Uniontown Boat View House

Astoria, Oregon, United States

Summary:brbrThis is an older duplex, that we've furnished with homey touches to provide a comfortable base for exploring Astoria! We love drinking coffee and watching the passing barges and the goings-on of urban-industrial Uniontown Astoria from the big front window. Pets, friends and family are welcome here, although we ask that furry friends are kept OFF the beds and couches, as it is difficult to de-hair the furnishings! We're excited to share our love of the ruggedly beautiful Oregon coast with you!brbrbrbrThe Space:brbrOur home consists of two bedrooms, bathroom, living room, kitchen and laundry room. This is a downstairs apartment, and the upstairs apartment is also available for short term rent. Please note that our proximity to the 101 means that noise from cars can be heard inside the unit! Please also be aware that this older building has some quirks! we can not use hair dryers in the bathroom, and we request that the microwave not be turned on in conjunction with the stove range. We can accommodate up to 7 people, although space would be limited and to be the most comfortable, we recommend staying here only with 6 or less guests in total.brbrbrbrGuest Access:brbrThe kitchen, bedrooms, bathroom and laundry room are all yours. There is a backyard (shared with the upstairs unit) that your pet can use, but you'll need to monitor them while they're back there as it is unfenced. Also, pet owners MUST pick up after their pets using the yard.brbrbrbrThe Neighborhood:brbrOur place is located just off of the Oregon Coastal Highway 101 (W Marine Dr) as it runs through Astoria. The confluence of the Youngs and Colombia Rivers being remarkably close-by, it is often intensely windy and wet outside the front door. Please keep this in mind while packing and planning for your trip! You can access the historic piers by crossing the 101, which are within brief walking distance. While it is possible to reach downtown by foot (about half hours walk), we recommended going by car for errands, sightseeing etc. Our favorite grocery store (Astoria Co+op) is located on the far side of town, about 7 minutes drive from the house, on Marine Drive. Other shopping options including Walmart, Goodwill, TJ Maxx and Costco are located about 8 minutes away, on the other side of the Astoria-Warrenton Bridge.brbrbrbrGetting Around:brbrWith downtown Astoria being about 30 minutes on foot from our home, we recommend either driving to your dinner or shopping destination, or making an adventure of it by taking the riverwalk and stopping at the numerous riverfront breweries along the way. Quaint shops, eclectic restaurants, and shopping malls perched precariously over the river are all on display for the riverwalk adventurer.brbrbrbrOther Things to Note:brbrThere is no a/c .brbrThe Boat View house is on the main road, so please expect loud rush hour (4-7pm) and morning rush (7-9am) noise from cars.brbrbrbrInteraction with Guests:brbrWe're on call 24/7 throughout the length of your stay to help with anything you might think of.

Uniontown Boat View Loft

Astoria, Oregon, United States

Summary:brbrThe Uniontown Boat View Loft is an upstairs apartment in an old duplex building, situated directly beside the Oregon coastal highway 101, giving it close access to bars, coffee shops, restaurants, and the piers. The windows look over the 101, nearby businesses, the Astoria-Megler bridge, and the Columbia River, where barges pass regularly. Please keep in mind that this is an older, quirky home! Works best for travelers who want a comfy, not a modern, space.brbrbrbrThe Space:brbrThe space is comprised of a fully stocked kitchen, living room, bathroom, two king-sized bedrooms, and laundry room, which also contains an extra sleeper futon for larger groups (ideal for younger guests and kids). The back door leads to a small deck, with rear-stairwell leading out into a quiet, shared back yard space. Pets are welcome.brbrbrbrGuest Access:brbrTwo off-street parking spots are provided for your use. While it is possible to access downtown on foot, we recommend guests headed downtown to get there via car, as it is a longer (approx 30 min) walk. Many options for shops, restaurants, gas, and nearby services lie within 10 minutes driving distance.brbrbrbrThe Neighborhood:brbrWe love the close access to restaurants, bars and shops that this apartment offers. We also enjoy the proximity to the piers and the Columbia River.brbrbrbrGetting Around:brbrTwo off-street parking spots are available for guests. Please use caution when turning onto the highway 101, as it can get busy and cars go by quickly. All amenities (gas, shops, dining) are within 10 minutes drive from the apartment. Also, be aware that many businesses in Astoria close around 8pm, so make sure to plan ahead for dinner etc. when arriving late.brbrbrbrOther Things to Note:brbrThere is no a/c.brbrThe Boat View house is on the main road, so please expect loud rush hour (4-7pm) and morning rush (7-9am) noise from cars.brbrThe windows of the living room are older and do not provide the same clear visibility that they used to.brbrbrbrInteraction with Guests:brbrWe are available via text or Airbnb messages for any questions
