The Cottage is the newest lease on life for what was once an old bunkhouse behind our historic 1895 Victorian Farmhouse, on our working farm, Farmstead Hollow. Two beautiful miles outside of Hamilton MT, the drive into the Bitterroot Mountains to the cottage is one of stunning views and well maintained, easy to access asphalt roads. br We have completely gutted and remodeled the bunkhouse (including a brand new heated slab floor), reinventing it as a charming 850 sq/ft house. The Cottage has a full kitchen and bathroom, including washer and dryer, and is fully functional, comfortable, and ready for guests. brOn the ground floor is the master bedroom with a comfortable Queen bed. The mattress is a luxury Stearns and Foster, rated firm.br Upstairs in the loft are an additional three twin beds. The only access to the loft beds are by a ladder - no stairs.br The Cottage is tucked in behind our house, accessed by it's own driveway. There are no windows on the side of The Cottage that faces our house, while the sides that look out onto our peaceful pasturage are nearly entirely window - so the feeling is of seclusion and privacy. brA small privacy fenced yard completes the cozy retreat theme.br Our barnyard is home to a menagerie of farm animals. The Cottage is separated and well fenced off from the busy goings on of the livestock and their caretakers, but at certain times of the day, animal sounds might be heard from the patio and yard area and perhaps even from inside of the cottage.br We personally love the sounds of baaing sheep, clucking hens or grunting pigs, and hope that the occasional animal call that drifts over to the cottage yard brings a smile to our human guests. br The animals are locked up in the barns at night and kept safe and quiet until 7:00 am each morning. Breakfast time on the farm can be a flurry of joyful (demanding) animal hustle and bustle - including our rooster Rolly, who likes to start his days with a flurry of self-important crowing. It usually lasts a minute or two, then he's over it except for a rare crow here or there throughout the day. br Evening feeding times are a similar event, before everyone is closed in the barn for a quiet night.br We have one distant neighbor - the only part of his house that can be seen from The Cottage is an upstairs attic window. br br Flexible check-in and check-out times; if incoming or outgoing guest's schedules allow. Built with 2x6 framing and non-toxic spray foam insulation, the structure boasts R-30 in the walls and over R-50 in the ceiling. The structure was built with no-VOC’s both inside and out, which speaks to the underlying theme of healthy environments that pervade the Farm estate. The space offers forced heat for your comfort, complete with HEPA filtration for high quality interior air all season long. Water supplied to the space originates from a well 90’ below the ground. To ensure a clean, healthy drinking / bathing experience, all water is routed through an iron filtration system then finally through an ‘Alive Water’ system to reinvigorate & re-energize the water at all points of use. On the exterior, a large pergola is situated on the South side for your use, complete with picnic table, BBQ and adjoining firepit. To the north, a concrete patio is situated just off the garage, while overlooking our newly planted fruit trees and enclosed dog area. brbrThe Gate House is situated towards the back of the farm property. Occasionally farm staff will be witnessed coming and going throughout the work-day, but otherwise the location sees little vehicle activity. Pin Cherries and Oak Trees line the drive on the east side. As a guest of the farm, and from the comfort of the East & South facing locals, you may witness farm staff running pasture irrigation, tractors navigating pastures, chickens and cattle roaming, elk & deer grazing at dusk and so much more.
