It is tucked in the mountains at the “end of the road” in the old mining town of Jardine, Montana, which is 6 miles northeast of Gardiner – the north entrance to Yellowstone Park. This place offers a nice balance between seclusion and easy access to endless sightseeing, wildlife viewing, and outdoor recreation opportunities.brbr The North Fork of Bear Creek is only about 100 yards below. It is a beautiful mountain stream and the fishing is good! Nights are quiet and peaceful. And the night sky is brilliant – take time to gaze at the stars.brbr This house is rustic and has lots of character. It is clean and cozy, but the layout and decor aren’t too fussy or uptight. The original portion of the house was built in 1994 with logs skidded out of the forest with a team of Percheron horses and peeled by hand. It includes an open kitchen with appliances and dishes. There is a deck where you can kick back and take in the scenery. One bathroom has an antique clawfoot tub. There is a loft/bedroom with a homemade queen size log bed. There is a nice sounding old piano for the fun of it. brbr A versatile 'great' room, which includes a bar (with sink, fridge and TV) and a full bathroom was added on to the house in 2001, and it is ideal for entertaining and hanging out. There are antlers, tanned hides, antiques, etc. throughout the house – sort of a wildlife/western theme. There is a large yard with trees, a picnic table, and a firepit. The native wildflowers are beautiful and plentiful. And various species of birds and wildlife will share this property with you. brbr There are also two convertible sofa beds in addition to a bedroom and the loft. The unique floor plan of this home can easily and comfortably accommodate a group of 6. It is easily accessible by car yet distanced from highway 89 enough to be completely quiet and serene. It is a peaceful setting with beautiful views of breathtaking mountains and a beautiful native cutthroat trout stream running right through your backyard. Bordering the property to the north and south are wide open grassy pastures which are home to our cow herd whose lineage goes back on this place over a hundred years. You may often see a horse frequent by in the summer. brThe property has walking or horseback access to the Gallatin National Forest (located only a quarter mile to the east of the house) and the 900,000 acre Absaroka Beartooth Wilderness. This Wilderness abuts the 2.2 million acre Yellowstone National Park. It is a huge expanse of wild land. A quarter mile to the west is the free flowing Yellowstone River. Yellowstone National Park is an extremely scenic ten minute drive away.brThe home is spacious and comfortable. It is a 4 bedroom 3 bath home. The property has a beautiful grass lawn with flower beds and bordered by native vegetation and shade trees. There are two decks. The front deck gets the morning sun and is a spectacular setting to enjoy your morning coffee. The back deck is always shaded by beautiful, large cottonwood trees and overlooks Cedar Creek. There is a one car attached garage for your use. brWildlife frequents the area often. You may see elk, deer, mountain sheep, coyotes, wolves, raccoons and the ever present entertaining squirrels on the deck. It is a birdwatchers heaven from chickadees and sparrows to eagles, cranes and herons. If you are a winter guest, you may also see buffalo from your living room window.brThere are endless activities in the greater Yellowstone area. You could spend a lifetime here and not see and experience all it has to offer. Yellowstone National Park offers gorgeous scenery, geysers, bubbling mud, hot springs, wildlife viewing, hiking, fishing, horseback riding, western cookouts, stagecoach rides, boating, guided fish boats on Lake Yellowstone, and many educational opportunities. br The Greater Yellowstone area offers spectacular whitewater rafting, fishing, guided river trips, horseback riding, camping, park tours, souvenir gift shops, restaurants, bar and grills, swimming, biking, hunting and hiking. Bozeman’s Gallatin Field is located 70 miles away.brThere is plenty to do right from your Bar B door as well. Two miles east of the house is the historic OTO dude ranch, Montana’s first dude ranch. This is a beautiful, fairly easy hike up a gravel road to the remnants of the dude ranch. The lodge and cabins have been restored to their original condition and you are free to walk around and in them or picnic on the deck. brCedar Creek, which runs behind the house is closed to fishing as it is a native spawning stream for Yellowstone Cutthroat Trout. We are, however, only a quarter mile from the Yellowstone River which offers spectacular fishing with plenty of access through fishing accesses and high water lines. The spawning cutthroat in Cedar Creek can be seen from the bridge behind the house during July. There are also rainbow and brown trout in the creek. brThis is a super location for hunters to base from as well as a comfortable place to come home to after a long day of hunting. There is hunting within walking distance from the house. There is ample Forest Service land in the area for big game hunting during the archery season or general season. We often hear elk bugling at night from our bedroom windows.brbrYELLOWSTONE BAR B DESCRIPTIONbrThis Family Friendly Home sleeps 12 people. Located less than 2 minutes from Yellowstone's North Entrance and within walking distance of restaurants, shopping, the grocery store and post office. brThis home comes fully furnished. There are 2 Bedrooms, one with 2 full size beds and one with a king size bed. Each room has a luggage rack and a closet. There is a queen size sleeper sofa and full size sleeper couch in the Living Room. The bathroom has a double vanity and a walk in 8ft shower with a Rainshower Head and wand and all linens are provided. The kitchen has a 3 stools at the counter bar, microwave, mixing bowls, coffee maker (coffee included), toaster, knife block, crock pot, pots, pans, wine key and eating/cooking utensils with a view of Yellowstone. The deck overlooks the river below, our bridge and town to your left, the Absaroka Beartooth Mountains as far you can see and Yellowstone Park on your right. In the Summer and Fall, there is an outdoor couch and coffee table on the deck to enjoy a morning coffee, evening cocktail or Family BBQ.brYour Hosts own Yellowstone Raft Company and Paradise Adventure Company. Yellowstone Hot Springs 15 minutes away. Electric Peak Retreat offers a special experience for visitors coming to the Yellowstone area. It is nestled on 3 acres of land with 300 feet of Yellowstone River frontage that provides private river access. My home sits just below Electric Peak, an 11,000 foot peak in the north end of Yellowstone Park, the views and surrounding landscape are awe-inspiring. brbrLOCATION: 5 miles from the Roosevelt Arch marking the North Entrance to Yellowstone National Park in Gardiner, MT. It's incredibly convenient to serve as a base camp for all of your explorations of the Park and surrounding area (see updates above about access). You truly feel connected to the beautiful nature around you. There is a great natural hot spring located less than 3 miles from the house as well. brbrThe town of Gardiner is working to become members of the Dark Sky Association because of the incredible night skies in the area. They really will take your breath away! Of course, you may have to share the beach with the elk. brbrThere are lots of recreational opportunities outside of the Park: miles and miles of hiking trails, whitewater and scenic rafting, horseback riding, e-bike tours, wildlife tours, fishing, shopping, restaurants and food trucks, scenic drives, soaking in Yellowstone Hot Springs, Chico Hot Springs, and local music venues. brbrDESCRIPTION: Nature often puts on a show for our guests. The Yellowstone River is rich with wildlife and activity, especially as the sun is coming up. You can soak it all in from the comfort of the living room or deck as you have your morning coffee. Elk, deer, otters, bald eagles, osprey, coyotes are common guests!brbrThe main floor has an open floor plan with a large kitchen that adjoins a roomy dining area and Living Room, ideal for gatherings and games. The deck is accessed off of the kitchen and provides a wonderful spot to sit and watch the sun drop behind Electric Peak as you relax with your family and friends. A gas grill is provided on the deck for creating true summertime outdoor meals. brbrAlso on the main level is a wonderful master bedroom (king bed) with an ensuite full bathroom. It’s not often that a bathroom has such incredible views, but this one does! Guests will enjoy the soaking tub as well as the walk-in shower in the master bath. A cozy bonus reading room with a desk sits just outside the master bedroom. A half bath is available off of the great room.brbrThe lower level is all about a casual and relaxed vibe. It is a walkout onto the yard. There are 3 bedrooms (each with a queen bed) and a full bath with a shower/tub combo. A great family room with large screen TV and comfy couches is downstairs as well. Laundry with washer and dryer. brbrThe home sleeps 8 (max) comfortably. All of the mattresses and linens are high quality since getting good sleep can make all the difference on vacation. There are 3 bathrooms.brbrThe kitchen is fully stocked with all you will need to make most meals. brbrNOTE: This home is incredibly special to me because it served as a home for my family of 3 boys up until now. I have managed rentals in the area for other owners and have received only 5 star reviews for my service. Now it is time to offer my own home and I hope that it provides a wonderful place to relax and share time with family and friends while inspiring you to get out and explore the incredible area of Yellowstone. A pet is an option with approval and small fee.
