This is a new brewery within Montross so we are still exploring our favorites! We are very excited about the live music they will be featuring. Brooke always says, The Northern Neck is the mini-Nashville for musical talent! Continue along Kings Highway for approximately 30-minutes to Ingleside Vineyard. We enjoy the Coastal Red and think you will too. Food trucks are typically on site and always delicious, but even better is when they host an oyster event. On our way home we sometimes return to Montross Brewery to enjoy the nightly live music and the brick oven pizza! brbrIf you want to travel in the opposite direction, we typically start off the day at General's Ridge Vineyard. Since General's Ridge is owned by a Marine, Jose always ensures he sounds off with a loud OORAH! The grounds are lush and boast historic housing on the property. If you like darts, we always enjoy a little competition with the kids while sipping on our favorite wine, Semper Fi. We then make our way down to Hague Winery. The simple grounds with the cozy barn are always welcoming. On a hot or rainy day, we love sitting outside under the barn canopy. On those hot summer days, we always look forward to a little Rosé. If Lala’s Kitchen on Wheels makes an appearance, we never miss a trip to Hague Winery! brbrEXPANDING YOUR MIND KIND-OF-WEEKEND:brWestmoreland County and the surrounding areas are rich in history. The birthplace of George Washington and James Monroe can be found in Colonial Beach. We really love visiting the grounds of George Washington’s birthplace and then make our way over to the picnic area and launch the kayaks off the dock of the Monroe family farm. After picnicking we head back towards the house, but not before we make a stop at Strafford Hall, the home of the Lee family (you could spend the whole day here). The grounds are spectacular and we can lay on the rolling hills behind the main house for hours! Stafford Hall hosts events throughout the year but our favorite is the Oyster and Wine Festival! During that event we don’t really retain much history, but always leave full and happy. Another fun historical stop is the Westmoreland County Museum and Library. Permanent exhibits include portraits of Westmoreland County’s historical figures, fossils, and Native American artifacts. brbrTREASURE HUNTING: brThis is Brooke’s favorite weekend adventure and the one she is most excited to share! Just down the beautiful canopy road of Erica Drive, make your way to Murphy’s Hardware and Garden. The owner Rebecca knows everything, and if you need some plants, tools, paint, or seeds she will gladly help you out. Flanking the main barn is where the treasures can be found, two large buildings full of antiques await you. Also, within the main barn there are local made artistry items that you can’t pass up. Done treasure hunting, then hit the road towards Warsaw. Side note, on the way to Warsaw, we can never pass by Garners Farmer Market without stopping in for local produce and meat, but especially for the ice cream sandwiches and bacon, it’s a MUST stop. Those sandwiches will leave you with cravings for days to come! brbrDowntown Warsaw has some cute shops but our favorite for new treasures is Colonial Collectibles. The oyster painting within our home came from this store. brbrKeep on trucking to Tappanhannock until you reach Acme Antiques, can’t miss it! You can be in this three-level store for hours, whether your finding treasures or simply laughing at what they have inside, you will definitely take a bunch of photos to send home! If you didn’t indulge in the ice cream sandwich at Garners, stop by Acme’s ice cream shop next store. Even if you don’t want ice cream its super cute inside. brbrAfter a day of treasure hunting, we always stop by Northern Neck Burgers on our way home. Not only are the burgers amazing but the lobster roll is even more delicious. The milk shakes are always a hit for both the young and old! Be sure to wash your hands in the restroom.brbrNATURE and EXERCISE:brWe often utilize our kayaks to cruise around outback. We typically head over to the nature preserve, directly across the water from our place, and look for fossils. If you are biker, our neighborhood has plenty of beautiful farm and country roads to enjoy. We always take a run or walk with our pup, Lincoln, around the bend towards the Potomac River (when you leave Chatham Village-our neighborhood just stay right). brbrAnother adventure is hiking around Westmoreland State Park. The cliffs overlooking the Potomac are impressive. On certain Saturdays throughout the summer, the park features live music on the cliffs; that’s always a special treat. Westmoreland State Park has a tone of activities you can enjoy like shark tooth necklace crafts, birdhouse painting, turtle feeding, and fossil hiking. brbrIn the opposite direction, Rappahannock River Valley National Wildlife Refuge Hutchinson Unit in Tappahannock offers 2-miles of trails through meadows, forests along with a platform overlooking the grasslands. brbrRappahannock River Valley National Wildlife Refuge, 20,000 acres of wetlands with 4 federally-listed threatened or endangered species may be found. brbrWilna Unit is 976-acres, that feature 5 different hiking trails and observation decks. brbrWe saved the best for last, Stan’s Skateland right here in Montross! Step back into your childhood and or bring the kiddo’s. Always a fun time! brbrbrFarmers Markers and Local Markets:br1. Warsaw Market, Friday’s from 11am-7pm. Town parking lot, on the main streetbr2. Tappahannock Farmers Market, 3rd Saturday from 9am-1pm (May-November). Cross and Prince Street, Tappahannock.br3. Pammy’s Produce, Tuesday-Sunday at 9:30am -until she feels like closing. 715 S. Erica’s Mall – This is our local bodega. brbr*** There are local grocery stores and chain restaurants if that’s your cup of tea, but we did not list above. Food Loin is the closest large grocery store! brbrHopefully you will not need these facilities, but just encase. Stunning Riverfront Property - New Listing

Montross, Virginia, United States

Welcome to the Northern Neck! Come enjoy this beautiful 8 acre property right on Nomini creek, adjacent to the Potomac River. This home is located in Montross Va, which has a rich history in oyster harvesting, as the home was once used as an oyster wharf. Once you get closer to the home, traffic will lessen, and life will get a little bit slower. When arriving to the property, it will feel very private, almost secluded. Even so, great restaurants, and grocery stores are only a short drive away. brbrThe property has its own private gated entry, and is fenced in. Before you enter the home you will see some of the outdoor opportunities. There are several flat areas in the yard for recreation, including areas by the water for corn hole. There is a large outdoor cauldron for fires with seating around. A very large dock that is lit at night from dusk till dawn. Boat, and jetskis are not available to use or rent, but you are welcome to bring your boat or jetskis and tie off at the dock.brbrThe screened in wharf is another special outdoor area with over 500sqft of space. There are several couches, and chairs to relax in. Have lunch or dinner outdoors with the help of the outdoor kitchen. The outdoor kitchen includes a full sized refrigerator with an ice maker, a propane grill, and a prep-table with a cold water sink. The area has beautiful bronze marine lighting, string lighting, and fans for those hot summer days.brbrOnce inside the house, the floor plan is an open concept with the main kitchen, living room, and dining room as one, so everyone can be together. The house has a bonus living room on the lower level, as well as a bonus kitchen on the lower level. There are 4 bedrooms, and a loft, which can sleep up to 12 people. The top lighthouse area is not accessible for the safety of our guests. Three bathrooms which two have showers, and one is a shower/tub combo. Both living rooms, and 2 of the bedrooms have large 55 plus inch smart TVs. Central air conditioning for year around comfort, and WiFi. brbrAlong with the wharf there are 2 other porches. The first faces the entrance of the home. The other being on the second floor off of the kitchen and living room. This one has amazing views of the water and land around. Privacy and space with world class views

Montross, Virginia, United States

Come enjoy this historic home and estate. The views are spectacular and will take your breath away! The property features a historic home, secluded privacy on over 11 acres of waterfront, mature trees and stunning views of the river. brbrThe home is old and has all of the interesting nuances of a historic home that has been added onto over the years. Despite this, all major appliances, utilities, HVAC and equipment have been recently replaced and the house gets regular updates each spring and fall. The property itself sits atop a steep bank over the river which is part of the reason why the views are so stunning. At the base of the bank and directly adjacent to the property is a small public boat launch and a sandbar. At the other end of the property where the grade is more gentle you will find the boat slips, small boat shed and a sandy walk in for launching the smaller boats.brbrWhen you're here, it's easy to forget the rest of the world. The house has been in our family for 5 generations. Before that it was home to a local waterman who worked the bay harvesting oysters and crabs. Earlier still, before the house stood, the land was a frequent fall gathering spot for local tribes who used the bluff to roast oysters. Arrowheads and pottery are still found from time to time in the fields. brbrThe covered pier is provided for guests who would like to bring their own boat. If you don't have your own boat feel free to use one of our kayaks, sunfish or canoe. Fishing is good and many guests have good luck directly off the pier. Others choose to paddle out to nearby Sharkstooth Island and fish along the way. Please note, the pier and boathouse are at water level while the house sits atop a small bluff. As such, guests with health issues which make inclined paths difficult may prefer to walk or drive to the public pier on the other side of the property.brbrCurrioman Landings is a very special place to us, we are sure that you will enjoy it as much as we do. We have been continually improving the property to ensure that not only do you have a pleasant experience but that every time you come back there is something new to see and enjoy. brbrFor years this has been a sleepy part of the world, home to farmers, watermen and few others. Making our home available to the public is a part of our family’s mission for rural preservation. We believe that history and open spaces are critical and that they must be preserved and enjoyed by all. For that reason 100% of all rental income is invested for preservation of the property and the protection of local farm lands from development.brbrCome sit on the swing, look out over the river and get back to the things that matter most.brbrWe hope that you will visit Currioman and enjoy it as much as we do.
