There is also a fire pit area near the water perfect for enjoying s’mores.brbrWe provide plenty of water toys for your enjoyment: 2 one person kayaks with paddles, a canoe (May through September), a large 6 x 18 floating island mat (Memorial Day through September), 3 floating lounge chairs, and many life jackets available for your use, all complimentary! It is a great place for kids to swim with 6’ depth at the end of the dock, gradually getting shallower towards the shore. Enjoy easy entry into the lake on large steps off the dock with a handrail. Several marinas are nearby to rent a boat or jet ski, and a large public boat ramp is located within 2 miles.brbrGreat Creek has 2 miles to tube, ski, wakeboard, kayak and fish. Protected from the main lake by a culvert, Great Creek limits some of the boat traffic you will find on the main lake on busier days. In only a few minutes, you can take a short boat ride under the bridge to the main lake. Lake Gaston, located on the border of Virginia and North Carolina, is roughly 35 miles long and covers over 20,000 acres with 350 miles of shoreline.brbrThe Great Creek Landing subdivision is less than 10 minutes from I-85, with rolling hills perfect for walking or jogging. Located on the border of Virginia and North Carolina, it is roughly 35 miles long and covers over 20,000 acres with 350 miles of shoreline. It has an average depth of 40 feet but is 95 feet at its deepest point. Bounded by the Kerr Dam and Gaston Dam, it is a managed lake and therefore its water level fluctuates within only one foot under normal conditions year round. Lake Gaston is fed by water from Kerr Lake upstream and supplies water to Roanoke Rapids Lake and the Roanoke River downstream. Heading north, you can enter the river portion of Lake Gaston in about 20 minutes from Great Creek. The river offers miles of calm, deep water and straight runs for water sports. And, the water flowing from Kerr Lake is cool and refreshing even in the summer.brbrWith virtually no pollution, Lake Gaston water is almost drinkable without treatment (having the highest water-quality rating in eastern US by both states: High, Level II rating). No matter the season, Dawn on the Lake is the perfect place to social distance, relax and get away from it all.brbrThe house has three cozy levels nestled into the bank of the Poplar creek. The road or upper-level contains a five-space parking area connected to the house by a raised walkway. The upper-level entrance is equipped with a smart lock. Covered in bamboo flooring, the upper-level has two bedrooms that share a full bath: the Thunderbolt Room has a king-size bed and a double-size futon; and, the Bowtie Room has a queen-size bed.brbrThe laminated main or middle-level has an open floor plan with a living room, eat-in kitchen, entertainment area, and full bath. The kitchen is well-equipped with a flat-top stove/oven, dishwasher, microwave, Keurig, coffee grinder, toaster, and refrigerator, and is stocked with plates, bowls, glasses, coffee mugs, silverware, pots, pans, and utensils. The dining table seats eight, and the kitchen has a breakfast bar with seven stools in the entertainment area. The living room and entertainment area are perfect gathering spots and serve as additional sleeping areas with a pull-out queen-size sofa bed. The living room opens up to a large screened-in deck with a ceiling fan where you can relax and enjoy the sunset over the lake. The unscreened portion of the deck has a gas grill and exterior steps which lead to the lake-level and lower parking.brbrThe lake-level has two bedrooms and two full bathrooms. The Moon Room with its stunning lake-view is furnished with a king-size bed and contains an ensuite full bath. The Seashell Room has a queen-size bed and a double-size futon. The lake-level has a separate full bath, and the gathering room between the bedrooms has a double-size futon. On the lake-level you will find a full-sized washer/dryer, a second refrigerator, and an exterior exit to another parking area with three additional parking spaces.brbrDawn on the Lake provides outdoor activities for the whole family. The lakeside front yard is grass-covered and perfect for play, swinging under the pergola, or a good night story next to the fire pit under the night sky filled with stars. The property has a private pier equipped with rubber bumpers from which you can safely fish, float, and swim. The water is relatively shallow, so jumping or diving from the dock is not permitted. If you have a boat, you can launch at the recreational area just minutes away and dock at the pier. The beautiful, wide creek is great for water skiing, jet skiing, fishing, or just cruising. A canoe and kayak are available for your use. Paddles are included, but be sure to bring your own life jackets. brbrThe house is child-friendly, but not child-proof. There are emergency exits on each level. Each level is equipped with a fire extinguisher: on the upper level, at the entrance to the house; on the middle level, in front of the refrigerator; and on the lower level, by the door. Board games are available for use, and the house has TVs and a DVD player. The house is climate controlled with heat and air conditioning on all three levels. Linens and towels are provided, but must be washed, dried, and returned to their original location upon departure. Check-in is 4:00 pm. Check-out is 10:00 am. The cleaning crew arrives at 10:30 am.

Main level has a well-equipped kitchen that opens to a spacious dining area (large table will accommodate 12 guests) and great room with TV and two comfortable sleeper sofas (Queen Size). The master bedroom (King Size) with en-suite Jacuzzi bath and walk in shower, 2nd bedroom (Queen Size) and additional full bath are also on the main level. Both bedrooms face the lake with sliding barn and glass doors for easy lake access and viewing. Lower level has a relaxing TV area, game room with a large leather sectional sofa, an 8’ pool table, 4 captain’s chairs, a bar and 4 bar stools. In addition, the lower level offers a 2nd master bedroom (Queen Size) with en-suite bath, a bunk room with 2 sets of double bunk beds (Twin Size) and pull down murphy bed (Queen Size), full bath and laundry room with a 2nd full sized refrigerator/freezer. As on the main level, both lower level bedrooms face the lake and have sliding glass doors. A large upper deck facing the lake is perfect for outdoor dining, entertaining and grilling.
