Sweet Caroline has a well stocked kitchen for large meals! You can entertain your entire family/group easily. The covered front porch is a great place for morning coffee, a cool afternoon drink at the end of a hot day, even a great spot on a rainy day with a good book. Additionally, cook up dinner/breakfast on the Blackstone Griddle located in garage-with its Air Fryer drawer (other is warming drawer). There's also a mini fridge in the garage for easy to reach cold drinks while enjoying the outdoors. Feel free to bring and store fishing poles, kayaks, etc. in the garage. No trailers/watercrafts stored in the community, sadly. If you bring your boat/watercraft/trailer, there is a storage facility just down from the Beau Coast entrance for a fee of $10.00 per day (fees paid to storage facility- I can put you in contact). Call ahead to reserve a spot, but there's usually lots of room. If you bring a golf cart, that's great or you can rent one- I have contact info. Across the street from the boat storage is the public boat launch. Another option, contact local marinas for weekly boat slip rentals. No boat, no problem- Many visitors express the convenience of staying in our Beau Coast community, because it has numerous activities/spaces to interest everyone. Grab your key fob to get in the buildings-Walk or drive to the luxurious pool, clubhouse, Traders, fish ponds, pickleball court. The beautiful post & beam Clubhouse has kitchen, seating areas, 2 TV's, books, Ping Pong table, Cornhole, etc. The beautiful pool also has cabaña style shaded areas & tables to get out of the sun. You can even work on your tan relaxing on the lounge chairs IN the water staying cool while enjoying your cold beverage or book (no glass, please) while being part of your group. The luxurious pool/Traders & neighborhood is a kid friendly place. There is a grill poolside to cook lunch or dinner. There's a kayak launch dock at the pond as well. Feel free to fish community ponds. You can get a fishing license at any marina, Walmart or tackle shop. Traders also has a glass enclosed office and seating/tables areas if you need to do a little work away from your group. Enjoy a cool drink or hot coffee by the beautiful fireplace, outdoor fire pit. There's a workout room/gym. Also, BC has a community Pickleball court (there should be rackets in our garage), community dock to fish, relax, Adirondack chairs also on the lawn for relaxing, take a cool drink up there to watch the sun set, bird watch, look for horses on the island across the way or simply enjoy a dip in the water. Day dock allows pick up by boat & launch your kayak at the dock. You can walk, drive or take your golf cart to downtown Beaufort. Feel free to book a voyage over to Carrot Island, Shackleford Banks, etc. Beaufort has great restaurants, museums, shops and the best views! Beaufort is a quaint town, rich in history and something to do all year long! We're on the coast, so there's lots of water-related activities!!brbrOur home is located in the area called Down East, which is part of the Outer Banks National Scenic Byway. The area was chosen due to the natural landscape and, specifically, the community-based culture of the thirteen communities that comprise Down East. brbrBeach area is within 1/2 mile offering opportunity to enjoy water sports. Located on the shore of Harkers Island is a nice stretch of beach enjoyed by many locals and visitors. It is very kid-friendly with a beautiful shoreline. Parking is limited, so get there early!! brbrKayak rentals are available 1/8 of a mile from our house at Down East Kayaks. Rates are very reasonable. They deliver and pick up the kayaks for you! www.downeastkayaks.com brbrCape Lookout National Seashore ferry is within 4 miles. The ferry will take you to Cape Lookout Lighthouse and surround beach areas. You let them know the time you want to return, and the ferry will be at the dock to pick you up! You can choose to go to the Lighthouse side of the park or Shackleford Banks island. brTake food, umbrellas, water and anything else you would like to have with you on the beach. Rest room facilities are available at the lighthouse but the visitors center only sells water and a limited amount of snacks.brbrShackleford Banks is home to 130 wild ponies and they are beautiful to observe from a distance. Remember - they are wild so follow the rules that are posted on the island.brbrCore Sound Waterfowl Museum & Heritage Center is located on Harkers Island, approximately 4 miles from our home. The museum contains an awesome collection of Down East history, duck hunting, and culture.brbrA little further away is Cedar Island Horse Stables. There you can rent horses to ride along the beach. It's a huge hit with the visitors. The drive is about 30-40 minutes from our home but well worth the trip. brbrYou can enjoy our deck with table/chairs facing the back yard. brSpace is provided if you bring along your boat!! brbrBeaufort, Morehead and Atlantic Beach are within a 30-minute drive. A few of the attractions are Fort Macon State Park, Fort Macon beach area, lots of shops and restaurants for you to choose from.brbrAvailable at our home is a book containing a thorough listing and description of these attractions as well as local restaurants !
