Staying at Gorman Chairback will provide opportunities to hike, bike, ski, fish and paddle out your front door. Your stay supports the AMC’s ongoing conservation efforts.brbrThis fully ADA accessible cabin has a living room, two bedrooms, a bathroom and an unscreened roofed porch with lake views. The living room contains a table and benches, a futon, and a woodstove. The primary bedroom holds a queen bed. The bathroom holds a stall shower, toilet, and sink. The second bedroom has a double bed. Linens and pillows are provided as are wool blankets and bath towels. Cell service is poor and there is no internet available on campus. Electric lights and outlets are available throughout the cabin. Despite electric lights, a headlamp or flashlight is strongly recommended for travel outside your cabin at night. brbrBreakfast, lunch and dinner are included with rental of this cabin. All meals are served in the main lodge which also has a living room which includes a library and small retail store. Breakfast and dinner are served buffet style while lunch is a bag lunch provided immediately after breakfast to take on your adventure for the day. We can accommodate major dietary restrictions.brbrA shared sauna is available upon request at the main lodge.brbrThe drive to Gorman Chairback takes you on gated logging roads which can be difficult to pass after major rain events in early June and late October. The roads are accessed through a gate operated by a third party which closes at 9:00pm. Arrivals after that time are not permitted. RVs, ATV and motorcycles are not permitted past the gate.brbrFree use of our fleet of canoes and kayaks is included in your stay and can be launched off our boat slip on Long Pond. A common sandy swim area is a short walk from your cabin and a there is a swim float a short distance from shore from which you can swim and jump into the lake. If you intend to swim or boat, please bring your own beach towel.brbrThere is a single campfire ring in camp with benches, and chairs. Firewood is provided and staff will light the fire upon request.brbrOur staff is knowledgeable about local recreation opportunities and can point you in the right direction for gravel biking adventures, hiking trips, fishing spots, ski tours and great locations to spot local flora and fauna on land and on the water. Natural history presentations are often offered on site as well.brbrThere is a meeting space available to rent if you have a larger group that would like to have a space set aside.

Built in the 1890's, this Folk Victorian has been restored to honor its history while bringing in a modern North Woods feel. A 3 minute walk to lake access at the end of road and about a 5 minute walk to downtown Greenville or Stobie Airbase. Quiet tree-lined street to serve as your base for boating, ATVing, hiking, birding, and exploring the Moosehead Lake region. After a day of adventuring you can just meander on down to the restaurants, bars, and ice cream shops.brbrA careful removal and replacement of the original stair railing permitted king size beds to be added to the two large upstairs bedrooms. The third bedroom holds a queen size bed. There is a full bath upstairs and downstairs plus a mudroom for storing boots and gear off the kitchen. The spacious living room and dining room area with its inviting forest mural will serve as a wonderful respite when you come in from your adventures.brbrThe backyard contains apple trees and flower gardens - a beautiful spot to enjoy a cookout. And there's plenty of room to park your boat/trailer/ATVs plus cars. Property is on ATV access so no need to trailer, just unload and go! Public boat ramp access is just a 7 minute drive over to Greenville Junction. A few minutes walk to the end of the road brings you to a swim beach and canoe/kayak access to the lake.brbrThis home contains original stained glass windows, millwork from the 1890's and vintage taxidermy. Fox Hall makes a perfect base camp for the hiker, ATVer, birder, or boater who wants to enjoy all Moosehead Lake has to offer.
