There are vacation rentals that are close to town. And then there's this — a tastefully renovated ranch cottage sitting directly across from Harris Lake, a few blocks from Main Street Highlands, with the Lakeside Restaurant visible from the front porch and every great thing downtown has to offer a short, flat walk in the other direction.

Location this good usually comes at the expense of the home itself. Not here.

A Cottage That Got Everything Right - Custom finishes, warm wood floors, a wood-burning fireplace, and folk-art touches throughout that give the space a personality you can't manufacture with a staging budget — this is a home that was decorated by someone with an actual point of view, and it shows in every room. Cozy without being cramped, stylish without trying too hard, and scaled perfectly for a couple or small family who want comfort without the overhead of managing a large house on vacation.

Two bedrooms — one queen, one with twins — and two thoughtfully appointed bathrooms, one with a walk-in shower and one with a tub and shower combo. Everything you need. Nothing you don't.

The Porches Are the Point - A covered front porch and a screened porch, both looking out over Harris Lake — this is where the trip actually lives. Morning coffee with the lake catching the early light. Afternoon reading while the ducks make their rounds on the water below. Evening drinks as the town starts to quiet down and the Lakeside Restaurant glows across the way. Two distinct outdoor spaces, one view, endless reasons to stay outside longer than planned.

Walk Everywhere That Matters - Main Street Highlands is a few blocks in one direction — acclaimed restaurants, boutique shops, art galleries, the Highlands Playhouse, and the Old Edwards Inn and Spa all on foot from the front door. Mountain Fresh Market is an easy stroll for morning provisions or a casual dinner when cooking sounds more appealing than going out. Harris Lake is literally across the street, with a peaceful path around the water and the resident ducks and geese who have very clearly decided this neighborhood belongs to them.

Highlands is a town best experienced on foot. This cottage puts you in the middle of all of it.

Rent In Highlands Vacation Rental Cancellation Policy

Policy (A)  for reservations less than 20 days:
A reservation canceled between 0-45 days prior to arrival is not eligible to receive a refund. If more than 45 days notice is given, the renter shall receive a refund of all payments made, less a cancellation fee of 10% of the Total Cost of the Reservation.

Policy (B) for reservations of 20 days or more and reservations made 6 months in advance:
NO refund is given unless the property is re-rented under the same terms (Trip insurance is available and recommended to help protect your trip).
