Stayed Jul 19, 2024This property is more than outstanding! If you are looking for a getaway to unplug, unwind, and really experience Michigan, this is the place to do it. Not only was the house unique and perfect for the stay. The history of the Cottage is so incredible! Don the owner has the most amazing stories of the art and history! As for the amenities in the cottage, you have everything you need. We stayed for 3 nights and 4 days. Traveled to all local areas easily. Enjoyed local farmers markets, downtown shopping and many local coffee shops and dining options. We enjoyed the beach during the day. My husband kayak the lake while I sat on the beach and read my book in quiet on our private area on the beach. The sunsets are to DIE FOR!! It was the perfect way to celebrate my birthday weekend. I recommend The Artist Cottage to anyone looking for the perfect Michigan getaway.

Stayed Jul 20, 2025We loved the studio! It was stocked with everything we needed and they thought of everything. A few highlights included very well placed extension cords, hand soap (not just those little trial size bars) in the kitchen and bathroom and a little vacuum. The steps to the beach were a little more rickety than we were expecting so we only visited once, but absolutely loved Pier Cove (1 mile) and West Side County Beach (1.5 miles) just a down the road. The drive was easy to get everywhere we needed r wanted to go. Loved that the gas station and farm market were super close!Great stay!

Stayed Sep 15, 2024You know this place is special as you approach down the driveway through the big, mature trees, and then finally see the lake once you arrive. From the cleanliness and coziness of the cottage, to the wonderful views of the water, you can't help but fall in love with this place. The beach is big and secluded, although you might see some neighbors down the way. As mentioned by others, there are lots of stairs, but it's worth the effort, and a good way to burn some calories :) Besides, these stairs are just a warmup for climbing the ones at Mount Baldhead! This location is perfectly placed between Saugatuck, Fennville, and South Haven. Saugatuck and Fennville are small, quaint towns, each with several restaurants, shops, and grocery stores, but no supermarkets or mega stores. Speaking of groceries, the kitchen is small, as mentioned in the description, but does have two small refrigerators for storing drinks and some food. The small bar has a fold-out top and two stools for sitting and eating. Anyway, as my title says, it's a great spot, and I'm so glad we discovered it. We hope to go back!

Stayed Jun 28, 2024I'm so happy my friend found this property. The house is so beautiful, cozy, and bright. The accommodations and the outdoor space are so comfortable. The stairs to the beach are a great workout but provide an almost fully private experience. We spent most of the full day at the beach reading and then creating a bonfire at sunset. :) I hope to be back soon with my boyfriend or mom and sisters!!!

Stayed Jun 19, 2024Everything about our stay was excellent. The rental was very cute with great art everywhere. The 9 minute drive into Saugatuck is very easy and you pass a farm stand, Saugatuck Brewing, and other great stops along the way. The owner Don was awesome to talk to and offered great suggestions around town. I wish we could have chatted with Don more, but he was very conscious to give us privacy. The only difficult part of the location is the 65 stairs to the beach, but we have an infant with us and were able to have fun with that too. We would love to stay here again!

Stayed May 24, 2024Great location - close to South Haven and Saugatuck Good view of lake Michigan - easy access down the stairs to the beach. Clean and a good size for a group of 4 Should know the owners live at the property so if you are looking for total privacy that may not always be the case during the summer months.
