Because the cabin is located in a dead-end road, there will be no movement of vehicles, which makes it even quieter.brThis cabin has two rooms, a living room with a fireplace, and a kitchen. All of them facing the river. brbrThe cabin has a beautiful porch where you can relax with the sounds of the river, or you can sit by the wood firepit and enjoy some marshmallow.brbrFor those who like a more active vacation, there is canoeing, kayaking, whitewater rafting, boating, horseback riding, hiking trails, mountain biking trails, and ATV trails, all within a few minutes drive. brbrFor the trout fisherman, the Nottley River has a special interest. It is not stocked, but supports quite a population of wild rainbow trout, which is unique to our area. The spawn is in April. Access to the river is limited and there is little to no pressure of over fishing. Significant hatches of small grey caddis (sizes 16-18) occur in March to April and caddis (all day) and baetis mayflies (sundown) hatch all summer. So you can start your day just jumping into the river and catching the best fish of your life.brbrFor those who like the wild life, you could have the lucky opportunity to see some of the native species. Because of the stable climate in the Murphy, NC area, wildlife is abundant along the banks of the Nottley River. Beaver and otter are seen in addition to raccoon, opossum, groundhog, turkey, and deer. A gorgeous selection of birds can be seen throughout the year. River Haven is a two bedroom, two bath cabin located directly on the Nottely River in Murphy North Carolina. From the screened in porch you look out over the clear flowing river. The riverside patio is a great place to enjoy the firepit when not fishing, tubing, kayaking, hiking, or exploring Murphy and the amazing river walk. Nottely River Winery is only about 6 miles away, and it's beautiful. And lets not forget the Harrah's Cherokee Valley River Casino just 12 miles away. brbrSo you can relax at the cabin and do nothing at all, or do as much as you can if relaxing is not the only thing on the agenda. The Ranger Community Center has a kayak/canoe launch so from there a really nice float down to our place. When the water is low, about a 1.5 hour float, to as fast as 30 minutes if the water is flowing strong. brbrFishing from our bank is fun, and wade fishing even more so. We are at the end of the road so very peaceful and quiet. It seems like you are a million miles away from anything, yet downtown Murphy is nearby along with great restaurants and shopping.brbrDisclaimer, VRBO shows in the map area that we are a one minute walk to a lake, we are not.
