THE CABINbrThis cabin is a hand-built, 3 bedroom, 1 bath, 1450 sq ft home located on Rocky Point Road directly across from Harriman Springs on Upper Klamath Lake. It is nestled on 1.3 acres in the small community of Rocky Point, Oregon and surrounded by towering old growth Douglas Firs. Visitors are welcomed by a large wrap-around redwood front porch with a wooden swing, 2 handmade juniper Adirondack chairs, an outdoor dining table, and gorgeous views. Inside the cabin, the great room is highlighted by a vaulted rustic wood beam ceiling, a beautiful lodgepole pine staircase, and a large brick fireplace with a wood stove to keep you warm on those cold winter nights. The interior is decorated with comfortable overstuffed leather couches and rustic cabin decor. br brThe master bedroom is downstairs and has French doors that open to the great room. The floors in the master are hand-cut pine and there is a large window that looks out the front of the house. There is also a wood stove in the master bedroom and a large, comfortable king sized bed. The bathroom is accessed through the master bedroom and consists of knotty pine paneling, a stone counter top, and a large updated tile shower. There is also an additional bedroom that is accessed through the master where there are two twins beds. At the top of the pine staircase is another large, tastefully decorated bedroom with a brand new queen sized memory foam mattress. The cabin will sleep 4 very comfortably. All linens and towels are provided.brbrThe fully stocked kitchen has been remodeled with hickory cabinets and new countertops. There is a double oven, electric range, full sized refrigerator, microwave, a Keurig coffee maker, and a regular coffee pot. There are also two outdoor charcoal grills available for use. Just bring your own food! br brOUTSIDEbrEnjoy dining or kicking back with your favorite beverage on either one of the decks in the front or back yard. There is a picnic table in the fenced backyard that sits on a cobblestone patio. Enjoy roasting marshmallows or cooking over an open fire in the outdoor rock firepit. On the north side of the cabin is a large open grassy area that is perfect for throwing the football or playing horseshoes. There is plenty of room to park your boat or ATV/snowmobile trailer in front of the cabin and you can store your bikes and kayaks in the garage. We own the empty lots on both sides of the cabin so there is plenty of privacy and room for outdoor activities.brbrTHE LAKEbrAt almost 30 miles long and up to eight miles wide and depths of up to 60 feet in some places, Upper Klamath Lake is the largest freshwater body west of the Rocky Mountains. One of our favorite things to do while at the cabin is fish and hang out on the lake. HISTORYbrPoint Comfort Lodge was built by a railroad and lumber tycoon from the mid west in 1912. At the turn of the century it was fashionable for wealthy families on the east coast to build large summer homes in the Adirondacks. Most of these vacation homes were log cabin or mission style architecture. When the Klamath Development Company was developing the lumber harvesting business in Klamath Falls they built Point Comfort to be their vacation home at the foot of the Cascade Mountains on the shore of upper Klamath Lake. Originally, four great lodges were built on Klamath Lake; they were Eagle Ridge, Odessa, Harriman Springs (built by E.H. Harriman) and Point Comfort. Point Comfort is the only one remaining today, making her the Grand Dame of the LakebrbrPoint Comfort was designed by a renowned craftsman style architect from Berkley California. The restoration of the Lodge took 7 years to complete from the hardwood floors, wood paneled walls to the windows and doors containing 805 panes of glass. Her restoration adhering to historical guidelines has earned her a place on the National Registry of Historical Places. brbrLODGE STYLEbrThe Lodge is furnished with a blend of contemporary furniture and valuable antiques from the Craftsman period. The three acres of land surrounding the Lodge are planted in rolling lawns, and natural plant species of the surrounding area. The gardens are beautiful in the spring when the lilac bushes and the flowering trees are in bloom. There are several large rock outcroppings to set off the gentle slope to the lake.brbrTHE LAKEbrKlamath Lake is home to 452 bird species and Eagles are often seen in the trees on the property.
