Great lakefront property on Manistee Lake with recently remodeled patio area.

Kalkaska, Michigan, United States

This cottage offers 2,400 sqft spread over 3 floors including a rare lakefront walkout on Manistee Lake. We are positioned on the south side of the lake to take in the breathtaking sunrise and sunsets. brbrThe elevated deck AND patio area are very unique for Manistee Lake or most Northern MI cottage lake homes. Plenty of area for multiple family members to relax in chaise lounge chairs or Adirondack chairs in the sand pit or swivel chairs, outdoor couch and 4 person high top on the upper deck level.brbrThere are 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. The upstairs bedroom features a queen and twin bed. The main floor bedroom has a queen bed. The walkout features a queen bedroom and a loft area with a full bed and twin bunkbeds.brbrThe cottage is conveniently located 12 minutes northeast of Kalkaska and within a few miles of snowmobile, side by side and ATV trails while providing all sports lake access. There is a boat launch a few hundred yards away at the state park yet cottage is located on a very private dead end street. brbrThe lake has a sandy bottom and very clear to the last dock section. There are several different species of fish (we have yanked 18 pikes out) and depths range from 12 to 18 feet deep yet plenty deep for renters to bring in their own or rented boat for tubing, fishing or simple boat trolling cruises (there are eagle nests on the northern edge of the lake). Manistee Lake offers picturesque sunsets that cannot be missed especially from a boat view.br

Forrest’s Cabin - Lakefront with Sunset Views and Private Dock!

Kalkaska, Michigan, United States

Enjoy a lake get-away on Manistee Lake. This two bedroom home has brand new amenities and is ready to be your spot to enjoy Northern Michigan and all the area has to offer. brbrThe property owners recently acquired their childhood home...they grew up here! Our goal is to create a special place for you and your friends and family to make memories and enjoy BBQ's, beachfront, sunsets, and to relax.brbrbrGUEST INTERACTION:brbrOur local property manager, Tabitha, is available when needed for specific things : )brbrbrNEIGHBORHOOD:brbrThe location of the property is right in the heart of northern Michigan, so it's really a great location to explore all that northern Michigan has to offer! The cottage is about a 15-minute drive from downtown Kalkaska, which is a cute little northern Michigan town with a nice collection of shops, restaurants, cafes, bars, and a grocery store. Kalkaska County (in which the cottage is located) is regionally famous for lakes, fishing, hiking, boating, outdoor / nature activities, and snowmobiling. (The county is in a snow belt section of Michigan and gets a great deal of lake-effect snow.) Snowmobiling trails in the area are readily accessible from the cottage. Skiing and snowboarding are also very popular in the area. Forbush Corner is a great place for nordic cross-country skiing and is only 16.6 miles east of the cottage. Similarly, Mount Holiday provides downhill skiing and snowboarding and is only about 30 miles west of the cottage!brbrThe cottage is also only 20 minutes away from Torch Lake, which, with its famous turquoise-colored water, is widely regarded as the most beautiful and popular inland lake in all of Michigan! Torch Lake makes for a fun day trip and additional sites to see. The little town of Alden on Torch Lake is also very charming and enchanting.brbrIf bigger city activities are desired, although the cottage is in a very natural and peaceful setting, it is actually only a 45-minute drive from Traverse City. Traverse City is the tourism, entertainment, dining, and financial hub for all of northern Michigan and, in addition to lots of scenic natural beauty associated with its location on Lake Michigan, the city has a wide and wonderful array of shops, restaurants, cafes, museums, and nightlife.brbrbrTHE SPACE:brbrHuge front yard with gorgeous views. If you'd like to adventure a little further, you can easily explore Charlevoix, Petoskey, or head to historic Mackinac Island for the day.brbrFor a shorter stay, simply relax with a good book by the lake or enjoy some good music and the beautiful views from any room in the cabin. We also provide two kayaks, a row boat and a paddle boat for guest use from spring until early fall! Or, if you would simply love a change of scenery while you work from home, come enjoy the beautiful lake views while using our complimentary wifi.brbrMore PhotosbrbrDon't miss the complete website photo gallery of over 70 photos to see the cabin and property in each of the four uniquely beautiful seasons in Kalkaska. You can also get the full picture by following our cute little knotty pine cabin on Instagram @quinn_cabin or on Facebook @Quinn Cabin, Kalkaska. There is also a feed to our Instagram page right at the bottom of this site. We are pretty active on social media throughout the year, so make sure to check it out!brbrOur Commitment to Our GuestsbrbrWe know that there are hundreds of places you could choose to rent for your family vacation, and that you want it to be a wonderful experience. Purchasing a family cabin has been a lifelong dream of ours, and a decision that resulted after more than two years of searching. Since we bought Quinn Cabin in late 2019, we have continued to improve the property so that it feels comfortable and homey- not just for our family, but also for yours!brbrWe promised if we were going to open the cabin to guests, we were going to do it the right way. We shopped around for some of the most comfy furniture, highly rated kayaks, soft bed and bath linens, and quality kitchenware. We hired an outstanding cleaner and have great contractor partners, so any emergency needs can be addressed immediately. Your enjoyment, safety and comfort are ALWAYS our top priorities.brbrAlways Building BetterbrbrIn order to ensure your stay is worry-free, we continue to make necessary and desirable updates. In the first year and a half we added forced air conditioning and heat with new ductwork throughout the cabin, upgraded the electrical, replaced the water heater, updated the bathroom complete with a custom tile shower and all new everything, replaced the water pump, replaced the old septic system, and gave the kitchen a complete facelift including new appliances and under-cabinet lighting. In 2025, we added new stone-coated steel roofing, replaced the gas grill, and added new outdoor furniture including a sturdy picnic table and adirondack chairs. In 2026, our focus is on curb appeal- painting the exterior of the cabin and outbuildings as well as the mailbox and planters, and giving the stairs to the lake a glow-up. We will continue to improve over the next couple years with new docks, attractive landscaping, and an upgraded patio area and fire pit down by the lake. brbrFor ChildrenbrbrWe provide two pack 'n plays*, two booster seats for the dining table, bibs, children's utensils and dishes, games and basic arts and crafts supplies. Our kids love playing by the lake- and swimming during summertime! They also love to explore the property, including our undeveloped lot directly across the street. You and your kids will likely find a variety of wildlife around the property including squirrels, chipmunks, deer, colorful insects, woodpeckers and other colorful birds, owls, raccoons, various mushrooms, toads, frogs, geese, loons, heron, crayfish, snails, bluegill, bass and trout...just to name a few. A short five minute drive away you can also take the kids to the Imagination Station at Chalker Park.brbr*Please note that we do not provide any infant or child-sized bed linens or small bath towels for babies and toddlers. Please make sure to include those in your packing list.brbrbrEnhanced CleaningbrbrWe understand that many travelers are intentionally choosing vacation rentals over hotels out of an abundance of caution since the pandemic. We adhere to Airbnb's Enhanced Cleaning Process, diligently following CDC cleaning protocols.brbrPetsbrbrHave you made it this far and wonder if your pet can come along for vacation We certainly understand how much your fur friends mean to you. Unfortunately, guest pets are not allowed. But don't worry! If you don't have a preferred kennel or close friend who cares for your pet when you're away, we've had only great experiences using the Rover app to hire pet sitters and house sitters! And, honestly, vacations are more relaxing when you don't have to see to potty breaks or other unexpected pet accidents throughout the trip.
