There are always boats passing by, seals playing and even Orca sightings right in front of the house. The small Beach to the right leads into town and the Main Beach to the left is only 200 yards away.brbrOur home is furnished with all of the best equipment including a Bose Stereo Music System with surround sound, Flat Screen TV, Wet Bar, a state of the art kitchen with a Wolf Range and top of the line OvenMicrowave system. The rustic, cedar shake cottage and flower garden are located directly on an estuary and Redmon Pond—and nestled two blocks from the beach on the South Jetty of the Coquille River, in Bandon, Oregon.brbrThe Space:brThe cedar-walled main bedroom sleeps two on a queen-sized Nectar memory foam mattress—and has a cozy window nook with a view of migrating birds on Redmon Pond. Imported stained glass windows and recently refinished Douglas Fir floors accent the beautiful cedar walls and open-beamed ceilings throughout. Custom beach-rock entry and hearth with cozy Jötul wood burning stove will keep you warm. Equipped for light cooking, the kitchen has a small electric range/oven, small dishwasher, full-size fridge and a toaster. There is a 32” HDTV with Apple TV (netflix, hulu, hbo) available for your use in the den. There is a walk-in shower with wood walls and slate floor in the bathroom. Once home to a local ceramics artist in the 70’s and 80’s (her studio is out back) the cottage pays tribute to her with an eclectic collection of ceramics and fine art I’ve been scrounging from galleries, thrift & antique stores for the last 25 years. brbrThe 650 sq ft cottage was hand-built in the 1950’s by a master carpenter with driftwood and salvaged lumber that washed ashore on nearby Black Rock Beach. There are four other houses nearby that he built as well. See if you can spot them! Fall asleep in a piece of Bandon’s unique hand-crafted artisan history—along with the peaceful sounds of Redmon Pond frogs, beach waves crashing—or the soothing South Jetty foghorn in the distance. The stars are insane here.brbrGetting Around:brBlack Rock Beach is a two-block walk, the town of Bandon is a ten minute walk with it's famous Old Town and restaurants, crab shacks, bars and shops! You can crab from the pier in town and rent crabbing supplies at the Bait Shop. They’ll even cook and clean your crabs at Tony’s Crab Shack - in the harbor.brbrOther Details to Note:brThe house is very small. Please watch your head. brbrThe cozy kitchen is equipped for light cooking. As there is no ventilation in the kitchen, we ask guests to please keep cooking simple (no stinky fish, keep lids on boiling pots, etc).brbrThe cottage is adjacent to a wildlife refuge/estuary and pond. There are three resident geese that walk through the property, which can be enchanting, but there are other more opportunistic critters that reside along side them that are less enchanting. Please be aware this is “the country” and as magical as this place may seem, nature is present and often seeks shelter from the elements. We do our best to keep things at bay while existing in tandem with nature while we are living here. The living room and dining rooms are located downstairs with two large sliders for enjoying the ocean view from both areas. A comfortable bench and a writing table is located in the loft for viewing the ocean also. The living room has a comfy large reclining sofa and loveseat. Turn on the electric fireplace and take a nap with one of the soft throws provided. Or watch your favorite movie on the large screen TV. There is also a TV in the upstairs bedroom. There is a 15 steps to second main floor with a hand rail on both sides of stairway.brbrThe upstairs kitchen, dining, living entertainment area has a partial ocean view, TV with basic cable and streaming available. WIFI internet included. This room is where everyone hangs out together! Walk out on the balcony and enjoy the ocean breeze! br brGrandma's house has 5 bedrooms total. There are 4 queen bedrooms; two upstairs, two downstairs along with a downstairs bunk room (two bunk beds and two single beds). brbrNo parties, only people that are booked as guests. br10 guests maximum brbrSORRY, NO PETS ALLOWED. brbrGrandma's house has two bathrooms: The upstairs bathroom has a tub/shower combo with grab bars, washer and dryer. Great views with lots of bedrooms (5 plus loft) make this a great vacation home. It is quite easy access for those who don't want to do a lot of stairs, only requiring a few to get into the house, then it is all but the loft on the same level. Enjoy wonderful ocean views from the living, kitchen, dining, loft, deck and master bedroom.brHouse layout:brThe front door leads stright through to the living /dining area, or left to the kitchen, all of which have wonderful views. There is a large screen smart TV with cable. The kitchen is open to the other living areas, and a deck is just off the dining room. Above the living area is a sleeping loft with 2 twin beds. Off the living area is a queen bedroom, with a bathroom that is also shared by the living spaces.brDown the hall is another queen bedroom, which shares a Jack and Jill bathroom with the large master bedroom with a king bed.brOff the hallway and past the laundry room is a small family room with another TV. from there you can access another full bath and two more queen bedrooms. The family room has a fold down Eurostyle sleeper.There is a separate entrance to the family room area as well, and a peekaboo view of the ocean.brOur private beach access is just down a path then a sandy hill. Public beach access is about 1/2 mile away. Sometimes there is no creek directly in front of our access, and sometimes there is, based on winter storms. The creek is usually shallow in the summer, and a great place for kids to play farther away from the bigger surf.brIt's a very quiet area, with lovely views. You will need a car, and there is plenty of parking available.brMinimum rental age is 25 years old.brIt's a short drive to Old Town's shops and restaurants, and about 4 miles south to Bandon Crossings' great golf or 20 minutes north to Bandon Dunes Golf Resort.brBandon, Oregon is a wonderful coastal retreat, with quaint shops and restaurants, a crabbing and fishing dock, and charter fishing. It has miles of lovely beaches, tide pools, wildlife, and pounding surf. There's lots to do: horseback riding on the beach, flying kites, kayaking through the Bandon Marsh, fishing for salmon in Coquille River, exploring the Sand Dune National Recreation Area (about a half hour drive), or serving as a base for day trips, such as south to the Redwoods National Park in northern California.brGOLF:brSome land is meant for Golf. Bandon, Oregon is one of those places.
