a fold out cot and a pack and play available. Upstairs there are three bedrooms and a full bath. The first floor has a library with a queen bed, kitchen, dining/living room, and a full bath. Schoodic, Tunk, and Caribou Mountains are nearby and great hikes! Little Loon Cabin is under an hour to downtown Bar Harbor and the Acadia National Park Visitors Center. We are only a few miles from the ocean, and ~20 miles to Winter Harbor and the Schoodic Peninsula section of Acadia National Park. The picturesque coastal Maine villages of Sorrento, Winter Harbor, Birch Harbor, and Corea are all very close by. The Point Camp is a small 16x16 cabin located on the Western shore of Great Pond in Franklin Maine. The camp is perfect for 2 people, but can easily sleep 3-4 with relative comfort. Loft has two twin mattresses, but it can be very warm in the heat of summer. More than 4 would require a tent or camper. Direct access to the Downeast Sunrise Trail. Cabin is ATV friendly. Excellent fishing, canoeing and kayaking. Miles of old logging roads for hiking and walking right outside the door. brThis Camp has limited hot/cold water for shower and vanity in shower room. NO electricity, no inside toilet. There are gas lights, a gas wall heater, gas stove and gas refrigerator. A hand pump in the kitchen for non-potable water and a natural spring within 300 yards with excellent drinking water. There is a Porta-Potty behind the camp that is serviced weekly. A small changing area with a shower stall & vanity with drain for washing up. There is limited Hot and Cold water for shower and vanity.brThis is located approximately 12 miles from Ellsworth and 30 miles from Acadia National Park/Bar Harbor. At mile 7.5 on the Downeast Sunrise Trail.brWe include the use of one canoe and one kayak with paddles and lifevests with the rental. Additional canoes/kayaks can be rented. We are minutes to Schoodic Mountain and Schoodic Beach which is a great place to hike and swim or have a picnic on Donnell’s Pond. Schoodic’s summit is flat with 360-degree breathtaking views over Frenchman Bay and Mount Desert Island. The Downeast Sunrise Trail is a revamped railway with miles of trail for biking, hiking, ATV, or walking (see website for more information) just 5 minutes from the cabin. Schoodic Head is 30 minutes towards Winter Harbor and also part of Acadia National Park. There you will find beautiful hikes, a cute harbor town, great ice cream and see some more of beautiful Maine. The cabin is 40 minutes to Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor. Acadia National Park, known as the North Atlantic crown jewel, protects some of the most beautiful and highest rocky coastline. You can hike, mountain bike, shop the island boutiques, dine in Bar Harbor restaurants, go on a whale watch or grab a delicious homemade ice cream cone. You can also play golf at the famous Kebo Valley course. Adventure awaits! On your way home, stop and pick blueberries and make a cobbler or relax on the screen porch. This rare screen porch is sure to relax you and is the perfect place to start the day with a cup of coffee or to take an afternoon nap. We provide kayaks and life vests. We have private shore access (though you’ll need to pay attention to the tides) and can tell you about our favorite local ponds which do not see large crowds.brbrTaunton Bay is nationally recognized as a significant tidal estuary, supporting shellfish harvesting (clams, lobsters, and crabs), sea run fish harvesting (elvers, alewives, and river herring), oyster aquaculture, and seaweed harvesting. The variety of marine life attracts many species of birds, both resident and migratory. In early May several species of fish migrate up the stream adjacent to our property to spawn in Great Pond – this run of fish attracts ospreys and eagles, as well as seals, to the cove, making late spring one of the most active bird-watching times.brbrGuests have exclusive use of the apartment, attached deck, a private entrance and covered parking. There is water access at the cove on the front edge of our property, on the north side of the loft.

A reverse osmosis system has been installed for crystal clear drinking water. Radiant heated floors on all 3 levels, and instant hot water add to your comfort level. The home has high speed internet, Cable, and phone service. Cell service can be spotty in Franklin.brbrKitchen:brThe kitchen is spacious for a family of 4. With plenty of storage, whirlpool appliances, coffee maker, dish washer, and views through the sliding door onto the patio, you are sure to fall in love. Led lighting and large windows provide a bright, comfortable space for lounging on the large couch, or an extra play space for the kids.brbrOutdoor Entertainment Area:brAn ideal location for enjoying the ponds sights, sounds, and atmosphere. We provide a large propane BBQ grill, chair swing, chairs, table with umbrella, and a solo smokeless fire pit. Just under the deck you will find lifejackets, kayak and paddle board paddles. This is the ideal place to watch the sunset each night as the loons call out to each other. Almost every night you will see osprey, falcons, eagles, and you can hear fish jump at the edge of dark. Just down a set of steps you will find an aluminum dock with kayaks on a convenient rack. Out on the end of the dock is seating for 3 people and a large area to lay down or have a picnic. The sand / pebble beach area to the right of the dock provides an excellent place to wade, splash, and swim! Quite often a family of ducks will swim through looking for food along the rocky shoreline. Murch Island offers shelter from South winds, and provides excellent fishing grounds.brbrIn closing: George’s Pond House is about as comfortable and charming as it gets.
