The property features a historic home, secluded privacy on over 11 acres of waterfront, mature trees and stunning views of the river. brbrThe home is old and has all of the interesting nuances of a historic home that has been added onto over the years. Despite this, all major appliances, utilities, HVAC and equipment have been recently replaced and the house gets regular updates each spring and fall. The property itself sits atop a steep bank over the river which is part of the reason why the views are so stunning. At the base of the bank and directly adjacent to the property is a small public boat launch and a sandbar. At the other end of the property where the grade is more gentle you will find the boat slips, small boat shed and a sandy walk in for launching the smaller boats.brbrWhen you're here, it's easy to forget the rest of the world. The house has been in our family for 5 generations. Before that it was home to a local waterman who worked the bay harvesting oysters and crabs. Earlier still, before the house stood, the land was a frequent fall gathering spot for local tribes who used the bluff to roast oysters. Arrowheads and pottery are still found from time to time in the fields. brbrThe covered pier is provided for guests who would like to bring their own boat. If you don't have your own boat feel free to use one of our kayaks, sunfish or canoe. Fishing is good and many guests have good luck directly off the pier. Others choose to paddle out to nearby Sharkstooth Island and fish along the way. Please note, the pier and boathouse are at water level while the house sits atop a small bluff. As such, guests with health issues which make inclined paths difficult may prefer to walk or drive to the public pier on the other side of the property.brbrCurrioman Landings is a very special place to us, we are sure that you will enjoy it as much as we do. You'll LOVE the view of the Potomac River from our eclectic riverfront cabin. Find peace and quiet in the woods overlooking a wide stretch of the river where you can catch a glimpse of local fishermen collecting blue crabs. Enjoy watching Bald Eagles soaring through the trees while sipping your morning coffee on the deck. This cabin offers a place to make time to relax and gaze at nature close up.brbrThe interior layout is open. Baths are on the first floor. There is a master bedroom with a queen size bed; its bath has a small shower; the hall bath has a full shower/tub surround. Our favorite morning coffee spot is what we call the gazing room which is accessed by either the master bedroom or living room; it features floor to ceiling windows to take in the awesome river view. The upstairs has two small bedrooms - both with a queen bed. In all there are 3 queen beds in the cabin as well as a sleeper sofa in the living room. Internet service is fast--there are TV's located in the living/kitchen area, the master bedroom and one of the second floor bedrooms as well as a large screen TV in the basement rec room--use your own subscriptions for streaming. There is a clothes washer & dryer in the basement as well as an additional recreational area with plenty of seating. The kitchen is fully stocked with all the necessities including a dishwasher, programmable coffee maker, toaster oven and blender as well as pots, pans, and dishware. There is an electric grill to be used outside on the patio.brbrWe're only a few minutes away from Westmoreland State Park where kayak rental, beaches, walking trails, fossil hunting and Potomac river exploration is available. The Northern Neck has ample waterfront areas; The Potomac and Rappahannock rivers are always nearby wherever you are. The cabin location is convenient to nearby Colonial Beach and is very close to Stratford Hall Plantation and several other historic sites. brbrOur favorite things to do:brVisit local wineries -- Ingleside, General's Ridge, Back Porch and Monroe Bay.brSample local craft beers at Montross Brewery or in Colonial Beach at Colonial Beach Brewery and Ice House. brEating out at our favorite restaurants: Angelo's, Coles Point Tavern, Tim's at Coles Point, Northern Neck Burger, & Relish.brWe LOVE Dockside in Colonial Beach for it's ambiance on the water, food and weekend nightly music. brbrWe LOVE the peace, quiet and views of our cabin on the river. It sits high on a wooded bluff; the river is not accessible from our location. Please do not venture down to the river edge of the property; the ground is sandy and will give way. Our cabin is not available for groups of more than six. Sorry, amenities located within our neighborhood are for owner use only.
