With a long history of Adirondack hospitality, Wilmington is the perfect place for a quiet retreat to the mountains. The busy streets of Lake Placid are a 15 minute drive away. Wilmington is home to Whiteface ski area, the newly re-constructed Whiteface Memorial highway, the original and iconic Santa's Workshop, some of the best fly fishing in the country, an extensive network of world-class hiking and mountain biking trails, and some of the finest rock and ice climbing routes anywhere in the Adirondacks. A great selection of craft beers can be found at North Pole CG, Shopping opportunities include custom built bikes, chainsaws, homemade chocolate, or the biggest sub sandwich you've ever seen for 6$ from the Little Supermarket. Our town senior shuttle bus is routinely used throughout the summer as a mountain bike shuttle, and there isn't a single stop light anywhere in town. Welcome to Wilmington. It features canoes and kayaks, hot tub, barrel sauna, 2 miles of hiking trails, and perhaps the most beautiful back yard views in the Adirondacks, featuring Whiteface Mountain and gorgeous riverside views. brbr brbrThe lodge provides a full kitchen and dining area, along with a full Living room with brick fireplace and lots of couch room, all framed with bookcases providing endless reading material, geared towards Nature, travel, fiction and philosophy. brbr brbrWildlife includes bears, fox, coywolves, deer, eagles and the occasional moose. Firewood is provided for the large campfire, which accommodates about ten people. Listen to the evening concert of birds and crickets, while staring at the stars and planets overhead. A writer and the owner of the Adirondack Wildlife Refuge, he's often traveling to do wildlife photography at National Parks and Wildlife Refuges from Alaska all the way down through Alberta and British Columbia, to the parks of the American Southwest, but he's never further than a phone call away if questions about the Lodge come up. Come enjoy one of the most beautiful sites in the Adirondack Mountains. brbr brbrThe Welcome Center features a ping pong table, as well as a combination chess-checkers-backgammon table. The Welcome Center is a great place to learn about nature, and you may purchase sweat shirts, tee shirts, books, photographs etc. There is an active Bald Eagles nest directly across the river from where the canoes and kayaks are racked, and the nest has produced a surviving eaglet each of the last three years, so bring cameras and binoculars. Nesting season begins in late January to early February, with eaglets hatching around April 1st. brbr brbrWhile the Wildlife Refuge has public hikers during open hours between 10 am and 4 pm, the Refuge is all yours after 4 pm closing. Sit around the campfire or walk down to the West Branch of the Ausable River, and use our hot tub, outside wood sauna, and then the strong in spirit can go jump in the lake! Fish, swim and use our canoes and kayaks along the Ausable, which in this area is also called Lake Everest. Lucky hikers and kayakers have spotted moose, bear, coywolf, fox, fisher and eagles, as well as songbirds and any bird of prey you'll find in the Adirondacks, from owls to hawks to falcons and osprey, in the sloughs, or along the two miles of family friendly hiking trails in the 50 acre Adirondack Wildlife Refuge.

Beaver Creek is ringed by tall trees & mountains, & features a rustic porch for relaxing, while sipping your morning coffee, or watching the sun set, as well as a hot tub and a campfire in front of two huge glacial boulders. A fully equipped kitchen & a washer-dryer, complimentary high speed, wireless internet access & an HDTV flat screen, with satellite TV, exercise bench and recumbent bike; foosball, air hockey and 45 TV in the finished basement, making Beaver Creek Lodge your home-away-from-home in the Adirondacks. brbrThe master bedroom has a queen-sized bed and two more can sleep in the trundle bed, while two guest rooms have a queen, & two singles respectively. There is a full pull-out sofa in the den/living room, and a futon in the finished basement. The wood stove is backed up by a conventional furnace, and there's a room downstairs for stowing away skis & hiking gear.brbrNo other houses are visible from the property, so the desire to get away from it all is enhanced & fulfilled. brbrRunners, cyclists, cross-country skiers and hikers will run out of time, long before they run out of stunning mountain vistas to enrich their exercise, which is a major reason Ironman is held here every July. When your busy vacation day fades to dusk, there are several fine restaurants within a few miles of Beaver Creek Lodge, and if you want to make a full night of it, the Olympic Village of Lake Placid beckons, twelve miles away through one of the most beautiful drives in America, through the Wilmington notch along the West Branch of the Ausable River. Mountain Biking is big in the area. The Hardy Road Trailhead is about a mile from the house.brbrDon't forget your camera, as wildlife sightings include bobcat, red fox, fisher, the harmless Adirondack black bear and moose. If you don't see any of them, Guests may visit the nearby Adirondack Wildlife Refuge, where friends and family can meet and learn all about wolves, coywolves, coyotes, fox, bobcats, and see educational demonstrations with non- releasable birds of prey, like Bald Eagles, Great Horned Owls, Barred Owls, Screech Owls, Peregrine Falcons, Red-Tailed Hawks, and a crazy raven named Abie the Fishman, who was rehabilitated, but hangs around to entertain visitors.brbrThis is a relaxing Lodge, where you will put your busy careers on hold, spend quality time with friends and family, and renew yourselves, surrounded by the incomparable beauty of the Adirondack Mountains.
