Set on the coast of Lake Michigan, a short drive south of Saugatuck, Michigan, this cozy cabin vacation rental was designed and built in 1980 with a traditional Michigan-cottage style in mind. This unique rental comes set with four bedrooms and can sleep up to 8 guests including children. The main bedroom has a queen-size bed and French doors that open to the porch. The second bedroom offers a bunk bed (with a double bed mattress), and there is a double bed located on the screened porch with canvases for privacy. There is a stand-alone sleeping pavilion with a queen-size bed, too. brbr brbrThe kitchen offers guests everything they need to prepare themselves home-cooked meals, and the living areas of this cottage create an atmosphere where guests can return to their youth and a time when they enjoyed camping out with family and friends. There is no Wi-Fi or TV, but this encourages families to do things together and really connect in a way that just isn't possible anymore. Please note: there is no air conditioning either. There are tall trees surrounding the cabin so it's shaded. It’s very comfortable with ceiling fans, the double doors open and floor fans on, that really helps move the air with the screened in porch. brbr brbrOutside, not only will guests find themselves near Lake Michigan, just 10 minutes walk away, but there is also a barbecue, so guests can take the cooking outside for a bit of al fresco dining. As the sun sets, there is even a fire pit to light up, for roasting s'mores and swapping stories. brbr brbrFacilities here include a wood-burning fireplace, heating, linens, and towels. There is a fire pit/gas grill outside, and the hosts provide the wood/propane. Guests will also enjoy having private parking. The walkable beach is accessible from new Trex stairs and a large 40 foot deck overlooking the beach/Lake Michigan; both are lit at night. Take a mile-long walk around the quiet neighborhood over a wooden bridge and creek. Play croquet and other games in the large yard. The home has an open-concept main living space and kitchen with a four seasons room (with heated floors), all with lake views. Two tables can easily sit 16+ people. Three of the four bedrooms have king beds with closets; two share a hallway bathroom and the other has an ensuite bathroom and office space. The fourth bedroom sits in the back of the house and serves as a kids' bunk room/play space/TV room. It sleeps 10 with an ensuite bathroom with double sinks and hooks for all. The resort village of South Haven is 12 miles to the south and Saugatuck/Douglas 7 miles to the north. Available for rent May through October. Please check calendar for minimum nights required. br The cottage is approximately 800 Square feet with a 8x10 deck, perfect for a couple or a small family. There is a large living area with peaked wood plank ceiling ,kitchen, bath and 2 bedrooms that sleep a maximum of 4. All linens except beach towels are furnished. There is a wall furnace and a new 15,000 btu window air conditioner in the LR area. Wi-Fi and cable TV are available.br An easy stroll down a gravel path takes you to stairs that access the beach. There are two stairway options, stone steps to a lower deck and then on to the beach or easier wooden stairs to the north of the stone steps. See photos of both. Just to the south of us is West Side County Park and to the north more private beach. Our beach is marked private property though Michigan law does permit shore walkers. Please note the private beach is shared with the owners ( two old retired folks) and our family. After several years of high water on Lake Michigan the Lake levels are lower and we are again blessed with a great wide beach! Note that pool is now closed for 2025 season.brbrOld Owl has 3,800 SF of newly constructed space with 6 bedrooms and 4.5 baths. This custom designed and professionally decorated house is spread over 2 levels – pick your favorite area to relax and unwind. Perfect for either your own personal retreat or for multi-family use. The main level has a private owner’s en suite with a huge walk in shower and a balcony, an open great room with a gas fireplace (October-April) and lots of windows, a fully stocked chef’s kitchen, dining room, 2 guest bedrooms (with a shared bathroom) and powder room. Oh wait, there is also a sundeck and screened in porch for you to enjoy on summer days or sip coffee on those crisp fall mornings. Both overlook the pool area and serene woods. For May and October rentals - confirm pool will be open for your stay prior to booking as it based on weather. We have brand new luxurious bathrooms (2026), new (2024) Jacuzzi 7 person hot tub while looking out over the lush landscaped backyard that attracts hummingbirds, butterflies, deer and more. Afterwards sink into the oversized couch on the 3 seasons porch and just unwind. There is a big fire pit to roast s’mores a big Weber grill to grill out dinner. We have loads of toys, bikes, books, adjustable height basketball hoop, and games including a kid sized pac-man arcade game to keep everyone entertained. This is the perfect place for to build memories with your family and loved ones!brThe location is great! The tall trees and large lot of our home will make you relax from all the hustle and bustle but we are only about 8 mins from downtown Saugatuck, 7 miles from Oval beach, and 10 mins to Douglas. Close to u-pick fruit farms, wineries, and so much more. This is not your typical rental with a million random furniture pieces, we had our home professional decorated in 2021 which a comfortable, upscale, beach house feeling. We have a full sized crib with a new mattress, and lots of other baby stuff to maximize comfort for families.
