Southtoe River Ranch has miles of walking trails and close to a mile of river access on the South Toe River where you can fish, picnic, explore, swim, tube/canoe and float the river. The property once had a working mica mine on the property that now has been turned into an awesome picnic area which also has a deep swimming hole that has been used by past generations over the last 100 years. What’s unique to this property is that you have both long-distance mountain views and river views on the same property. There are many walking trails from the lodge down to the river to explore. Walking down to the overlook platform from the lodge to relax and drink your coffee and listen to the river is an awesome experience. This is a very private secluded property to which there are many places to sit and relax and just enjoy the peace and quiet of the North Carolina Mountains.brbrThe LocationbrThe Southtoe River Ranch is incredibly easy to get to and conveniently located between two very scenic mountain communities of Burnsville NC and Spruce Pine NC. You can reach either historic town in about 10 minutes for grocery shopping or dinning out at some fantastic local restaurants and or visiting several breweries in which to choose from. Scenic golfing is only 20 minutes away in Spruce Pine which is rated 4 ½ stars by Golf Digest, and voted #1 semi-private course in the region by the readers of the Asheville Citizen Times. There are a lot of hiking trials with majestic waterfalls in the area like Roaring Fork waterfall which is one of the regions prettiest falls, and one of the easiest to hike. Another one of our favorite things to do is a trip to Linville Falls which is only about 25 minutes away. Pack a picnic when you go and after your hike from seeing the huge waterfalls we suggest you stop by Linville Falls Winery on your way back. The wine and atmosphere there at the vineyard is gorgeous. Make a day trip to Asheville. It’s only 45-55 minutes away and has some of the best restaurants, microbreweries, galleries and outdoor adventure activities like ziplining in the Southeast. Another must see if you have not been to Asheville is a visit to the incredible Biltmore Estate. A visit here is a must as its one of the most iconic estates to visit in the United States.

The main level of the home is accessible by two steps and has all the living space on one level. Outstanding fly-fishing for brook and rainbow. 2 bedrooms with master having a queen bed and second bedroom with a full and twin. A sleeper sofa provides extra accommodations for 2 more. The deck overlooks South toe River, includes a look out platform behind house that gives terrific views of mountains. The house has a large GAS fireplace to warm your toes on cool nights. the kitchen is fully equipped to take care of cooking needs for a week stay over. Washer and dryer in laundry room will keep you in fresh clothes throughout your vacation. We now have a new mini split A/C and heat! We are 2 miles off the Blue ridge Parkway. We have 2 water falls within mins of the house. We are 15 mins. from Crabtree Falls which is spectacular. We are 20 mins from Little Switzerland which has a wonderful café used book store and coffee shop. We have many many trails within 5 miles of the house and are listed in our three ring binder. 8 mins. up the road is Hemloch state park where you can rent inner tubes to tube down the South Toe River. South toe river provides lots of fishing spots. And of course Burnsville and Spruce Pine two small town communities with a lot of shopping are 30 mins away Of course if you need big town Asheville is within an hours drive and the big city life is at your finger tips.
