You will see wildlife all around the lake.brbrGetting aroundbrYou will need a car to get into Frankfort but you could bike there too (about 5 miles) so bring your bikes! There's a beautiful rails to trails bike path (Betsie Valley Trail) that you can get on several places on the way to town. This trail also goes to Crystal Lake too. Most of the trail is paved so rollerblading is nice too. Once you get to the cottage, I have a book of brochures, menu's, and ideas of some fun things to do. You won't get bored!brbrOther things to notebrWater and trails are everywhere if you are outdoor lovers. You'll see some of the best sunsets of your life at Lake Michigan!! The exterior of the house was repainted in 2025 with a dark blue and coral combination that is very colorful and distinctive. The house has been extensively remodeled within the last 10 years. It has a bright, beautiful, and modern design that features a considerable amount of lightly-colored woodwork, a large number of windows that provide exceptional natural lighting and a relaxing, beachy, 'lake-effect' feel to the home, and the home is filled with beautiful original artwork that has been created by the property owner herself.brbrThe cottage has 4 bedrooms, 3 full bathrooms, and is approx. 1750 square feet in size. It can sleep up to 12 adults. In terms of bedrooms and bathrooms, one of the 4 bedrooms is located on the first floor. It has a lovely queen-size bed in it and it has its own private ensuite bath. A thick curtain in the entryway to the bedroom can be closed for privacy to shut off the bedroom from the rest of the house. There are three bedrooms upstairs, including a kids room that has 2 very cute matching twin beds in it. The other two upstairs bedrooms each have a comfortable queen-size bed in them. (One of these two bedrooms also has a sofa bed in it, so that 4 adults can sleep in the bedroom.) Note that all 4 bedrooms have their own private live-streaming television in them.brbrThere are 2 full bathrooms downstairs (each downstairs bathroom has a shower) and a full bathroom upstairs that features a large and relaxing jetted tub. The common downstairs bathroom also includes a washer and dryer in it. The water in Frankfort is quite hard, so the home does have a water softener to soften the water.brbrThe kitchen has been recently updated and includes a new stainless steel refrigerator, dishwasher, and microwave. The kitchen also has a gas range (with 4 gas burners and an oven), which works great for cooking delicious meals! The home also has a coffee pot, crockpot cooker, blender, toaster, and a good supply of pots and pans, dishes, silverware, and cutlery. brbrThere is also a gas grill in the backyard for grilling and an outdoor dining area in the backyard with outdoor dining furniture. The backyard is also fully fenced-in (which is great for kids and dogs) and there is a fun and family-friendly bonfire ring with Adirondack chairs in the backyard for cooking delicious s'mores at night!brbrThe cottage also includes free super high-speed Wi-Fi, with speed up to 1000 Mbps. The home has 5 televisions with a very large 55-inch flatscreen television in the living room and 43-inch flatscreen televisions in each of the 4 bedrooms. All of the televisions have Roku with live-streaming from Hulu (which provides the equivalent of cable television), PureFlix, Angel, Netflix, and Disney+. A good collection of board games is also provided at the home (in the living room) for lots of family fun!brbrThe house does not have air conditioning, but it does have numerous ceiling fans and pedestal fans. Given these fans, the weather in northern Michigan, and the cottage's proximity to ever-cool Lake Michigan, air conditioning really is generally not needed to keep the cottage cool and comfortable. Forced air natural gas heating is provided for keeping the house warm and cozy in the winter. Water for the home is provided by Frankfort's public water system and a new water softener is in place to soften Frankfort's fairly hard public water. Sewage is handled by Frankfort public sewage system.brbrIn terms of wheelchair-accessibility, the cottage unfortunately is not very wheelchair-accessible and we would not recommend it for individuals in wheelchairs. For individuals in wheelchairs or other special needs, we recommend one of our other cottages in Frankfort, The Leelanau Cottage, which is quite wheelchair-accessible.brbrParking for up to 3 cars is available in the driveway. Includes use of 2 bikes, 2 kayaks, and 2 paddleboards! This property truly provides all that is needed for a wonderful family vacation! brbrbrNEIGHBORHOOD:brbrThe house is along the luxurious south shore of Crystal Lake, which boasts many luxurious homes of over $1M in value (including this one). The neighborhood is primarily made up of vacation homes of professional families.brbrOutside of the immediate neighborhood, the home is just a few miles from downtown Frankfort, which has a charming collection of shops, restaurants, cafes, and a microbrewery (Stormcloud). Frankfort also has a fantastic public beach on Lake Michigan and a popular historic lighthouse. Crystal Lake Paradise is also less than a 30-minute drive from both the start of Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore (to the north) as well as Crystal Mountain Ski Resort (to the southeast). The home is great for group or family ski trips to Crystal Mountain!brbrThe house is also only about a 1-hour drive east to Traverse City. Traverse City is the business, arts, recreation, entertainment, dining, and shopping hub of all of Northern Michigan and it provides a vast variety of bigger city things to see and do.brbrbrTHE SPACE:brbrPlease note that 2 bedrooms (Bedrooms #1 and #2) are on the first floor. The other 2 bedrooms (Bedrooms #3 and #4) are on the second floor. There are 2.5 bathrooms on the first floor and 1 bathroom on the second floor.brbrIn addition to the previously mentioned outdoor items, on the private beach there is a beach box with beach toys for kids, including two boogie boards, pails and shovels. Also in the beach box are 4 adult life vests and 2 children's vests as well as 2 foam noodles. On the beach are two stand up paddle boards and two kayaks. There is also a private swim raft that is in approximately 4 ft of water. There are also two bikes in the garage. (Helmets are not provided though.)brbrbrbrPLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING:brbr1) CHECK-IN: The guest who made the reservation must be present at check-in and must present photo ID at the time of check-in.brbr2) PET POLICY: Under NO circumstance can pets be allowed. The owners have severe allergy issues.brbr3) FIREPLACES: Neither of the fireplaces are usable. Use of the fireplaces is strictly prohibited!brbr4) MAIN ROAD: East South Shore Drive runs between the house and the lake so you do need to cross the road to get to the lake from the house.brbr5) STAIRCASE: The home has a somewhat rickety spiral staircase from the first floor to the second floor. It may be slightly hazardous for elderly persons and young children and guests are advised to use it with caution.brbr6) AIR CONDITIONING: Air conditioning is available in sleeping quarters via multiple mini-split room air conditioners.
