Serene Mountain Retreat With Breathtaking Mountain Views | Hillside Terrace

Highlands, North Carolina, United States

This Rent In Highlands home is pet friendly for one small dog, under 20 pounds. Pets must be pre-approved. An additional non-refundable pet fee is required and is not included in the rental fee. Please call our office for approval and to pay the pet fee. Failure to adhere to this policy will result in a $1000.00 fine.brbrOnly adults (25 years old and older) may reserve this property and an adult must occupy the property at all times.brbrThis home has exterior cameras for security purposes.brbrThree Levels. Four Porches. One Mountain View That Puts Everything in Perspective.brbrSomewhere between arriving and unpacking, it happens. You find yourself standing at the picture windows, mountain ridgeline filling the frame, and the mental math of everyday life just quietly stops. That's the Hillside Terrace effect — and it tends to set in fast.brbrNestled into the hills less than two miles from downtown Highlands, this beautifully furnished three-level home was designed around the view and built for the kind of group that wants space, comfort, and enough outdoor living to make the inside feel like a bonus. Multiple screened porches on every level. A firepit terrace for evenings under the stars. Expansive picture windows that turn the mountains into living art. Four bedrooms spread across three thoughtfully laid-out floors. This is the rare rental where everyone gets their own corner of the house — and their own reason to love it.brbrThe Main Level Sets the Tone - A plush oversized sofa, a gas-log fireplace, and picture windows looking out at the hillside — the living room earns its place as the natural center of the trip within the first hour. The well-appointed kitchen connects seamlessly through a pass-through window, keeping whoever's cooking part of the conversation, and the dining area opens directly onto a screened-in porch where meals come with a hillside view and mountain air included at no extra charge. The main-level primary suite completes the floor in style — king bed, streaming TV, ensuite bath, and its own private screened porch for mornings that deserve to start slowly.brbrThe Lower Level Pulls Its Weight - Downstairs is where the trip loosens up. A cozy den and kitchenette make the lower level self-sufficient enough for guests who want their own space, while a table tennis setup provides the kind of low-stakes competition that inevitably turns serious by night two. A queen guest bedroom and full bath round out the level, and the lower screened porch adds yet another outdoor perch to the rotation — quieter, more tucked away, and particularly good for an afternoon with a book and a cold drink.brbrUpstairs, Comfort With Character - Two upper-level guest bedrooms each come outfitted with motorized adjustable queen beds — the kind of feature that seems like a small thing until you've spent a night in one — alongside Samsung TVs and a shared full bath with tub-shower combo. Note that these rooms use window A/C units rather than central air, so they're worth keeping in mind when sorting out who sleeps where, especially in warmer months.brbrThe Firepit Terrace Closes the Deal - When the sun drops behind the ridge and the air cools down the way only mountain air does, the firepit terrace becomes the place. Gather around, pour something worth sipping, and let the evening go wherever it wants to. With multiple screened porches already in the rotation and this as the final act, outdoor living at Hillside Terrace isn't an amenity — it's a lifestyle.brbrDowntown Highlands is under two miles away. The restaurants, shops, waterfalls, and trails are all within easy reach. But between the porches, the firepit, the views, and the adjustable beds, leaving might take more motivation than expected.brbrSpecial Amenities:brbrGas FireplacebrScreened In Porch with Gas FirepitbrOutdoor Wood FirepitbrPing Pong TablebrbrThis home is professionally managed by Rent in Highlands, a division of Country Club Properties. Rustic Elegance. Three Fireplaces. A Crown Jewel of a Screened Porch | Sagee Woods

Highlands, North Carolina, United States

This Rent In Highlands vacation rental home is pet friendly for one small dog, under 20 pounds. Pets must be pre-approved. An additional non-refundable pet fee is required and is not included in the rental fee. Please call our office for approval and to pay the pet  fee. Failure to adhere to this policy will result in a $1000.00 fine.brbrOnly adults (25 years old and older) may reserve this property and an adult must occupy the property at all times.brbrWhat is The 100 Collection™ brbrThe 100 Collection™ imprint on a property indicates it is part of a collaborative effort to set the gold standard for vacation rentals. The professionals caring for these properties must meet the highest hospitality standards. Additionally, properties in this collection must pass specific quality, safety, and cleanliness inspections. Only locally owned and/or operated vacation rental brands are invited to be considered for this stamp of approval, which is issued by a trusted peer-to-peer collective of leading industry owners and managers.brbrThe foyer sets the tone before you've put down a single bag. Vaulted ceilings. A striking staircase. The kind of architectural first impression that makes you slow down and actually look at where you are. From that moment forward, this home delivers on the promise consistently — room by room, fireplace by fireplace, right through to the screened porch that will almost certainly become the unofficial headquarters of your entire stay.brbrFour bedrooms. Four bathrooms. Three fireplaces distributed across the spaces where they matter most. Two and a half miles from downtown Highlands. One house that somehow manages to feel both grand and genuinely livable at the same time.brbrA Main Level That Doesn't Waste a Single Room - The open-concept kitchen and living area is where the trip takes shape. High-end appliances, beautiful countertops, and a large island that handles everything from serious meal prep to morning coffee to mapping out the day's hike — the kitchen here is built for people who actually cook, and equally welcoming for people who just like to stand around one while someone else does. The adjacent living room with its stone fireplace is the natural landing spot for slower moments — reading, streaming, the kind of afternoon that disappears pleasantly without anyone noticing. The dining room, anchored by a gorgeous table with space for the whole group, earns its keep for everything from proper dinners to marathon board game sessions.brbrThe main-level primary suite operates on a different level entirely. A king bed. A private seating area in front of its own fireplace. A beautifully appointed ensuite that makes the morning routine feel like something worth lingering over. This is the suite that whoever claims it will not be giving up gracefully.brbrUpstairs, Everyone Gets Their Own Space - Three additional bedrooms on the upper level, each with a private bathroom — a detail that sounds simple and turns out to be the difference between a smooth group trip and a logistical negotiation every morning. Comfortable, well-appointed, and private enough that guests on this level feel like they have their own wing of the house.brbrThe Screened Porch is the Reason You'll Come Back - Every element of this home is well-executed. The screened porch is exceptional. A fireplace. Generous seating arranged for actual conversation. A gaming table for when the evening needs a little more structure. And the particular mountain stillness that a screened porch delivers — close enough to outside to hear everything, sheltered enough to stay as long as you want regardless of what the weather decides to do.brbrMorning coffee here. Post-hike decompression here. After-dinner drinks that stretch well past midnight here. The screened porch is the room that ends up in every story told about this trip for the next several years.brbr2.5 Miles From Everything Highlands Does Best Award-winning restaurants. Art galleries. Live performances at the Highlands Playhouse. Spas. Boutique shopping. Scenic hiking trails that reward whatever level of effort you're willing to give. Downtown Highlands packs more into a small mountain town than most places manage with ten times the footprint — and it's all 2.5 miles from the front door.brbrCome for the mountains. Stay for the porch. Leave already calculating when you can come back.brbrWhat our guests are saying…brbrBeautiful Home. Couldn't ask for a nicer home, clean, well appointed and the team is very responsive and easy to work with. We had all kinds of changes and they reacted quickly and professionally. A 100-Year-Old Mill. A River That Wraps the House. A Water Wheel Still Turning | The Millhouse

Highlands, North Carolina, United States

This Rent In Highlands vacation rental home is pet friendly for one small dog, under 50 pounds. Only locally owned and/or operated vacation rental brands are invited to be considered for this stamp of approval, which is issued by a trusted peer-to-peer collective of leading industry owners and managers.brbrThere is no other property like this one.brbrA century-old mill, completely renovated, sitting where the Cullasaja River curves around it like it was always meant to hold the house in place. Mirror Lake spills over the spillway just beyond the deck. Native rhododendron and mountain laurel press in close on every side. Two canoes wait at the water's edge. A goldfish pond catches the light near the lower porch. And a water wheel — an actual, working water wheel — turns slowly in the current while the river runs underneath the house and the sound of moving water follows you from room to room, level to level, porch to porch.brbrThis is not a vacation rental with water views. This is a home built into the water itself, surrounded by over a century of history and more natural beauty than most people encounter in a lifetime of travel.brbrHistory You Can Actually Feel  - The mill has been here since before anyone on your trip was born, and the renovation that brought it into the present was done with the kind of care that preserves what makes old things irreplaceable. The bones are original. The kitchen is modern. The family room and den are generous and comfortable. The primary bedroom on the main level offers its own fireplace and a sitting area with views of the river and the rhododendron beyond — the kind of room you describe to people afterward and watch their expressions change as they realize what you're actually talking about.brbrThree screened porches across three levels. A large open deck beside the river. A covered upper porch wrapping two sides of the house over the water. A private deck off the main bedroom. A balcony for two upstairs. This house has more ways to be outside — and more reasons to be — than almost any property in the Highlands area.brbrRoom for Everyone, Porches for All of Them Four bedrooms on the upper level — three private rooms with river and nature views, plus a bunk room with four bunk beds for younger travelers who will spend the trip convinced they have the best beds in the house — give large families and groups the space to spread out without anyone losing the sound of the river. The main level primary suite with its fireplace and private deck handles the adults who need something quieter. The lower level adds additional private spaces for reading, relaxing, and sitting beside a goldfish pond that overlooks Mirror Lake as if that's simply a normal thing to have outside your window.brbrIt is not a normal thing. Nothing about this property is normal. That's entirely the point.brbrThe Outdoor Life Here is Unmatched. Start at the open deck just off the dining room — river beside you, outdoor dining set ready, the spillway audible from your chair. Move to the screened main-level porch when the sun shifts, where plush furniture and a direct connection to the den make it the natural afternoon landing spot. Let the evening find its way to the fire pit at the front of the house, where the river sounds carry across the yard and the stars over the Highlands mountains earn their reputation.brbrTwo canoes. A river full of current. Mirror Lake full of fish. A water wheel marking time. The Cullasaja wrapping the house on its way downstream. The rhododendron blooming in season around every corner.brbrYou could go hiking. You could drive to town for dinner. You could do all the things people come to Highlands to do. Or you could simply stay here, where the river is the activity and the water wheel is the entertainment and the sound of rushing water makes every other plan feel slightly less urgent than it did when you arrived.brbrDowntown Highlands is minutes away when you need it. The river isn't going anywhere.brbrWhat our guests are saying…brbrGreat home, minutes from downtown Highlands, but very private with the sound of the spillway and the river flowing around the property. Enjoyed the firepit overlooking the spillway of Mirror Lake and had fun fishing. Very comfortable for adults, teens, and children. - Rent In Highlands Vacation Rental Guest, CarlbrbrRent In Highlands Vacation Rental Cancellation PolicybrbrPolicy (A)  for reservations less than 20 days:brA reservation canceled between 0-45 days prior to arrival is not eligible to receive a refund. Two Master Suites. Three Screened Porches. Seven Minutes From Downtown.brbrThis is the kind of home that takes a minute to fully absorb.brbrNot because it's complicated — the layout is actually intuitive and easy to move through — but because every time you think you've found the best view in the house, you go up a level and find a better one. The main-level screened porch looks out over Blue Valley in a way that stops conversations mid-sentence. The upper master suite balcony takes that same view and elevates it — literally — into something that stretches for miles in every direction and may be the single best seat in the entire property.brbrFive bedrooms across three levels. Two private master suites, each with its own ensuite, office, closets, and balcony. Three screened porches. A gas grill. A ping pong table. A two-car garage. Step-free laundry. And seven minutes of easy road between you and downtown Highlands.brbrThis is the one you book when the whole group is coming and you refuse to compromise.brbrThe Main Level Sets the Tone - Vaulted ceilings, paneled walls, beautiful hardwood floors, and a gorgeous stone fireplace anchoring a bright, open living area — the main floor makes a strong first impression and holds it throughout. The kitchen, living, and dining spaces flow together in the open-plan way that makes group living feel effortless rather than crowded. French doors open directly onto the main-level screened porch, where Blue Valley fills the frame and the gas grill is ready for whoever calls dinner duty. A full bath and a dedicated office complete the practical side of the floor, and the step-free laundry room — genuinely accessible, genuinely large — means longer stays require nothing but a slightly lighter suitcase.brbrThe main-level master suite earns its title: king bed, private ensuite, walk-in closets, and a private balcony for mornings that deserve to start quietly, just the two of you and the mountain air.brbrUpstairs, the Views Get Serious - Three bedrooms on the upper level give the rest of the group comfortable, well-appointed space — two queen guest rooms and a second full master suite that rivals the one downstairs in every way that matters. Private ensuite. Dedicated office. Closets. And a balcony with what guests consistently describe as the best view in the house — expansive, sweeping Blue Valley scenery that stretches further than you expect and never gets ordinary. Both couples get a master suite. Nobody negotiates. Everyone wins.brbrThe Lower Level Earns Its Keep - The den on the lower level provides a natural second gathering space — quieter, more relaxed, perfect for movie nights or the members of the group who need a break from the main floor energy without leaving the house entirely. A fifth bedroom with twin beds handles the youngest travelers or overflow guests, a full bath serves the level, and the third screened porch — furnished with comfortable seating and a ping pong table — gives the downstairs its own outdoor identity. Three screened porches across three levels means someone always has somewhere comfortable to be outside, regardless of weather, regardless of mood.brbrSeven Minutes From Everything Worth Doing - Downtown Highlands at 2.3 miles means acclaimed restaurants, boutique shopping, waterfalls, hiking trails, art galleries, live performances, and the Old Edwards Inn and Spa are all within easy reach. Brazilian Cherry Floors. A Stone Fireplace That Means Business.brbrCustom-built homes have a way of announcing themselves — not loudly, but in the details that reveal someone actually cared about every decision. The massive stone wood-burning fireplace with its custom wood mantle. The wormy maple cabinets in a kitchen finished with granite and Brazilian Cherry floors. The exposed beam pine ceilings that make the great room feel like it was assembled by someone who understood exactly what a mountain home should feel like from the inside.brbrThis is that home. Nestled on over an acre in the Hidden Springs neighborhood of Highlands, 3.8 miles from Main Street, private enough to genuinely decompress and convenient enough to make town a non-event whenever the group is ready. Five bedrooms across three levels, a game room, a hot tub, a fire pit in the yard, and a screened porch with a gas grill — this is the mountain getaway that checks every box without feeling like it was assembled from a checklist.brbrA Great Room That Sets the Standard  - The main level announces the quality of the whole house immediately. Vaulted pine ceilings with exposed beams stretch overhead, Brazilian Cherry floors run underfoot, and the stone fireplace — massive, wood-burning, anchored by a custom mantle — commands the room with the kind of presence that makes every evening feel like an occasion. The open kitchen flows naturally into the dining nook and great room, finished with stainless steel appliances, granite countertops, and custom wormy maple cabinetry that provides more storage than most vacation rentals attempt. A king bedroom with a private ensuite completes the main floor for whoever prefers single-level living.brbrThree Levels, Five Bedrooms, Everyone Accommodated - Upstairs, two queen bedrooms share a well-positioned bathroom — comfortable, private, and removed enough from the main floor activity to offer genuine rest. A twin bedroom with its own ensuite adds flexibility for younger travelers or solo guests who appreciate their own space.brbrThe lower level is where the trip shifts into a higher gear. A game room anchored by a ping-pong table, an oversized sectional sofa, and a large flat-screen TV becomes the unofficial headquarters for rainy afternoons and late nights that outlast everyone's better judgment. A king bedroom with an ensuite and a bunk room with two sets of bunk beds — also with its own ensuite — give the lower level enough sleeping capacity to function as a self-contained wing for part of the group. Direct deck access from the hallway puts the hot tub and fire pit within easy reach from this level, which means the kids and teenagers effectively have their own outdoor space without competing for the screened porch upstairs.brbrOutside: Screened Porch, Hot Tub, Fire Pit — The Full Rotation The screened porch off the main living area handles the social hours — cozy seating, a gas grill, and the particular mountain stillness that a screened porch delivers when the trees are close and the air is cool. The covered lower deck takes the evening in a different direction: a hot tub positioned for maximum relaxation after a long hike, additional seating for whoever needs the quieter outdoor space, and private access from the lower king bedroom for mornings that deserve to begin outside.brbrWhen the night calls for something more elemental, the fire pit in the yard pulls everyone together — the lower deck connects directly to it, which means the transition from hot tub to fire pit is approximately twelve steps and entirely worth making.brbrHidden Springs, Highlands, Everything in Between  - The Hidden Springs neighborhood offers the privacy of acreage and trees without the remoteness of being genuinely far from town. Main Street Highlands is 3.8 miles — acclaimed restaurants, boutique shopping, waterfalls, hiking trails, and everything else that makes Highlands worth the drive from wherever you're coming from. Come for a long weekend. Book a full week. With a game room, a hot tub, a fire pit, and five bedrooms spread across three thoughtfully designed levels, leaving the property requires actual motivation.brbrThe stone fireplace will be here when you get back.brbrWhat our guests are saying...brbrThe perfect getaway house for a big group. We had 13 people in our group and this house was perfect for us! Great size with large rooms. The main area is spacious and a great gathering spot. Everything was set up so nice and clean! We loved the porch and the fire pit out back. The Lodge That Ruins Every Other Rental For You | Laughing Bear Lodge

Failure to adhere to this policy will result in a $1000.00 fine.brbrOnly adults (25 years old and older) may reserve this property and an adult must occupy the property at all times.brbrFair warning: after a few days here, ordinary vacation rentals are going to feel like a letdown.brbrThis is not an ordinary vacation rental.brbrA 23-foot vaulted great room with a stone wood-burning fireplace. Original fine art on the walls. Period antiques that actually belong. A wormy Chestnut kitchen island. A library stocked with books and games. A wraparound covered porch with two dining tables, a wood-burning stone fireplace, a porch swing, and a private hot tub under the open sky. Mirror Lake a short stroll down the road, where the Canadian Geese and Mallards have long since decided this neighborhood belongs to them.brbrThis is the kind of lodge that makes you wonder why you ever stayed anywhere else — and start planning the return trip before you've unpacked.brbrA Great Room That Commands Attention The moment you step inside, the architecture makes its case. Twenty-three feet of vaulted ceiling overhead, gleaming hardwood floors underfoot, a massive stone wood-burning fireplace filling the wall in front of you. The great room here isn't a feature — it's a statement about what this entire property values: space, warmth, and the kind of refined comfort that doesn't require explaining. Fine original art and carefully chosen antiques give the room a soul that no amount of interior design budget alone can manufacture. It simply took time and taste to get here.brbrThe fully equipped kitchen anchors one end of the main level with the same quiet confidence — a wormy Chestnut island that's as beautiful as it is functional, and a layout that makes cooking for a crowd feel less like a production and more like part of the evening.brbrTwo King Suites. Neither One a Compromise. The main-level king primary suite offers a walk-in closet, a walk-in shower, and a jetted soaking tub — the kind of bathroom that changes how you feel about mornings. Upstairs, the second king primary suite matches it stride for stride with its own walk-in closet, walk-in shower, and a soaking tub built for two. A third bedroom with a queen bed completes the upper level for additional guests. Three bedrooms, three distinct experiences, and enough bathroom luxury distributed across the house that no one feels like they drew the short straw.brbrThe Library, the Porch Swing, the Hot Tub The handsome library — stocked with books, games, and the kind of atmosphere that makes an afternoon disappear — is the room that surprises people. It's easy to walk past and then find yourself still there two hours later. But the wraparound covered porch is where this property truly distinguishes itself. A porch swing at the front for slow mornings. Two dining tables and new patio furniture for meals that stretch long into the evening. A wood-burning stone fireplace for when the mountain air turns cool. And a private hot tub positioned for maximum star visibility — because a soak under a clear Highlands sky is the kind of experience that doesn't translate in photos but stays with you for years.brbrJust off the kitchen, a screened-in porch adds another layer of outdoor living — comfortable seating, tranquil views, and a seamless connection back to the wraparound porch so the whole outdoor circuit flows without interruption.brbrMirror Lake, Minutes Away Stroll down to Mirror Lake and let the morning find its own pace. The resident Canadian Geese and Mallards are reliably charming, the landscape surrounding the lake is quietly stunning, and the walk back to the lodge — knowing what's waiting on that porch — is one of the better short walks you'll take all trip.brbrDowntown Highlands is minutes away. The restaurants, the shops, the waterfalls, the trails — all within easy reach. But between the library, the porch, the two fireplaces, and that hot tub, you may find the outside world requires less attention than you expected.brbrCome for the mountains. Stay for the lodge. Leave already negotiating dates for next year.brbrWhat our guests are saying…brbrLaughing Bear Lodge is the perfect home away from home. The bedrooms are spacious with very comfortable beds. The living area s perfect for a family gathering. It’s a quiet neighborhood with beauty all around. The home is ideally located close to shopping in the quaint town of the Highlands, national park trails and restaurants. - Rent In Highlands Vacation Rental Guest, Katherine W.brbrRent In Highlands Vacation Rental Cancellation PolicybrbrPolicy (A)  for reservations less than 20 days:brA reservation canceled between 0-45 days prior to arrival is not eligible to receive a refund. High End Lakefront Home in gated community with canoe, 2 fireplaces, pets ok

Highlands, North Carolina, United States

It absolutely doesn’t get more comfortable than Boathouse Lane. With high end décor and all the comforts and spaciousness of home, this cabin is perfectly cozy for a couple but it really shines as a place to entertain. The Location: Boathouse Lane is perfectly situated in the corridor between Highlands and Cashiers. It’s in a gated community on the serene backdrop of Lake Ravenel . It’s just far enough from the beaten path that you will have privacy but close enough that dinner/shopping on Main Street is quick jaunt away. The Property: Boathouse Lane is privately located on a large lakefront lot with no other homes on the street. The neighborhood takes attention to detail seriously and has meticulously captured the natural beauty of the areas while blending in charming high-end homes. The driveway is flat and not the least bit intimidating with only one step to the main door. There is a small grass yard for frolicking and beautiful landscaping that is indigenous to the area. The Cabin: Boathouse Lane has all brand new high end finishes, including wood walls, wood ceilings, a soaring stone hearth fireplace inside and another wood burning fireplace outside, a spacious outdoor screened porch, and oversized King suites with ensuite bathrooms to match. The Layout: From the front door, guests enter into an open foyer that leads into the large dining area for 10. The kitchen is to the right and looks onto the large gathering room with two different living spaces and a sliding door that leads to an oversized screen porch with wood-burning fireplace. There are 2 bedrooms on the main floor, a King master suite with an impressively large his and hers ensuite bathroom featuring his and hers toilets and vanities, a double-soded shower, and a large soaking tub. Another King bedroom with ensuite bath can also be found on the main floor and it has a bathroom with a tub/shower combo. Up the stairs to another landing nook with more intimate seating leading to an additional oversized King master suite with his and hers ensuite bathroom featuring a soaking tub, seamless shower, and double vanities. On the other side of the seating area, there is a small hallway leading to a bunkroom with 2 Twin beds and an ensuite bathroom featuring a small shower and vanity. Oh, and we won’t spoil the secret but there are some fun secret hiding places for the kids built throughout the house. The Area: Highlands is the premier mountain destination in the Southeast. Lined with shopping, dining, museums and galleries, the bustling mountain village centering around Main Street is straight from a Norman Rockwell painting. Previously a summer/fall hotspot, it’s quickly becoming a year-round destination. At 4,118 feet, it’s one of the few temperate rain forests in North America, bringing botanists and nature lovers from all over the world. Highlands is also a mecca for outdoor enthusiasts. With an abundance of opportunities for biking, hiking, horseback riding, tubing, canoeing, fly fishing, and whitewater rafting, adventure-seekers will not find a more beautiful backdrop. Floor-to-Ceiling Windows. Wraparound Deck. Wood-Burning Fireplace | Wildwood Mountain Cottage

Failure to adhere to this policy will result in a $1000.00 fine.brbrOnly adults (25 years old and older) may reserve this property and an adult must occupy the property at all times.brbrPerfectly Situated Between Highlands and Cashiers.brbrThe wooded hillside does most of the work before you've even stepped inside. The Wildwood Mountain community sits in that rare geographic pocket between Highlands and Cashiers where the quiet feels intentional and the light through the trees changes the mood of the whole day. By the time you reach the wraparound deck and the newly added covered entertaining area with its wood-burning fireplace and rocking chairs, the unwinding has already begun.brbrThis is a home that understands what a mountain retreat is actually supposed to do — and delivers it without asking you to compromise on comfort, space, or any of the details that make the difference between a good trip and the one you're already planning to repeat.brbrLight, Open, and Engineered for Ease - Single-level living means nobody navigates stairs in the dark, nobody feels separated from the group, and the open layout does what open layouts are supposed to do — keeps everyone connected without crowding anyone out. Floor-to-ceiling windows flood the large living room with the wooded hillside and changing sky, vaulted ceilings give the space room to breathe, and the stone gas fireplace anchors it all with the warmth that makes staying in feel like the obvious choice on cool mountain evenings.brbrThe fully equipped kitchen with its gas cooktop and breakfast island flows naturally into the dining and living areas — the kind of layout that makes family meals feel effortless and keeps the cook part of the conversation rather than exiled behind a wall. Everything connects. Nothing interrupts.brbrThree Bedrooms, Maximum Privacy - The layout here is quietly clever. Two primary suites sit on opposite ends of the house — one with a king bed, one with two queens — giving two families or two couples genuine separation without sacrificing the shared spaces that make a group trip worth taking. A third queen bedroom fills the middle ground, perfect for friends rounding out the group who want comfort without the primary suite designation. Three bedrooms, three distinct experiences, and enough thoughtful distance between them that everyone sleeps well and wakes up happy.brbrThe Deck is Where the Trip Lives - The wraparound deck alone would be enough — space for outdoor dining, mountain air, the wooded hillside in every direction. But the newly added covered entertaining area takes things further: a wood-burning fireplace, comfortable rockers, and a sheltered space that extends the outdoor season well into the cooler months and keeps the group outside long after dinner is finished and the fire is the only light left.brbrMorning coffee in the rockers. Afternoon meals at the outdoor dining table. Evening fires that stretch longer than planned because nobody wants to be the first one to go inside. That's the rhythm this deck invites, and it's a good one.brbrBetween Two of the Best Mountain Towns in the South - Wildwood Mountain sits squarely between Highlands and Cashiers — two destinations in one trip, with waterfalls, hiking trails, acclaimed restaurants, boutique shopping, and the Old Edwards Inn and Spa accessible from either direction. Come when the rhododendrons are blooming. Come when the fall color peaks. Come when the fireplace outside is the best possible reason to sit still.brbrThere's no bad time. There's just your time, and when you want it.brbrWhat our guests are saying…brbrWildwood Mountain Cottage was perfect for our family. Having everything on one level was great for our elderly parents who no longer navigate stairs very well. The outdoor fireplace is such a wonderful addition and we can't wait to come back in the fall - Rent In Highlands Vacation Rental Guest, Brenda C.brbrSpecial Amenities:brbrWrap-around PorchbrIndoor Gas Fire PlacebrCovered deck with woodburning fireplacebrbrOnly adults (25 years old and older) may reserve this property and an adult must occupy the property at all times.brbrThis home is professionally managed by Rent in Highlands, a division of Country Club Properties. The Main House Has Everything. The Studio Changes the Math | Rolling Acres Bungalow

Failure to adhere to this policy will result in a $1000.00 fine.brbrOnly adults (25 years old and older) may reserve this property and an adult must occupy the property at all times.brbrThere's a layout problem that every group eventually runs into — too many people for a normal rental, not enough privacy for everyone to actually enjoy themselves. This home solves it quietly and elegantly: three bedrooms and two bathrooms on one open, comfortable main level, plus a completely separate studio suite with its own entrance, queen bed, ensuite bath, and pull-out sofa tucked below.brbrTwo families who want to share a trip but not a hallway. A group of couples where one pair goes to bed early and one doesn't. Grandparents who need their own space. In-laws. The friend who snores. The studio handles all of it without anyone having to negotiate.brbrThe Main Level Gets the Fundamentals Right - Open-concept living, dining, and kitchen spaces flow into each other the way they should — generous, connected, and easy to be in whether the whole group is cooking together or scattered across the couch with books and bad television. A wood-burning fireplace anchors the living room with the kind of warmth that makes staying in feel like the right call even when the weather is perfect outside. The king primary bedroom is exactly what the name implies. The two queen guest rooms share a hallway bath and give the rest of the group comfortable, well-appointed places to land at the end of the day.brbrThe Studio is the Secret Weapon - Separate entrance. Queen bed. Private ensuite. Pull-out sofa for overflow. The studio isn't an afterthought tucked under the stairs — it's a fully functional fourth bedroom that gives whoever stays there genuine independence from the main house. Come and go as you please. Keep your own hours. Join the group when you want to, disappear when you don't. It's the kind of flexibility that turns a good group trip into a great one.brbrOutside: Screened Porch, Firepit, Fenced Yard The screened porch does the heavy lifting for outdoor entertaining — large dining table, comfortable seating, a television, and enough shelter to make al fresco meals the easy default regardless of what the mountain weather decides to do. When evening settles in, the firepit draws everyone out for the part of the trip that tends to generate the best stories. And the fenced yard means the dog didn't have to stay home — let them run while the humans claim their chairs around the fire.brbrThis is the kind of home where the dog ends up being everyone's favorite part of the trip. One house that manages to feel both artfully designed and genuinely, deeply comfortable.brbrSeven minutes from Highlands. Ten from Cashiers. Somehow completely removed from both.brbrA Main Level Built Around the View The great room earns every square foot. Plush leather seating faces a floor-to-ceiling stone wood-burning fireplace on one side and an uninterrupted frame of Shortoff Mountain on the other — large windows pulling the outside in with the quiet confidence of a home that knows it has nothing to prove. Concrete countertops, a spacious island, and beautiful pine cabinetry make the kitchen the kind of space where cooking feels optional but enjoyable, and the open connection to the dining and living areas keeps everyone together without crowding anyone out.brbrThe main-level king master suite deserves its own paragraph. Artist-designed wrought iron and turquoise-inlaid mahogany furniture. A private bath with double vanities and a walk-in shower. A private deck with mountain views that makes getting out of bed a genuinely difficult decision each morning. It is, by any measure, a room worth booking the trip for.brbrA second main-level bedroom — a queen room furnished with a custom iron and pecan bed and period antiques — brings the kind of timeless, considered warmth that only comes from someone who actually thought about what sleeping in this room should feel like.brbrUpstairs, the Second King Suite Goes Its Own Way Cathedral ceilings with wood beams. A large walk-in closet. A private bath. And an elevated sense of space and quiet that makes the upper king suite feel less like a bedroom and more like a retreat within the retreat. Two king suites, neither one a compromise, neither one within earshot of the other. Traveling with another couple just became considerably more appealing.brbrThree Decks. Each One Different. All of Them Worth It. The open deck handles casual outdoor moments — seating for four, fresh air, mountain views, the kind of spot you end up at with a coffee before anyone else is awake. The covered porch deck operates at full scale — dining table for eight, gas grill, and a wood-burning fireplace that makes outdoor dinners viable well into fall and surprisingly far into spring. And then there's the spa deck, which is genuinely its own experience: a six-person hot tub encircled by flame azaleas and rhododendrons, with Shortoff Mountain as the backdrop and nothing between you and the sky. Come peak bloom season, the azaleas alone are worth the trip.brbrThe main-level master suite adds a fourth private deck for anyone who needs a completely secluded outdoor moment — because apparently this house believes everyone deserves their own piece of the mountain.brbrThe Mountains Are the Calendar Seven minutes to Highlands means acclaimed restaurants, boutique shopping, waterfalls, and trailheads are genuinely close. Ten minutes to Cashiers opens up even more. In every direction, the Southern Appalachians offer the kind of hiking, swimming holes, and scenery that fills days without any planning required. Come in spring for the azalea bloom surrounding the hot tub. Come in fall for the color. Come in winter for the fireplace — both of them.brbrThere's no bad time. There's just your time, and when you want to book it.brbrWhat our guests are saying…brbrPictures don't do it justice!
