We have fallen in love with this little lake town, Frankfort, and we hope you do too! Cottage is 1 mile from Lake Michigan, 1/4 mile to the Betsie Lake boat launch, and 1/2 mile from downtown. You can walk to its amazing restaurants & bars, including Stormcloud Brewing, cute coffee shops, and 4 of the best ice cream stops! Short drives to Crystal Lake, Crystal Mountain Ski Resort, Sleeping Bear Dunes, and Traverse City.brbrThe SpacebrOur cottage is new to us in 2022. It was built before the 1900s. We have fully renovated the bathroom, bedrooms, living room, laundry room, and partial kitchen remodel. We had fun designing the bathroom. We hope you enjoy the skylight, stained glass window, and “shower” fridge. Fill it with adult beverages, pop, or any drink of your choice. Just in case you need to quench your thirst when showering ; ] Kitchen includes stove, fridge, microwave, and cookware necessities. No dishwasher. We have 3 bedrooms, small in size, but they work just fine. They hold a Queen, Full, and Twin Bunk bed. There is a 65 inch Smart TV for you to log in to any of your streaming services. High Speed Wifi. We have air conditioning. There is a clothes washer and dryer for you to use. We have a few beach towels and provide essential toiletries and linens. There is a fire pit, small charcoal grill and 2 picnic tables in the backyard to enjoy too! We have enough room to park 2 boats on site. brbrGuest AccessbrYou have full access to the property. Feel free to park in the driveway. We will provide the code for the front door prior to your arrival.brbrTo Note brThe cottage is walking distance from everything the town has to offer. The restaurants are amazing with a variety of foods- Birch & Maple, Italian at Vita Bella, multiple coffee shops like Crescent Bakery, small town bars, and its very own Stormcloud Brewing. There are lots of little shops to explore downtown and four cute ice cream shops. Nice clean beach with great public bathrooms, right on Lake Michigan 1 mile away. We try and watch the sunset on Lake Michigan every night. The cottage is on the same road as the boat launch if you are a fisherman. Great area for biking. Try the Betsie River Valley 24 mile bike trail or just cruise around the adorable houses in town. Bike rentals are available at Coastline Cycles. This is a truly exceptional waterfront property in Frankfort! It was built in 2003 and was just purchased by the new owners in December, 2020. The new owners have made a number of great upgrades to the property in terms of furniture, appliances, and amenities!brbrbrbrINTERACTION WITH GUESTS:brbrWe check-in all guests in person, provide them with an overview of the house and answer any questions that they may have, and from there we are available locally to answer any questions or address any issues.brbrbrNEIGHBORHOOD:brbrThe location of the home is wonderful in that, in addition to being a great waterfront property, it is only about 1 mile from the start of downtown Frankfort and it is only about 2 miles from the house to Frankfort Public Beach on Lake Michigan. With the bike trail, it is a scenic and pleasant walk or bike ride from the property to downtown Frankfort and the beach. Downtown Frankfort features a wonderful and very family-friendly array of shops, restaurants, and cafes as well as Stormcloud Microbrewery and the beautiful and historic Garden Theater. Both in the summer and, particularly in the winter, Crystal Mountain Resort offers a wonderful variety of family activities including downhill skiing, snowboarding, cross-country skiing, golf, chair lift rides, and an alpine slide. Crystal Mountain is only about 16 miles (a 22-minute drive) from this vacation home!brbrThere is an abundance of natural beauty in the area with much of it residing publicly in Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. This large and beautiful national lakeshore features incredible views of Lake Michigan from pristine dunes, miles upon miles of hiking trails, and extremely fun kayaking, tubing, paddle boarding, and/or canoeing excursions on the scenic Platte River. The start of Sleeping Bear Dunes is only about 10 miles north of this vacation home along beautiful M22, which itself provides for a great time driving up through the Leelanau Peninsula and exploring the charming little beach towns along the way.brbrIf bigger city activities are desired, downtown Traverse City is only about a 1-hour drive from the property. Our rustic cabin features a large primary bedroom with a king bed, an old-school upper-level bunk room, a screen porch, and all the peace and relaxation you could want.brbrbrbrThe activities are posted weekly and include arts and crafts, dancing, tennis, watersports, theater, bible studies, nature observation, area history, yoga, swimming lessons, and water aerobics. This community has multiple tennis and pickleball courts and offers private beach access to Crystal Lake and Lake Michigan. brbrbrbrStep inside this wooded, rustic cabin with a recent addition of a primary bedroom with a king bed, half bath, fireplace, and walk-out deck, offering a place to rest and relax. If you have a boat, no problem, we have a mooring buoy that holds a boat up to 30 feet in length. A public boat launch is conveniently located adjacent to the property! The open floor plan is great for family fun or entertaining. Cable TV can be found in the living room as well as in the Master Bedroom. Wi-Fi is available for your personal devices. Bright and Airy best describes the feel of the decor. The spacious Living Room has an L shaped couch with plenty of seating, expansive glass sliding doors that open to a balcony that overlooks Crystal Lake. The kitchen is fully equipped with dishes, glass ware, pots and pans, cooking utensils, coffee maker, toaster, microwave, and dishwasher. Both bedrooms have their own bathroom. Truly provides for an incredible family getaway to northern Michigan!brbrbrINTERACTION WITH GUESTS:brbrWe have a local property manager that lives in the area and is available to answer any questions and/or address any issues that may arise.brbrbrNEIGHBORHOOD:brbrThe home is in a incredible location for exploring the northwest corner of Michigan's Lower Peninsula! It is located near the west end of Winnebago Street, just a short walk from both Frankfort Beach and downtown Frankfort. It is a very high-end and safe neighborhood. There is a public easement across the street, which cuts across to Nipissing Street, where there is a walking path that goes down the bluff from the west end of Nipissing Street to Frankfort Beach and Lake Michigan. (The path is somewhat steep and rugged and does not have much in the way of handrails. As such, it may be difficult for elderly individuals or young children.) The Frankfort Pier and the famous Frankfort Lighthouse are also just a short walk south along the beach from the house. brbrThe home is just a few blocks from charming downtown Frankfort. Downtown Frankfort has a growing array of shops, restaurants, cafes, a microbrewery (Stormcloud), and a vintage movie theatre (The Garden Theater). All of this is just a short walk from the house!brbrThe home is also conveniently located close to Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore and Crystal Lake. These provide for a wide mix of hiking, exploring, kayaking, tubing, fishing, and paddleboarding activities in the midst of a truly gorgeous natural environment. The home is also only 18.2 miles (about a 25-minute drive) from Crystal Mountain Resort for skiing, snowboarding, and winter sports.brbrAlso, if larger-city things are desired such as lots of restaurants, great shopping, and lots of entertainment and nightlife options, the home is only an approx. 1-hour drive from downtown Traverse City, which has a wonderful collection of dining, shopping, and entertainment options.brbrbrGUEST ACCESS:brbrGuests have access to the entire property except for the garage and a couple of owner closets, which are all locked off for owner storage. It was bought by the current owners in 2019 and they completely renovated the house over the next few years. The home is now very modern and has a wonderfully casual beachy vibe throughout the house.
