Beautiful Home Near Marquette Mountain and Minutes From Everything. Est. 2008.

Marquette, Michigan, United States

Cliffs Ridge is so-named because you can see its rooftop from what used to be Cliffs Ridge Run at the top of Chair #1 at Marquette Mountain, formerly Cliffs Ridge Ski Area. There is no apostrophe in 'Cliffs' because it was originally named after the Cliffs Dow Company. The exposed beams in the roof and Great Room are actually recycled from the old Tracy Mine in Ishpeming.brbrPart of the beauty of enjoying Cliffs Ridge is its personality and warmth —you can enjoy family and friends without the commercial feeling of a hotel. With the great kitchen space you can enjoy family dining without the expense of going out to eat for every meal.brbrFully furnished, it is a wonderful place to rejuvenate and spend time with the ones you love. Relax in front of the electronic fireplace after a great day of skiing, curl up and watch a movie in the comfortable seating in the living room, enjoy drinks on the back deck after a day at the beach, or read a book in one of the private bedrooms.brbrCliffs Ridge has four separate bedrooms. Superior: King-size bed, master bath, sitting area, access to private back deck, futon, 42 Roku TV and Spectrum cable; Big Bay: bunk-bed room with two singles; Northwoods Queen bed with 32 flat screen TV and DVD player; and Chalet: Queen bed with 32 flat screen TV and door to outside. Northwoods and Chalet have French doors with blinds and curtains separating them; these can be opened or closed depending on your preference.brbrThere is an additional bathroom on the floor with the living room, dining and kitchen area.brbrThe kitchen is fully stocked with everything necessary to feed a crowd including two crock pots, turkey roaster and many nice pots and pans. There is a propane grill on the upper deck year-around. The back deck has access to the fire pit and front walkway, and also has a second grill and bar area every season except Winter.brbrThis year-around vacation home is the perfect spot for family reunions, ski vacations, NMU parent activity weekends, wedding parties, hiking weekends, Brewfest, Pictured Rocks touring, golf vacations and more. Our hope is that your family can enjoy it the way we have for 37 years — and that it can become your Marquette home-away-from-home as well!brbrThe Marquette area has 35 miles of interconnected paved bike trails and miles of mountain biking trails as well—accessible directly from the house. The South Trail Head is right next to the Ski Hill as well. Cliffs Ridge is also two miles from Blueberry Ridge Cross-Country Ski Trails.brbrYou can reach the snowmobile trails directly from the house using Michigan State Highway 553 right-away—two miles to the south to County Road 480 or one mile north to the ski hill. There is also a Kwik Trip gas station and excellent bar/restaurant at that corner commonly referred to as the Crossroads. Once you get to the Crossroads you can pretty much get anywhere in the UP via the trail system.brbrbrbrKeywords: House, Ski Hill, Lake Superior, Northern Michigan University, Weddings, Skiing, Snowmobiling, XC Skiing, Hiking, Biking, Fat-Tire Biking, Fishing, Beaches, Community Events, UP 200, Midnight Run, Coast Guard Station, Little Presque Isle, Presque Isle, breakwalls, Brewfest, Foodfest, Seafood Fest, Northern Michigan University Football and Hockey, Marquette, Big Bay, Pictured Rocks, Golfing, Anatomy of a Murder, Thunder Bay Inn and all area sporting events.

Beautiful Beach House on Lake Superior 15 min to downtown Marquette

Marquette, Michigan, United States

Welcome to our lovely and very private Lake Superior paradise. Nestled deep in the north woods well back from the highway, enjoy a quiet and extremely private beach of classic Lake Superior sugar sand. This is one of the best beach locations available in the Marquette area, quiet and private, yet only minutes from downtown Marquette by car. The beach is wild and unspoiled. Gather driftwood for a beach bonfire; swim, snorkel, or kayak; or simply enjoy the sun and sand. At night, the view due north across Lake Superior yields a blaze of stars, plus the view across the bay to the lights of Marquette.brbrThe lake house offers a spacious 1,800 square feet all on one level. There is ample parking for multiple cars, trucks, trailers, and/or RV’s. It is set behind a sand dune just far enough from the Lake to provide shelter from large storms, yet close enough to afford breathtaking unobstructed lake views from the generous north-facing windows. There are three comfortable bedrooms, each with a queen bed and plenty of comforters for the chilliest of nights. Each bedroom has blackout blinds on the windows for late sleepers. The main bedroom has an ensuite half bath with a walk-in rain shower, water closet, sink, and attached walk-in closet. The two other bedrooms share a full bath with a soaking tub, water closet, and sink/vanity. Each bedroom has a full closet with plenty of shelves and hanging space.brbrThe great room is filled with light from both the north and the south. It has a well-equipped kitchen with full range and oven, microwave, plenty of pots, pans (including plenty of cast iron), and bakeware, double sink, dishwasher, air fryer/toaster oven, and multiple ways of making coffee: Keurig, French press, pour-over, and stove-top Bialetti “moka” espresso maker. Ample plates, bowls, flatware, glasses, cups, and stemware. Full size side-by-side refrigerator/freezer. There is also an outdoor 5-burner propane grill.brbrDining is at the spectacular 8 foot oak table that can easily seat 10, plus an island bar that can seat 3. The living portion of the great room is furnished with a couch that opens into a queen sleeper, four comfortable chairs, a powerful Bose sound bar connected to the Wi-Fi (stream any music from your phone), and a large television equipped with a Google Chromecast streaming device that allows you to stream anything from your phone via the Google Home app. The television is also a smart tv connected to the Wi-Fi. The entire house has strong Wi-Fi connection. Guests have access to a stacked washer and dryer on the main level. The home is centrally heated with hot water radiant heat, keeping it warm and cozy no matter how cold it is outside.brbrThe home is exactly 9 miles by car from West Washington Street, the heart of Marquette, and 10 miles from Northern Michigan University. Between Washington Street and NMU, you will find the bulk of Marquette’s restaurants, craft breweries, coffee shops, and other shopping. Marquette hosts multiple fairs and festivals in this area over the warm weather months, and there are some in winter, the most notable being the “UP 200” dog sled race that starts right on Washington Street before heading east to the Lake and then off into the wilderness.brbrThe lake home is a bicyclist’s paradise. It is directly across the highway from the Iron Ore Heritage Trail. This is a converted rail route that, in summer, is restricted to bicycle and non-motorized use. The trail provides a gentle 9-mile bicycle ride to West Washington and the heart of downtown Marquette, fully separated from auto traffic. At that point, riders can continue along the lakeshore to Presque Isle, or turn west and ride all the way to Ishpeming. In addition, there are multiple points to access the legendary Noquemanon Trail Network, including the Dead River Basin area trails, the legendary South Trails system, and the challenging climb up Mt. Marquette. The route from the lake house to and around Presque Isle and back follows the shore of Lake Superior in both directions. It is possibly the most beautiful 25-mile bicycle ride on earth. brbrThe beach offers the quintessential Lake Superior beach experience. Lovely white sand. Private and secluded, you might spend an entire day on the beach without seeing another person. There is usually ample driftwood to collect for a beach bonfire. At night, look to the west for the glow of the city lights of Marquette (and the fireworks on July 4th), or look north for a lovely view of the northern night sky.brbrA word about the Northern Lights. Northern Lights is a phenomenon that occurs in the high upper atmosphere near the North Pole. It is caused by solar activity. The Northern Lights can occur any time of the year. They are not seasonal. The beach provides an unobstructed north view. If there is solar activity and a cloudless night sky, you will see this breathtaking display easily and clearly.
