There is plenty of room for even a full house to spread out! The lodge is conveniently and centrally located, less than five (5) miles to downtown Blowing Rock and about seven (7) miles to Boone. The village of Valle Crucis, with its riverfront park and the original Mast General Store, is fifteen (1)5 miles away. Banner Elk is less than twenty-five (25) miles away.brbrSnow skiing, snowboarding, ice skating, sledding, and snow tubing are nearby! Appalachian Ski Mountain is only six (6) miles away, while Sugar Mountain Ski Resort is twenty-two (22) miles away, and Beech Mountain Ski Resort is thirty (30) miles away. Hawksnest Snowtubing and Ziplines resort is twenty-one (21) miles away. Sky Valley zipline tours are about eight (8) miles from the lodge. brbrGrandfather Mountain and the entrance to the famed Profile hiking trail are only twenty (20) miles away. Bass Lake and Trout Lake are six (6) and eight (8) miles away, respectively. The Watauga River and the New River are both close by. The Blue Ridge Parkway is only a mile and a half away, where guests can enjoy jogging, walking, hiking, and cycling on quiet mountain roads as well as the nearby famed Mountains-to-Sea trail! brbrWalk into the main level of Mountain Laurel Lodge to find a stunning open concept floorplan with vaulted ceilings, exposed beams, hardwood floors, and a wall of glass revealing layered, long-range mountain views! The great room has a gorgeous leather sectional sofa and an ottoman positioned to enjoy the floor-to-ceiling, stacked-stone, gas log fireplace flanked by mountain views, as well as a large HD Smart TV. Adjacent to the great room is the banquet-style dining table which comfortably seats ten guests. The kitchen features granite counters, custom cabinetry, stainless appliances, and a gas cooktop. This kitchen is equipped to prepare and serve meals to a full house. There is a powder room/half bathroom that serves the great room, dining, and kitchen. The laundry room with a washer and dryer and the attached two-car garage are right off the kitchen. Large glass doors flank the gas log fireplace and lead out to the rear deck. The center portion of the deck is covered while the sides are open. It features a stainless gas grill and an outdoor dining table, along with comfortable Adirondack chairs. The deck is accessible from both main-level king bedroom suites. brbrThese two king suites are on opposite wings of the house, both on the main level and both with HDTVs, king-size beds, full ensuite bathrooms, vaulted ceilings with tongue-and-groove paneling and exposed beams, hardwood floors, and direct access to the rear deck. Also on the lower level is a large bedroom suite with a king-size bed, glass doors to the lower rear deck, a walk-in closet, and a full Jack-and-Jill bathroom with private and hallway access. Alamo River House is close to the Foscoe Fishing Company (about 1 tenth of a mile mile from our home), Hidden Valley Antique Mall, Front Porch Antique Market, Grandfather Mountain (20 minutes), Grandfather Vineyard and Winery (5 minutes), (6 minutes), High Mountain Expeditions, Peanuts & Golf, Hawksnest Tubing and Ziplining (13 minutes), Sugar Mountain Ski Resort (12 minutes), Grandfather Stables (horseback riding, 2 minutes) and so much more! All of these attractions and more are just a short drive away! Tweetsie Railroad is just under a 30 minute drive. The Mast General Store is about 10 minute drive (6 miles) and ASU and Boone is about a 10 minute drive back into town. is just a 7 minute drive away (4.5 miles). The Tanawha Hiking Trail (5 minutes away or 1.7 miles away), stretching 13.5 miles from Julian Price Park to Beacon Heights, parallels the Blue Ridge Parkway on Grandfather Mountain. Originally built as one of the first summer homes in the Crystal Mountain community, this home has been updated and redecorated top to bottom as of 2018 and is ready for you and your loved ones to enjoy. brbrThe home features level paved partially covered parking and just one step to enter. The first thing you notice upon entry is the exposed beams and vaulted ceiling drawing your eye upward. The kitchen is on your right upon entry and has black appliances and a large bar for food prep space as well as secondary seating. There is a round dining table to the left in a little nook, perfect for 5 to sit and enjoy a meal together. A selection of couches and chairs are arranged around a woodburning fireplace with a large TV mounted above it, and there are sliding glass doors leading to the deck. brbrDown the hall from the great room is a hall bath with a glass block shower, with two bedrooms at the end of the hall. Each bedroom has a Queen bed. The room on the right has a washer & dryer tucked into the closet, and the room on the left has doors leading out to the deck. brbrThere is a separate living area & bedroom suite on the lower level of the house, accessed either from the outside set of stairs or a partially covered set of stairs leading from the hallway. This second living area has a kitchenette, table, living space with a loveseat, full bath with tub/shower, and a bedroom with a Full-sized bed and a door to a quiet deck with rockers. brbrOutside the house, a gravel path connects the cottage to the lot next door where a firepit awaits in front of a large natural boulder outcropping. We can comfortably sleep up to 8 guests with all paved easy access and located within walking distance to Howard's Knob County Park. This park is a small park that overlooks the town of Boone and ASU. Stroll down short walking paths, dispersed picnic table, and a picnic shelter. There are also portable restrooms at the park. The park is open May 1st – October 20th, 8:30 AM – 7:30 PM daily. The mountain has an elevation of 4,396 feet above sea level and rises nearly 1,000 feet above the town of Boone and the campus of Appalachian State University.brbr***Our home IS pet friendly, but there is a maximum of 2 dogs weighing less than 40 pounds, each. The pet fee is $125 per pet plus tax and must have management approval. There is a fenced in yard to let your dog out to use the bathroom. Just off the living room is the awesome fully enclosed screened in porch to enjoy those summer days. This is a great way to relax and unwind while breathing in the fresh mountain air. As you exit the screened in porch, you can walk out to the deck and enjoy the gas firepit with seating all around. brbrThe kitchen has granite counter tops, regular coffee maker, Keurig maker, and basic appliances, including a large built in under counter ice maker and wine fridge. The laundry area with a full size washer and dryer is just off the kitchen. brbrThe dining area can seat up to 8 guests. Imagine enjoying your meal and looking at the incredible views. Just off the dining area is the sunroom for additional dining space. The windows in the sunroom can slide open with screens to let in the fresh mountain breeze. You have access to the deck from this room as well.
