Welcome to “Hoot Mon” Lake House! Hoot Mon Lake House is located in North Windham, Maine, an easy 30 minute drive from Portland International Jetport (PWM) and about 2 hours and 15 minutes north of Boston. Four generations of our family have spent countless summer days lounging on the beach, playing in the water and enjoying the incredible sunsets here on Sebago Basin. The Basin is a smaller outlet of Sebago Lake (connected to the larger lake by a boat-friendly passage under a bridge.) The lake is dotted with islands at the south end and home to many loons and painted turtles. Our lake house is at the end of a small lane and about ten steps from the beach. Our road is a dead end with other camps on it and is therefore a quiet and neighborly little community. brbrHoot Mon has three floors and two full bathrooms. There are two private bedrooms. The upstairs bedroom has a queen bed and an in-suite full bathroom with a stand up shower. The downstairs bedroom has a double bed and access to the second full bathroom (also with a stand up shower) through a large walk in closet. There is also a queen-sized pull-out couch upstairs. Both bedrooms have closets and dressers for your use. brbrThe kitchen is part of an open floor plan and flows into the dining/living space with tons of windows and a panoramic view of the lake. The view is spectacular! The basement is a perfect place to hang in the evening, play a game, watch a movie, do a puzzle and relax! “Charlie’s pub” (named for our grandfather who built the house) is the main attraction down in the basement. There is also a utility room in the back with a washer/drier you are welcome to use.brbrOutside, the private neighborhood beach is just a few steps away. We have beach chairs and towels for your use! We also have a picnic table and grill outside so your family can enjoy the beautiful Maine evenings. There is also a small porch on the front of the house, facing the lake, which is the perfect place to enjoy a relaxing evening and watch the sunset.brbrNorth Windham has lots of shopping and eating options, including Hannaford’s, Shaw’s and Walmart, which are all one mile up the street. There are many family fun activities in town as well! On Saturdays there is a farmers market in town and we are happy to recommend spots for eating and ordering takeout - whether you are looking for something close by or are up for more of an adventure, we have lots of favorite spots!brbrCleaning procedures are in accordance with CDCs guidelines (you’ll receive a welcome letter when you book which outlines our cleaning procedures.) We’re simplifying the dishes & supplies in the kitchen. This spacious home has an open concept kitchen/dining/living space with gorgeous views of Forest Lake. The lake is spring fed, and very clean. Upstairs is heated by baseboard heat. In the summer, there are window AC units in all bedrooms minus the ground floor bedroom (tends to stay cool), as well as a unit in the dining area. For the colder months there is a wonderful propane fireplace in the living area.brbrOur fence varies in height. By the water it is only 2 feet high. brbrUnfortunately our home is not ideal for guests with mobility challenges, with stairs for entry and throughout the house. There is no railing along the dock, nor along the steps to the beach. The 1st floor is the original cabin structure, so has 7' ceilings, with two beams that come down about another 6. The ground floor and 2nd floor have 8' ceilings, and the primary bedroom has a lovely lofted 10' ceiling. brbrThere are shades and curtains on all bedroom windows, as well as in the dining area and kitchen. The large lakeside windows do not have shades or curtains. brbrThe house is one mile down a dirt road. In the summer it's usually in good shape, but can be very bumpy during the shoulder seasons. brDOGS:br-We are pet friendly for non-shedding, well trained, adult dogs only. br-When you arrive, we ask that you leash your dog to show them around the space. This can help with any potential marking behavior. br-We have lots of carpets and rugs, so if there is ANY chance your dog will have an accident, please don't bring them here. br-Dogs are not to be left alone at the property, unless they are crated.br-Please help us stay pet friendly by abiding by these rules!brbrThis is our home, so you will see our things here and there. (Lifejackets included) A 50 feet dock to fish off of. There is a trampoline raft in the water and several floats for all to enjoy. We have croquet set, a bocce ball set and a small volleyball/badminton set that can be set up in the back yard In the winter you can go x country skiing, ice fishing or snowmobiling right out the front door. This is the perfect unpretentious cottage for family fun with 100 feet of frontage on Little Sebago Lake! Enjoy a large lawn that leads to a sandy swimming area. Dock and small (10foot wide) boat ramp makes for easy access to this hidden cove. Cozy cottage has 2 private bedrooms but the ability to sleep ~8 (if you don't mind a snug fit!): 1st room has queen bed, 2nd room has 2 bunks (4 beds total), living room has 2 couches and 3-season-porch has sofa-bed. 2 crib mattresses are under the bunks in 2nd bedroom. Main bedroom overlooks the serene lake. Lower level family room has large comfy sofa, cable TV, half bathroom and washer/dryer. There is a blow up mattress in the laundry area. Family room leads to 3 season porch with French doors to the lake. There is a pull out sofa in the porch but please note: the porch has only supplemental heat (not good for winter/cold nights). Great flat yard for sports or cornhole. Stone patio with fire pit and a unique stone fireplace built in 1953.
