Some folks are looking for hotel standard everything or an vacation rental just like they stayed at in some big city. Thats not us ... we are catering to those of you who want seclusion, your own piece of heaven and of course the BEST views in Blowing Rock. We are 5 secluded acres in the woods ... our reviews feature guests who enjoy that experience and the occasional guest who doesn't get it and worries they may run into bugs & spiders outside, gets worried about a drive on a mountain gravel road, or didn't get it when we said we are off the beat path. We are off the beaten path, come in enjoy the experience, know what we are about on the way in .... and thats why you booked us. We also do allow some pets under 50 pounds that you discuss with us prior to booking. We do not provide any food of any type, including coffee, especially during COVID. Thanks for looking at our cabin!brbrFrom the unmatched, far-reaching views along the Blue Ridge Parkway, to the quaint storybook mountain village, Blowing Rock, North Carolina is truly deserving of the title: Crown of the Blue Ridge. It's a venue for adventure, but also a place for ultimate relaxation. Indulge in a spa treatment, sample scrumptious vittles at our award-winning restaurants, or enjoy the hospitality at our local inns, bed and breakfasts, resorts, cabins or hotels.brbrOther things to note : brPlease read our house rules . You must agree to these rules within 48 hours of booking via an online electronic “I Agree” statement back to us that you agree that your stay is bound by these house rules. We do this in leu of a written contract, we are happy to provide a written copy upon request.brbrPETS: Are only welcome if we discuss them in advance of booking your trip for our approval. We only allow Dogs. We need to know their BREED, WEIGHT (we allow typically under 50 pounds of total pet weight, but ask us if larger), AGE (No puppies) and the PET COUNT (generally we allow 1, but if they are very small maybe two). We have a per PET FEE between $10/night and $35/night depending how big the pet is. We require agreement to use a PET CRATE if you ever leave them in the house. Pets are not allowed on or in beds or on furniture. We don't allow any pets when the cabin is at maximum human person count.brbrGuest count - When you book with us we will ask you your guest count, this is then used for COVID-19 awareness and cleaning planning. You can not change or add guests without notifying us for approval. We reserve the right to not approve an increasing guest count prior to the trip, and we reserve the right to stop your trip if your guest count increases without asking our permission first. We hope you understand, but we do not just turn our cabin over, we require communication prior to guests being added regardless of the cabin’s potential for more guests.brbrAfter 4 guests we reserve the right to add a second cleaner for an additional $100. We try to keep our prices low when the guest count is low, after the first four guests we charge $35 per night per guest extra on all stays.brbrThe Cabin is in the Mountains. The approach to the cabin means that you are comfortable driving a road in the woods, including driving up and down small gravel roads. Snow & ice are conditions you may find December 1 through March 31st we provide a shovel and a limited amount of rock salt at the cabin. Are you prepared for Snow and Ice for you, all guests, and your car is a question you must ask yourself when visiting us during the winter. We can’t forecast the weather, nor can we make it stop if it starts :-). Hence you need to be certain you can take care of yourselves and car (snowchains, or AWD, or 4x4 are the best options). In the event of a winter storm during your stay we will instruct you on where your vehicles will be placed for your safety, this may involve a short walk from that location to the cabin door . In general snow fall is light and usually melts the next day. Most of the gravel road is county maintained and thus cleared, however the last .5 miles up to the cabins is in a private neighborhood where snow removal is a group, best can do, best effort basis. That said we drive our Jeep 4x4 through all snow in and out of the same roads all the time, and we are used to snow. The winter months are wonderful months in Blowing Rock, great for a fire, some out door hiking, tubing, skiing and hot tubing, pls be vigilante on the weather as its usually in a forecast, and you can put yourselves and your cars in the right places for total success.brbrWe are providing you a License to use our Cabin similar to that of renting a car, as a licensee you are bound to the cabin rules at all times, and you forgo the rights of a lease or tenant. Violations of our cabin rules can result in your immediate removal from our cabin, by renting our cabin you agree to these terms. If you'd like a full copy of the license please let us know in advance and one will be provided to you.brbrWIFI - Its Satellite based. That means it has a delay and is not ideal for 2 way communication such ZOOM. Second it means that during a storm the weather can cloud out the connection and your WiFi may degrade. Most guests have found it great, streaming is possible if the weather is good, and we’ve had guests work and play in our cabin with out issue, but we do point this out as there are no buried cables or fiber on our remote properties.brbrFireplace - Cabin is equipped with a gas fireplace, with an automatic timer panel to control the fireplace. We’re here for support on fireplace use as needed.

Lenoir, North Carolina, United States

Boasting breathtaking 100 mile views and a prime location for exploring the High Country, this property offers the perfect blend of location, serenity, and privacy. Nestled on 20 private acres just 2.5 miles from Main Street in Blowing Rock, you can take a leisurely walk down to the pond at the base of the mountain and spend the afternoon shopping and dining in the charming town.brbrThis newly remodeled studio includes a full bathroom with tile shower, queen bed, sleeper sofa and well equipped kitchenette.brbrYou’re only 2.5 miles from Main Street Blowing Rock. Formerly, this building was a Studio for a well known High Country artist and has been remodeled to include a full bathroom with tile shower and well equipped kitchenette. Sleep in a luxurious queen bed in the bedroom with 100 mile views or sit on the nook by the window overlooking Blackberry Gorge toward Charlotte. In the evenings, take your time enjoying the 700 square foot deck complete with swinging egg chairs, charming gas fire pit or lounge in one of many Adirondack chairs.brbrThe cabin features tongue and groove spruce ceilings and walls as well as a sleeper sofa in the living area. brbrWhether your exploring the seclusion of the property or taking a nap on the deck, you’re in for a treat. brbrAppalachian Ski Mountain is 5.5 miles, Tweetsie Railroad is only 6 miles away and ASU and Boone are 10 miles. Downtown Blowing Rock is just a 2.5 miles away.brbrYou’ll have access to the entire tiny cabin, huge deck and twenty acres to explore. Our property is meant to be a place of refuge and retreat from the normal day to day hustle. While you’re here make sure that you spend time around the fire pit, swing in the hanging egg chairs and make your way through the trails throughout the property. brbrYou’ll also have access to the two acre, spring fed private pond at the bottom of the mountain. It’s perfect for that late afternoon picnic or pond side lounge or leisurely fishing. Make your way up the stream to the top of the spring and find that the water comes right up out of the ground.brbrThe main deck between the large cabin and the tiny cabin is a shared space. The larger cabin may or may not be in use during your stay.brbrWe love hosting and are thrilled that you chose Kate’s Cabin to stay while you explore the High Country. We’re here to help in any way that we can to make your stay more enjoyable. We’ll be here to help through the messaging system or through text and phone.brbrThis cabin sits on 20 acres off of a private gravel road immediately off of 321 in Blowing Rock. We don’t have many neighbors, but the ones that we do are very friendly and you’ll likely see them driving by as they come and go throughout the day. Kate’s cabin sits at the very top of the only road in and out of the community, so please be sure that you do not block the road in any way that might impede our neighbors from getting by.brbrHighway 321 will be cleared appropriately in winter months. As for the road off of 321 to this cabin, it is paved but in the event of inclement weather - 4WD or AWD is suggested in winter months.brbrWhile the road to the house does melt quickly, it can be tricky with snow.brbrIf you’re headed further into the High Country, we’d encourage you to take a drive. The tiny cabin features tongue and groove spruce ceilings and walls as well as a sleeper sofa in the living area. brbrHands down, the best feature are the views, they are outstanding. Both cabins have 100 mile views from almost every room. In the evenings, take your time enjoying the 700 square foot deck complete with swinging egg chairs, charming gas fire pit or lounge in one of many Adirondack chairs.brbrWhile you’re enjoying some of that sweet solitude, you’ll take comfort in knowing that the kids are resting well or playing games in the kids loft complete with sleeping cubbies and more fun than you can fit in a basket. Oh, and we put a huge queen bed up there too…brbrSpend your days exploring the twenty plus acres. Strap your boots on for a hike down the mountain to the private pond or take a leisurely stroll down the gravel road. Whether you adventure down the mountain or stroll up top, you’ll find more fun than you can shake a stick at. brbrAppalachian Ski Mountain is 5½ miles, Tweetsie Railroad is only 6 miles away and ASU and Boone are 10 miles. Downtown Blowing Rock is just a 2.5 miles away. Banner Elk is just 25 minutes from the cabin and Grandfather Mountain is a quick jaunt on the Blue Ridge Parkway.brbrYou’ll have private access to the entire property (i.e. two cabins, master balcony, hot tub patio, 700sqft deck with swinging egg chairs, fire pit, Adirondack chairs and hammock).brbrOur property is meant to be a place of refuge and retreat from the normal day to day hustle. Make your way up the stream to the top of the spring and find that the water comes right up out of the ground.brbrI’m always available to help with any questions that may come up. Feel free to reach out through the messages inbox, phone or text at any time.brbrThis cabin sits on 20 acres off of a private gravel road immediately off of 321 in Blowing Rock. We don’t have many neighbors, but the ones that we do have are very friendly and you’ll likely see them driving by as they come and go throughout the day. The cabin sits at the very top of the only road that goes in and out of the community, so please be sure that you do not block the road in any way that might impede our neighbors from driving by.brbrYou’ll be less than a five minute drive to Main Street Blowing rock where you can stroll, dine and shop the picturesque town. Blowing Rock has been a central part of life in the High Country since the late 1800’s and many of the stone structures that were formed in the early 1900’s remain until today. In fact, the mason that built the fireplace in our larger cabin was the “go-to” stone mason of the day. Many of the stone structures that you’ll see throughout town were crafted by the same stone mason that built our larger cabin.brbrHighway 321 will be cleared appropriately in winter months. We highly recommend taking the longer route on the Blue Ridge Parkway to get from where you are to where you’re going. If you’re looking for another scenic route, be sure to take Shull’s Mill road if you’re headed toward Banner Elk or Valle Crucis.brbrWhile you stay, there will be plenty of room to park. Feel free to park on the concrete next to the garage or on the gravel.brbrThe main and lower levels of the larger cabin are not connected by interior stairs and both have separate entrances. The lower level can only be accessed by the lower deck.brbrThere is plenty to do in and around the property and we encourage you to take a stroll down the private gravel road past the cabin as well as the 4x4 paved road down the mountain. Please do not attempt to drive down the mountain on the asphalt path unless your vehicle is equipped with four wheel drive (we’re not responsible for any stuck or damaged vehicles that may come from driving down to the pond)). It is VERY steep…perhaps a hike might be a better fit

Charming meadow camp in the forest mountains near fish pond. Events are OK. Pet

Lenoir, North Carolina, United States

Tent 3 I call “ Bambi’s Playground”. When I first discovered it I approached it from the trail going from the ponds through the forest on the ridge of the mountain. That trail itself is very beautiful in its serenity and then this charming meadow opened up, and the famous animation came to my mind. Bright cheerful clearing in the woods would be a perfect place for Bambi to play.brThe stay at this location is magical. Walk from the pond to the campsite in the woods on mountain ridge. This remote location is pure and beautiful. There is plenty of room to have a small event. Or just be by yourself and enjoy .brThis Tent is very remote, so I do not mind if you have a party there or and event. This place is just for you, your friends and family to enjoy and have fun. Just be respectful and safe. The closest house from you is about a mile away. Phone connection is very spotty to non-existent.brThe Tent itself is a large luxury Tent that has four beds ( cots). brThe Tent sits on a deck on a hillside facing the meadow. brOff the deck there is a large picnic area with fire pit and picnic table. The Meadow itself is relatively flat for the mountain. And large enough to play games or have an event.brThe toilet and the shower cabin, are behind the Tent. The toilet is called “Poo-Pee” toilet, because of its eco-friendly design. The shower is an outdoor shower.brThe dirt road leading to the tent is newly rebuilt and it is accessible by a regular car. (Although low clearance fancy car might lose the bumper).brBesides the Tent itself you have 180 acres of land to roam around. Hiking trails, Fishing pond. Mountain views.brThe civilization in the form of the town of Lenoir is about 12 miles away. There you can find all regular brand shops, fast food restaurants etc.brThe town of Hickory offers more choices and also a very large lake with several marinas, where you can get a boat.brThere is a Tennis court in a community park about 10 minutes away by car.brAsheville is about 1.5 hr away to the West and Charlotte is about 1.5 hr away to the East.brThe nearest airport is Concord Regional Airport, 115 km from the accommodation.br
