Stay at Midships for a one of a kind oceanside view!

Southwest Harbor, Maine, United States

Hot Tub!!brCome and enjoy the gorgeous accommodations and spectacular, unparalleled views of Southwest Harbor at 'Midships' at Windward Shores. Windward Shores is an exclusive 3 unit condominium enviably situated at the head of the harbor on the shores of Southwest Harbor. Don't shy away because of the word 'condo', this is no cookie-cutter condo! Windward Shores is not part of a larger complex. It is just one custom built waterfront property in a quiet residential neighborhood, with a homey, cottage feel. 'Midships' is the largest of the 3 condos boasting 3 levels, floor to ceiling windows, private patio, deck, sloping lawns, and private dock. brbrFrom the gleaming hardwood floors and spiral wooden staircase to the granite counter tops and tiled doubled-headed master shower, it's the attention to detail that make 'Midships' a cut above the rest. brbrWith truly breathtaking views from any of the three levels at 'Midships' as well as from the deck and private master patio with hot tub, you're ever close the the ocean. Closer still, step out to the sloping lawn, where you'll find seating and a Chiminea (outdoor fireplace or 'fire pot') just above the shoreline and access to Windward Shores own private dock, all right in front of you!brbrAttention to Detail: As you walk into 'Midships' main level, you are consumed by panoramic views of the harbor. The open floor plan of this level allows you to soak in the views whether you're cooking in the kitchen, relaxing in the sitting area and watching cable on the flat screen HDTV or dining at the table with family and friends. The fully appointed kitchen has gorgeous granite counter tops, stainless steel appliances, including a double oven, cook top stove, refrigerator with water/ice dispenser and a built in microwave. Take the spiral staircase to the upper level and find a great spot for watching the activity of the harbor, enjoying cable on the flat screen HDTV, or curling up with a good book. This level also offers a bedroom with double bed.brIn the lower level you'll find the master bedroom with hot tub on private patio overlooking the harbor, tiled master bath with double-headed shower, a second bedroom with twin beds, and another bathroom with tub and shower. Plenty of room to spread out!brbrAway from the crowds but close to everything! Situated on the 'quiet side' of the island, you can enjoy the real Downeast Maine away from the crowds, but still be within minutes of world-famous Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor. You can explore all that the park has to offer by yourself, take a guided tour or take Mount Desert Island's bus, the 'Island Explorer', available to the public free of charge! Destinations include just about anywhere you want to go on the island. There are a number of outfitters located on Mount Desert Island that rent bicycles and kayaks, several with walking distance of 'Midships'. A stroll into Southwest Harbor or a short drive to Bar Harbor and you can enjoy a wide variety of activities from the most relaxed to the most rigorous, dining for all tastes and budgets, and shopping in many unique shops and galleries. Regardless of your interests, 'Midships' and the surrounding attractions are sure to make for a fulfilling vacation!brbrCome in the Fall-Beautiful Foliage, lower rates! : The months of September and October are a fabulous time to come to 'Midships'. The rates are lower, the crowds have left, the weather is comfortable and the foliage is spectacular!!! brbrHave school-age kids but still want to avoid the crowds, why not come to 'Midships' in June!brbrThis unit typically books week long rentals, Sunday to Sunday only but feel free to message with any questions!

The administrative Fees are the added amount the Agency charges to book this property through VRBO/Homeaway. Again, when booking through the VRBO/Homeaway platform, VRBO/Homeaway will generate the cost of your stay when you enter dates and number of occupants. The amount you pay to VRBO/Homeaway includes added VRBO/Homeaway and agency administrative fees which will NOT be reflected on your lease papers. All bookings require a separate Lease Agreement and Lease Packet to be completed and signed by both parties within an Agency determined time frame after booking through VRBO/Homeaway to bind the reservation. There will be added transaction fees to book outside the Agency and through VRBO/Homeaway to cover their requirements, commission fees and payment processing fees. This will reflect a rate higher than listed elsewhere and these taxable amounts will not be considered part of the Lease Agreement between you and the Lessor, but are instead separate taxable administrative and service fees paid to the agency and Vrbo/Homeaway and will not be reflected in the lease agreement. The rental rate that is noted in the body of the property description is the actual amount that will be reflected in the lease agreement; this amount is without added fees. Please let us know if you need further clarification. Please do NOT initiate a request to book until we let you know we are ready, as it will either be declined, allowed to expire, or edited as a pre approved quote to reflect an impossibly high rate so that you will have to decline the quote. VRBO/Homeaway will penalize hosts who decline a booking request when the calendar shows the dates as open and also penalizes hosts who allow booking requests to expire, therefore we may simply exercise the option to edit the quote to reflect an impossibly high rate so that you will have to decline the quote. Again, we will need the necessary time to discuss your reservation with the homeowner. Thank you so much in advance for your patience and understanding.brbrPlease Note: Rates are only quoted for the 2026 Season.

Large house on 3 acres in woods, 5-minute walk to ocean, 5-minute walk to town

Southwest Harbor, Maine, United States

Greetings Prospective Renters -brbrThis is our third year posting the Knollen on VRBO. Please see our profile of the Knollette on VRBO for ample reviews of the smaller home on this family land.brbrIn 1937 our great-grandfather built the Knollen on three acres of land . At that point in the island's history, innumerable island plots were available to him, including many oceanfront properties, but he chose this spot. The location is wonderful. brbrThe property includes a big grassy field, beautiful woods, and a much smaller cottage (the Knollette, also available for rent on VRBO). While the Knollen has not undergone any major renovations (including the kitchen and bathrooms), it's large (offering ample bedrooms), lovely, quiet, comfortable, and full of simple amenities. With extended family members living here for months at a time, we can attest to its high level of functionality, comfort, and charm. The living room can accommodate large family gatherings. Two particularly special spaces include a first-floor, screened-in porch with traditional wicker furniture and a large, second-floor sleeping porch - both of which offer close, peaceful connection to the surrounding woods.brbrThe Knollen is located on a quiet, private lane. Walk 5 minutes and you will discover the causeway at Norwood Cove - a spot that offers wonderful vistas of the ocean & mountains; dramatic tidal activity; opportunities for swimming, SUPing, canoeing, kayaking; peaceful sitting spots; and spectacular night skies. Walk 5 minutes in the other direction to the center of Southwest Harbor, a small quaint town where you will find shopping, dining, art, crafts, a bike rental store, and a wonderful public library. You'll also find access to the Island Explorer, the free shuttle to all parts of MDI and Acadia National Park.brbrAcadia National Park is a playground for walking, hiking, biking, swimming, boating, and picnicking. Explore scenic ocean trails, carriage roads, beaches, mountains, lakes, and nearby islands. There are also opportunities to rent boats of various sizes; play tennis, pickleball, or golf; antique hunt; visit museums and art galleries; eat ample fresh seafood; and more. brbrKeywords: large cabin, large wooden house, quiet private lane, near ocean, near town, Southwest Harbor, Causeway Lane, Norwood Cove, Acadia, Mount Desert Island

Tiny Home minutes from Acadia National Park

Southwest Harbor, Maine, United States

Experience living tiny in this lovingly built small scale space that includes everything you need for a cozy getaway. Return from a day of hiking in Acadia National Park to soak in the clawfoot tub or relax on the tiny deck, with a glimpse of the ocean.brbrThis 20ft x 8ft tiny home is situated in a backyard, a short walk from Manset Town Dock and Peter Trout Tavern, and a five-minute drive from Southwest Harbor and parts of Acadia National Park (about 20 min to longer hikes and the loop road).brbrThe spacebrThis 130sq.ft. house features a furnished kitchen/living room area with a two-burner gas stove for cooking. The sleeping loft with skylight is accessible via ladder. The luxurious (by tiny house scale) bathroom contains an antique clawfoot tub for soaking and on-demand hot water. Outside is a fire pit, and tiny deck. There is also a shared backyard and garden area.brbrOther things to notebrbrStaying in a tiny house is somewhere in between camping and a room in a bed and breakfast. There is regular plumbing, hot water, and a gas stove. But, since the space is tight, some things are out of the ordinary. For this reason, we ask that you THOROUGHLY read and understand the following details.brbr___ The bed is located in a loft, which is accessible ONLY by ladder. Please see pictures and be sure you are comfortable climbing up to the bed.brbr___ There is no bathroom sink. You can use the tub faucet or the kitchen sink in its place.brbr___ The tiny house is located in the backyard of our home. You will have your own space, and we will stay out of your way as much as possible, but we do live on the property and share the driveway.brbr___ We allow adult dogs with prior approval. Absolutely no puppies, sorry. That means dogs 0-12 months are not allowed. (We love them, but we’ve had too many bad experiences)brbr___ We have a friendly 4-year-old Plot Hound named Lou. She's a gentle sweetheart but may bark before she meets you. She’s usually great with other dogs and would love to meet and play with yours.brbr___ During the spring (before mid-June) and fall (after mid-September) the tiny house can be chilly in the night and early morning. We have plenty of extra blankets and a space heater. An electric heater is located in the bathroom.
