Coastal Villa for Memorable Moments Along Coast of Maine

Castine, Maine, United States

Imagine discovering a property with two (2) dwellings* nested perfectly to ensure exceptional view corridors to the sea, while also allowing a family or friends group to mingle but also elude each other.brbrDelight in a well-appointed, not stuffy but comfortable, secluded compound. A place you can nap after tennis, enjoy a good coffee and book, or stay up late under the stars sipping wine with old friends and laughing effortlessly.br*Please note for a few weeks the Tiny House can be included for extra 250/ night. Which is why pics included.brNow consider that it’s in the most adorable seaside village in Maine. A legendary and near mythical village- with a local cast of characters not soon forgotten.brbrThis is an extraordinary bundling of two structures on the same property. A Big House and a new Carriage House. This allows a cohort of friends & family to gather together, dine under the moon or also isolate with their immediate family for indoor dining, etc. brbrOur home is airy and light-filled; south-facing with ample decks, terraces and even a rooftop lounge from which to take in the salty air and sea breezes; enjoy a shared meal ‘al fresco’ or play board games with your multi-generational horde. In other words our cottage compound is designed specifically to induce relaxation and restore tranquility. brbrThe lot sits high atop a hill in Castine with panoramic views of the bay, it is south-facing; ensuring lots of sunshine and, aside from a neighbor to the West, quiet and private -unlike most in Castine. brbrEight bedrooms yet with ability to accommodate others -on fold out couches, etc -means the price/ person is cheaper than a youth hostel but as splendid as any area hotel. In other words it’s a great value, leaving plenty of hard-earned dollars left over for lobster rolls, ice cream and frozen drinks.brbrSkip the elevators and daily change overs, the license plates from ‘round the country and the hustle and bustle of nearby Bar Harbor- this summer treat yourself and your loved ones to a private estate, near to almost anything you desire (tennis, golf, hiking and biking, beach fires and s’mores!) but yet far from stranger danger!brbrThis summer travel ‘Downeast’ and ruminate, rusticate and relaxicate at Ted’s ‘Summah Palazzo’!

Secluded Sunset Retreat on Penobscot Bay

Castine, Maine, United States

Built in 1967, our authentic Maine “camp” sits right on Penobscot Bay at the end of a 1/2 mile-long private wooded lane, just 3.5 miles north of the historic village of Castine.brbrSituated on the southern fringe of Turners Point (directly across from Belfast), it has stunning sunsets and views of the Camden Hills. brbrA 75 ft. path through the bunchberries takes you down to our private beach. We own over 300 ft of a sandy/cobblestone mix, where you can swim at high tide, or lounge with a book, or take long walks on an almost uninhabited beach. Or, just soak in the long view south down Penobscot Bay. brbrWith very few neighbors (who also have large wooded tracts and long stretches of beach) we offer you seclusion - and nature in all its glory. (Our nearest northern neighbor is 300 feet away, and southern, more than 500, all through thick woods.)brbrWith many of the amenities of home, our cabin is a perfect retreat for the bird watcher, the writer, or someone simply wanting to get away from it all. Yet there are restaurants and markets, movies, concerts, and museums, as well as a quaint New England village steeped in Maine's seafaring history, just minutes away.brbrListen to the ravens and the loons. See seals basking on rocks and eagles cruising right over head, all summer long. Catch the deer foraging for apples in what used to be an old orchard, or forage for your own raspberries along the lane. And at extremely low tide, look for mussels, sea urchins, starfish, and more. If you especially love nature accompanied by most of modern day conveniences, our place could be just right for you.brbrPLEASE NOTE: Our maximum capacity is 6 people total, and is not available for large gatherings such as events, weddings, reunions, graduation parties, etc.brbrOne other note is that the two ell bedrooms are accessible only from the porch (and not from the main cabin).brbrIf you are a new guest to our cottage, please contact us with your inquiry BEFORE requesting a booking! That way we can better help you decide if our property and the area are a good fit for you and your group. Inquiries can be made through this listing.brbrKEYWORDS: Writers and Nature Retreat

Large Cottage w Ocean Views.

Castine, Maine, United States

This is an immaculate, comfortable cottage. By 'comfortable' I mean well-appointed, attractive, plush furnishings but not priceless fragile family heirlooms. It does possess original art, artifacts and furniture by recognized Maine artists, and authentic nautical motifs throughout - some salvaged from the training ship of Maine Maritime Academy. Coastal but not cluttered.brbrEverything is new or recently remodeled (2009)- Kitchen, Baths, Bedrooms, Hardwood floors, etc. Freshly landscaped, wooded boundaries, southern exposure, and view corridors to the sea provide the greenery, sunshine and warmth every vacation demands!brbrProperty is 500 yards from nearby Witherle Woods Wilderness Preserve- 168 acres overlooking 100' ocean bluff providing unobstructed views of Penobscot Bay: Get lost for 1-3 hours, discover abundance of Osprey, Eagle, Raccoon, and Deer. In fact, 38 bird species call this home!brbrThree decks -and new Weber grill -provide ample opportunity and space to relax, ruminate and rusticate aka “grillin, chillin, and millin”. 3.5 baths ensures hygiene never waits. brbrMinutes to the fine restaurants of downtown or “Back-shore” for sunset swimming and bonfires! Ideal for large family retreat or two-family getaway!brbrAnd when/ if you tire of the slow, bucolic setting that is Castine, consider our cottage as ‘base camp’ to other more hectic coastal enclaves such as Camden, Bar Harbor or the outer islands! brbrFive bedrooms total.brFive queens, two twins. Sleeps 12-14, if two care for a couch.brbrOptional: New, and adorable, Tiny House is separated by 6’ from BH. Extra fee $149/ night. Sleeps 2-4. (Separately, it commands $249/ night).brbrAlso new: Carriage House (CH) is available separately and sleeps 6-8 in three bedrooms plus conv couch. In other words, you will be sharing the property but not accommodations. The only thing they share is the driveway. Assigned parking, separate laundry and outside sitting areas as well as mature landscape helps keep things private and orderly. IOW: If you rent one you can expect to find others enjoying the other. They were designed and sited to maximize privacy and optimize view corridors.
