Nestled on an acre in the Snowbird Mountains sits the “Hooked on Snowbird” Cabin, a blend of rustic accommodations and modern conveniences. The one level cabin is accessible by a private road located off a one lane bridge. The property backs up to the Snowbird Creek, which Game & Fish calls it “Trout Fisherman Friendly”. Go for a “Smokies Slam” (catch a wild Brown Rainbow and a Brookie in a single day’s outing). brbrThe screened back porch overlooks the Snowbird Creek. It is the perfect place for an early morning cup of coffee in one of the two rockers or at the dining set. brbrThe cabin has an open floor plan with a vaulted ceiling that stretches from the living room to the kitchen, which gives you all the room you can ask for. The living room is cozy with a gas fireplace, couch, love seat, recliner, smart TV and a view of the water. brbrEnjoy watching and listening to Snowbird Creek from two of the bedrooms (the master and a guest), the family room and back porch. The master and guest bedrooms are on opposite sides of the cabin, everyone will have an added layer of privacy. brbrThe Master Bedroom is an ensuite and has a king size Purple RestorePremier™ Hybrid Mattress, walk-in closet and a smart tv. Both guest rooms have a queen size bed. The Blue Guest Room has a dresser and a closet. The Front Guest Bedroom has a small dresser, no closet. There is luggage racks provided in bedroom for your convenience.brbrBoth bathrooms have a tub/shower combo, hair dryer, shampoo, conditioner and individual bar bath soaps for your travel convenience. brbrYou will find everything needed in the kitchen with plenty of granite counterspace to allow easier meal preparation. There is a microwave, dish-washer, coffee maker, electric can opener, even a 6-quart programmable slow cooker, pots, pans, cookie sheets, grill supplies, etc. I added a few of my favorite spices for your gourmet creations.brbrThe laundry room has a washer, dryer, iron, ironing board and laundry detergent. br brWhether you are having a grilled lunch at the picnic table, or roasting marshmallows over the firepit under a beautiful night sky, or just sitting in the swing listening to the creek the cabin is sure to provide a respite and recharge. brbrExcellent Trout Fishing can be found on the Hatchery Supported or Delayed Harvest sections of the Snowbird, or take a drive to the Nantahala or Tellico Rivers, both of which are included in the Trout Unlimited list of the top 100 in the nation. You can bring your pet for an additional 40.00 fee. There is plenty if room to roam around the cabin and take a walk with your dog if you like. There is a firepit area down in the front of the cabin if you want to roast some hotdogs or make some smores, or just sip and chill. The deck has a grill and is a great place to enjoy your morning coffee as you plan your days activities. The interior is all beautiful tongue and groove pine with a cathedral ceiling , living area with gas log fireplace that operates off a remote adjoined by a dining area with a coffee/wine bar that opens into the full kitchen . Off that area is a bedroom with a new queen bed with a dresser and closet. There is also a full bath with a shower/tub combo. Up in the loft is another new queen bed with a dresser - just watch your head if you are tall...the center of the room is about 6 ft or so. Great area for the kids!brGuest accessbrYou have full access to the entire space. There is plenty of space for parking. The laundry is in the heated garage and the key to the door is hanging on the key rack in the cabin. The garage area is available for you to store your motorcycles/mountain bikes /ATVs/ kayaks etc for an additional 15.00 per stay...just let me know.brOther things to notebrWe are in a little development called Carolina Vistas . There are neighbors but the cabin is still relatively private. Please be kind and keep any noise and music to a minimum after the sun sets. With hundreds of blind curves, long blind crests, and high degrees of camber, this road presents plenty of opportunities to leave the pavement both laterally, and longitudinally, and will provide a challenge even for the most seasoned drivers/bikers.brbrThe Great Smoky Mountains and Cherokee National Forest border the Dragon, there is no development along the 11-mile stretch, this adds to safety as well as natural beauty. The Dragon stretch of US 129 is double-lined as no passing (there are pull offs you can use to allow tailgaters to get ahead of you.) There are also pull-off points along the route for scenic overlooks. The road is certainly breathtaking, but has a fearsome reputation, speed limit was posted at 30 mph in 2002 and still in effect today. Trucks are also prohibited to enter the road due to previous accidents and incidents involving trucks and semi-tractor.brbrThe best time to drive this road is between March and November. Winter months can be hard to predict. The weather on this zone is harsh and highly unpredictable and it does not take much time for the bright sun shine to change over to moderate to heavy snow fall. This road had a reputation for being extremely dangerous because of unpredictable snowstorms and blizzards, and driving under these conditions, can be challenging.
