Beautiful cabin tucked in the woods off of a private lane. The space is well appointed with a lot of character and charm. The home is conveniently located close to the town of Crozet as well as Charlottesville and Ivy. The wineries and breweries of Nelson County aren’t far either and Ragged Branch Distillery is right down the road! We can accommodate two adults and a child (possibly two). The space isn't large enough for 3 adults as there is only one bedroom and an air mattress. Guests are able to use the entire home. Please be mindful of neighbors for noise & drive slowly. There are friendly dogs in the neighborhood that traverse through the property periodically & lots of places to walk/hike. The labs are ours & all are friendly! We have horses, goats, lambs & chickens (including a rooster) next door. Pets are welcome. There is a $50 pet fee for one pet and $25 for any additional. There are several food and grocery delivery services that deliver to the property as well. Guests are able to walk/run the roads in the neighborhood. Please do not trespass on other people’s properties. We live next door so if there is anything you need, don’t hesitate to ask. The home is close to the bustling town of Crozet with a lot of great dining options. It also is close to Charlottesville & Duners in Ivy if looking for fine dining. There is a brewery and a few vineyards within a few miles. The majority of the vineyards and breweries are in Nelson and if you’re interested in tours, let us know and we can connect you with different hop on buses. You will need a car or utilize Uber/Lyft to get around. The roads are winding and dangerous for bike riders. There is a lot of wildlife from deer to turkeys...bears to coyotes. Please do not leave trash unsecured & please be mindful of the wildlife.

Auburn Hill MADISON cottage Circa 1802 offer a peaceful private setting on a historic horse farm once owned by Thomas Jefferson and part of the original Monticello estate, a UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE SITE. with close proximity to wineries (10 minutes), town (12 minutes), Monticello (next door neighbor), Rivanna River(borders the property) Carter mountain (8 minutes), Clifton Inn ( 2 minutes) and many other activities. The cottage dates back to 1805, the property was once part of Monticelo and owned by Thomas Jefferson. It has been completely updated and modernized, combining the best of both worlds. There is a private lake (catch and release fishing), along with a 14 foot dingy for those qualified to operate it! brbrA Jimmy Buffet Key West 20 x 40 heated salt water pool complex with a PRIVATE HIIGH END JACUZZI FOR EACH COTTAGE a large grill with side burner, two large bars, pavilion, indoor/outdoor showers, bathroom/changing room, multiple outdoor games, two fire pit, two double hammocks and mountain/pasture views with complete privacy to enjoy the area. Most times it will be only you at the pool area. It is a working farm so there will be help around the farm to keep it well groomed for visitors.brbrMagical setting for watching wildlife like the bald eagles soaring down the river, multiple deer grazing in the fields, geese and ducks floating on the lake, or Great Blue Heron trying to catch lunch. Once on the farm you do not see any close neighbors (cottage is near main house, but situated to maximize privacy), unless you count looking up at the distant hillside to Monticello(see photo). The whistle or light rumbling of the distant train across the river can be heard on occasion. You can walk down to the rivers edge and sit on a large bolder watching the occasion kayakers floating down the river(or bring your own). James Monroe's home is only 10 minutes away, along with 14 wineries and 15 beer or cider breweries within 10 miles of the farm.

Our couches are not for sleeping and so we ask that you only sleep on the beds provided.brWe also advise that all guests consider taking a travel insurance policy to protect against any unforeseen circumstances that could result in a need to cancel their stay. It helps to safeguard your trip by adding protection for delays, interruptions and cancellations. Travel insurance can be purchased when you pay for your booking through VRBO site. You can also find a different policy provider that suits your needs. Our Cancellation policy is firm. br QUESTIONS & ANSWERS:brQ: If I have a small group can I get a discount because we won't be using all 5 bedrooms brA: We do not reduce the rate for smaller groups. The house is prepared and vacated for your reservation and it makes no difference to the owners whether you use all five bedrooms or not.brQ: I know you say no events, but if I am having a very small wedding can I rent your home brA: We cannot host events of any nature. We would require an events license and we do not wish to have events at the home. We want it to be used as a residence only.brQ: We are coming to Charlottesville for a bachelorette weekend, can we rent your home brA: We are happy to rent our home to a group who are here to celebrate an upcoming wedding so long as the celebration portion is off site. We do not want any late night partying or loud music at the home. We host lots of ladies groups, but we do ask that you do not plan any events or festivities at the property that could disturb us or our neighbors.brQ: Can we have friends/family visit us during our stay brA: We have a strict policy of 10 guests maximum at all times. This means that if your group has 10 guests you may not invite additional people to the property, even if they are not staying the night. If you have less than 10, we are happy for you to have people up to the maximum amount to come and visit during your stay. Please communicate with us about any additional people who are not booked in as overnight house guests.
