The ocean views from almost every room of our mid-century modern home are truly amazing. The coast has majestic rock formations that the waves crash over and make cascading waterfalls with each wave. Listening to the waves as you fall asleep each night is very relaxing. Our home is large and all rooms are spacious, all one level with no stairs. We live here as well as rent it while we travel so we chose quality in all areas of the home. Recently purchased, we have replaced all the flooring, all the furniture, beds and bedding, window treatments, freshly painted inside and out, top to bottom. You can have a BBQ on the deck while enjoying enjoy the views. There are many seabirds that are always in the sky, pelicans and osprey fishing in the surf is our favorite. Of course the seagulls off in the distance with their signature calls completes the scene. brbrThe town of Brookings is a fishing harbor and the seafood is fresh and delicious. Buy fresh fish or crab from the docks and cook at home or chose from the many restaurants in town. Or, for an adventure, take advantage of one of the many fishing fleets in the harbor and catch the fish yourself. You can antique shop, go to the movie theatre. Please note, beach access is on a city maintained trail right from our house to the beach. 10-15 minute stroll along a path. Or you drive a 1/4 mile and park at the beach. brbrThere are also really interesting hiking options. Stroll along the beaches that you can see from the house or take short drives to numerous beach trails or hike in redwood forests. Oceans, rivers and forests…hard to beat! We allow pets only if they are completely potty trained. We have new carpetting in the bedrooms and if there any accidents there will be $100 - $300 charge.

Short miles to Riverside Market going back to town or Loeb Park heading up river. As only locals know Brookings is home to the beautiful banana belt which comes with a marine layer frequent in the summer. Just above the fog line, enjoy a short trip to the ocean for the day and then retreat to sunshine and a swim in the river at Loeb Park or one of the many river bars on the Chetco. br The South Wing consists of two large schoolrooms. One with a modest kitchen and open living room. The living room has two couches and a futon that can be used as a bed. The second houses the library books from the school along with 3 queen sized beds. The large bathroom has an overhead shower and roomy stall area. br The North wing is more cozy and not as bright. Has a cabin feel with the one schoolroom equipped with a king and a queen bed in the same large studio room as kitchen and living room area. The bathroom is the mirror of the South wing bathroom with overhead shower and floor drain. Two very small office rooms are off the hallway. One room has a single twin and the next has a single bed with trundle. These rooms lead into the laundry room for the entire rental. The third small half bathroom is sandwiched between the gym and game room and labeled outhouse.br Converted from school rooms, this rental is unique and unconventional. Some of the perks include a playground and gym at your doorstep, an outdoor shower, a game room with pool, ping pong, air hockey, and foosball table, a large stone fire pit, an outdoor basketball court, a library with hundreds of interesting reads, and spacious rooms. Surrounded by horse pastures we have a large parking area and are fully wheelchair accessible. Enjoy the Upper Chetco ideally located at the gateway to the Upper Chetco River and the Kalmiopis Wilderness area.

Private stairs from the backyard lead down to a sandy beach near the mouth of the Winchuck River (please be aware we do not maintain the shoreline- there could be driftwood or sea matter on the sand that you may have to walk around or step over). Watch boats, whales, sea lions, and the changing flow of the mouth of the Winchuck River. In winter watch amazing storm waves and the driftwood that piles up and disappears with each storm.brbrThis home provides all of the basic necessities for your stay. Including linens, a user-friendly kitchen, Roku access, and WiFi. Enjoy the spacious deck with a good book or curl up on the couch to watch the ocean.
