This presents amazing photographic opportunities but requires guests to be aware of the space and their surroundings. Please don't leave food or garbage outside to deter weasels, coyotes, foxes, or bears (mostly black bears, we haven't seen grizzlies in the local area for a number of years). Don't approach moose as they are more dangerous than their adorable appearance makes them appear. Finally, we do our very best with mouse mitigation inside the house, but occasionally one will evade our efforts, so if that happens please let us know and we will place additional traps. We use mouse poison in the winter when there are no guests with small children or pets who could be harmed by its use.

It is a great launching point for the park and a safe place to stay. However, things are done differently here compared with most American towns. brbrFor example, most roads are gravel, and locals are not required to restrain their dogs from roaming free. I have never had a safety issue in East Glacier, and I do not know anyone who has; the dogs are accustomed to people and, as far as I have seen or heard, generally leave people alone. If this kind of environment is concerning for you, please keep the nature of this location in mind before booking. brbrThese characteristics apply to all of East Glacier, not just this property; I mention them because many East Glacier rentals do not communicate the nature of the town well, and sometimes people are surprised when they arrive. All that said, I love East Glacier, and I vacation here myself with my family, my young children, and my dog, and we have a great time!brbrAnother aspect of staying in a small town is limited grocery availability. I suggest you stock up on the way — in Browning if coming from the east, or on the other side of Glacier Park if coming from the west (Columbia Falls, for example).
