In the summer the trout come from all over the 94,000 acre lake into the bay in front of the cabin. These wild trout are a strain of steelhead landlocked in the lake 80 years ago. They average 2-3 pounds and fish over 8 pounds are not uncommon. This is a favorite spot for fly fishermen. There are miles of canoe and kayaking trails throughout the marsh. Enjoy a morning cup of coffee and watch the fish jumping in the lake! brbrPROPERTY and DOCKbrThe dock will accommodate up to eight average sized boats and comes with a ladder if you happen to jump in. There are 2 peddle boats available for guest use. We have a supply of life jackets. The two acres of land surrounding the cabin are planted in rolling lawns, and natural plant species of the surrounding area. The gardens are beautiful in the spring when the lilac bushes and the flowering trees are in bloom. There are several large rock outcroppings to set off the gentle slope to the lake. We have horse shoes, tether ball, and a basketball hoop.brbrNEARBYbrRocky Point Resort is ½ mile down the road, accessible by car, a short walk, or a boat ride from our dock to theirs. They have a small store,where you can purchase a fishing license, an ice cream or fishing lures if you need some. They also have a restaurant with full bar, and boat rentals. Harriman Springs Resort is 1/2 mile away with a full bar and dining includes breakfast and lunch with some evenings for dinner, their schedule can change so please check.Lake of the Woods Resort is 8 miles north on Hwy 140, a short 10 minute drive. Lake of the Woods features a restaurant, boat rental, store and excellent swimming beaches. The Running Y Resort is 15 minutes south on Hwy 140 which features bar and restaurant, convenience store, and a wonderful 18 hole Golf course designed by Arnold Palmer, rated as one of the top 100 in the U.S. Crater Lake is a beautiful drive, just 45 minutes north. Lava Beds National Monument a hour to the south. There is a small store and gas station in Odessa. Take 140 towards Klamath Falls about 1 mile, it is on the left. Codes change with each guest.brbrYou can park on Iowa and walk across the street (only 4 steps). Or park on the corner on Hawthorne and come down the side walk. brbrOR - You can park in back and walk up the lawn to the front door. brbrI recommend parking in front and unloaded and then go up to Hawthorne and turn right at the first driveway. Park a bit back from the garage door as I keep housewares and furniture in that basement.brbrPlease do not leave the exterior doors open for an extended period of time as bugs can enter the home. Most of our doors have a storm &/or screen door and the interior windows in the bedrooms have screens so better to use those instead. brbrThis home was built in the 1930s - so while this home is clean, the bathtub does not have a new porcelain look. It is now a beige color and it has normal stains from years of use. It is clean & sanitary and we use Magic Erasers on it regularly. But please do not expect it to be pearly white. brbrPlease also note that we ask all guests to keep their areas of use free & clear of ice and snow. If there is not a snow shovel - let me know and I will bring one over. We also ask you to water during the spring/summer months especially long term guests as we do not get enough rain to keep the landscaping & lawns healthy.brbrInteraction with Guests:brYou have full access to the living area of this home. If you need more beds - I have homes on either side of this house that are also Airbnbs. The interior space of this home is not shared. I am only a few blocks away if you need anything. We offer Dark Roast coffee and two types of Tea (usually Earl Grey & a Mint Tea), plus sugar w/honey and individual creamer containers. There are also the basics - Sea Salt & Pepper grinders, Oil spray for cooking and Dishsoap + Lysol for clean ups. Iron, Ironing Board + Hair Dryer if you need them. Plus there are several fabulous cafes a few blocks away! There is a new cafe in the old Rockwood Building (historical site with obsidion in the walls) just down there street and the Waffel Hut is one of my favoritre places to eat. At the end of Biehn Street is a great taco place with $1.50 tacos - I eat there a lot as well. If you head down to Main Street - Leap of Taste has Internet and so does the Daily Bagel!
