Spectacular, luxury log cabin with fabulous view of Grandfather Mountain and the John's River Gorge. This house is constructed with 10 inch round logs from Montana for that western lodge look. It boasts a huge great room with 25' vaulted ceiling, beautiful stacked stone fireplace, lots of windows, huge deck to enjoy the view, top of the line kitchen, hickory floors, and inviting mountain decor throughout. At 3000 feet, the air is nice and crisp, but air conditioning is available if you need it.brbrThis house has three bedrooms and three full baths. Two of the bedrooms have fabulous views and private baths. One of these bedrooms, on the main level, has a queen bed. The bedroom upstairs has a king bed and twin bed and has a beautiful bath. The second bedroom, on the main level, has two twin beds and hall bath. There is a queen sleeper/sofa located in the living room. There is a basement and additional bedroom upstairs but they are not available for rental. No pictures are shown of the areas unavailable and everything you see in pictures will be open for you. brbrThe dining room is spacious and opens onto a covered porch. The kitchen is very large and is fully equipped with double ovens, built-in microwave, downdraft gas range, garbage disposal, dishwasher, and refrigerator with ice-maker. There is a large breakfast bar in the kitchen so there is plenty of room for everyone to eat.brThe house is fully equipped with dinnerware, pots, pans, utensils, linens and has a washer/dryer.brWe are located on 4 acres backing up to the Pisgah National Forest, so hiking opportunities abound. No smoking is allowed in the home and sorry, no pets are allowed either. brbrDowntown Blowing Rock is less than four miles away. Our house is 1 mile down a well-maintained gravel road. Four wheel drive is seldom needed. The decks offer many opportunities to enjoy the view. The back of the great room is all glass and opens onto a huge deck where a gas grill is located, as well as much seating. brbrAll of the baths are tile with upgraded fixtures. Hickory floors are throughout most of the house. There is much exposed wood with extra large posts in the entry hall, stone foyer, large stone front porch, and tongue and groove ceilings.brbrBlowing Rock is a quaint village with an abundance of excellent restaurants, antique shops, and festivals in the park. The Blue Ridge Parkway is only 3 1/2 miles away and offers scenic drives, great hikes, mountain biking, and horseback riding opportunities. Skiing is available within a couple of miles at Appalachian Ski Mountain and the town has tennis courts.brbrSeasonally, Tweetsie Railroad and Mystery Hill are open for children's' entertainment. Tweetsie is an amusement park with rides, a petting zoo, and old steam engine train. Grandfather Mountain is about 1/2 hour drive away and has the Mile High Swinging Bridge, and zoo. Appalachian State University is located about 12 miles away in Boone, N. C. Golf courses are available minutes away.brbrCome experience the peace and quiet offered in this great setting. The ancient apple trees on the house ground date back to the 1800's when the property used to be on an orchard that was on the original wagon trail from Lenoir to Blowing Rock. At the right time of year you can harvest your own apples, previous tenants have made pies for enjoyment and desert! Come enjoy the mountains with us ...brbrWe are not a hotel but true to the vacation rental experience, which is we want to share our special location with you. We strive to keep our cleaning fees low, and we are generally 1/2 our competition on cleaning fees, but we expect you'll help us keep up with everything as you go as well. Some folks are looking for hotel standard everything or a vacation rental just like they stayed at in some big city. Thats not us ... we are catering to those of you who want seclusion, your own piece of heaven and of course the BEST views in Blowing Rock. We try to keep our prices low when the guest count is low, after the first four guests we charge $35 per night per guest extra on all stays.brbrThe Cabin is in the Mountains. The approach to the cabin means that you are comfortable driving a road in the woods, including driving up and down small roads. Snow & ice are conditions you may find December 1 through March 31st we provide a shovel and a limited amount of rock salt at the cabin. Are you prepared for Snow and Ice for you, all guests, and your car is a question you must ask yourself when visiting us during the winter. We can’t forecast the weather, nor can we make it stop if it starts :-). Hence you need to be certain you can take care of yourselves and car (snowchains, or AWD, or 4x4 are the best options). In the event of a winter storm during your stay we will instruct you on where your vehicles will be placed for your safety, this may involve a short walk from that location to the cabin door . In general snow fall is light and usually melts the next day. Most of the gravel road is county maintained and thus cleared, however the last .5 miles up to the cabins is in a private neighborhood where snow removal is a group, best can do, best effort basis. That said we drive our Jeep 4x4 through all snow in and out of the same roads all the time, and we are used to snow. The winter months are wonderful months in Blowing Rock, great for a fire, some out door hiking, tubing, skiing and hot tubing, pls be vigilante on the weather as its usually in a forecast, and you can put yourselves and your cars in the right places for total success.brbrWe are providing you a License to use our Cabin similar to that of renting a car, as a licensee you are bound to the cabin rules at all times, and you forgo the rights of a lease or tenant. Violations of our cabin rules can result in your immediate removal from our cabin, by renting our cabin you agree to these terms. If you'd like a full copy of the license please let us know in advance and one will be provided to you.brbrWIFI - Its Satellite based. That means it has a delay and is not ideal for 2 way communication such ZOOM. Second it means that during a storm the weather can cloud out the connection and your WiFi may degrade. Most guests have found it great, streaming is possible if the weather is good, and we’ve had guests work and play in our cabin with out issue, but we do point this out as there are no buried cables or fiber on our remote properties.
