A Blue Sky Lodge

Yosemite National Park, California, United States

Yosemite National Park is a neighbor of A Kojoji Hela Koca, where ‘Dress Circle’ seats await you for a direct vista of this national treasure. The lofty ‘Great Room’ and accompanying loft are the perfect spots during any of the four seasons to experience this natural woodland setting with sunlight streaming through the windows. The gourmet kitchen is designed for ease in preparing and enjoying a sumptuous meal while overlooking the park. brbrThis house includes an octagonal tower on two levels, a great room, a large patio, three bedrooms, plus a library with a sofa bed, laundry, and two and a half baths (including a master bath suite). There is a California King bed, a Queen bed, a Full bed, and a pullout full-size bed; there is a Twin sofa bed in the open loft. Comfort and ambiance are provided by ductless heating and air conditioning, along with a gas fireplace and barbecue. Sit on the deck, curl up in a cozy corner, read a good book by the fireside, relax in the claw-foot tub, slow the pace down, reconnect to family and friends. Come and be on the edge of Yosemite National Park in a house made for enjoying life and being a part of a breathtaking adventure.brbrThe Art Deco theme is woven into the wide array of textures and shapes from its exterior octagonal tower to its interior polished granite fireplace wall. A Blue Sky Lodge is a pastiche of many different styles, united in their celebration of the forest just outside its windows. Yosemite National Park is a neighbor of A Kojoji Hela Koca, where ‘Dress Circle’ seats await you for a direct vista of this national treasure. From the lofty ‘Great Room’ with its built-in acoustics, play an instrument in the loft, read a book by the fireplace, do a jigsaw on the granite table, enjoy the sunlight streaming in the windows … and be ready for all that jazz.brbrThe design and interior decoration of this house were influenced by the bold geometric forms of Art Deco; the bright colors of the era; the updated craftsmanship of the furniture; and the exotic styles of China and Japan, India, Persia, ancient Egypt, as well as Incan and Mayan art.brbrCome to the house along its Art Deco railing of steel and timber, reminiscent of Frank Lloyd Wright’s arcs and spheres, and enjoy the international mix of styles, including an exuberance of patterns and subtle pigments… much like the riot of colours within Yosemite in the spring or autumn.brbrEnter A Blue Sky Lodge through its round blue door and get ready for a kitchen built by cooks. Our family’s pastime is cooking, baking…and enjoying a sumptuous meal together. We built the kitchen and granite island, thinking of people who relish the culinary arts and whipping up a flavorful feast in this natural woodland setting. Sit in the Picasso blue dining room chairs to enjoy great meals…while making great memories. brbrThe Master Bedroom on the first floor is a retreat. A chase lounge is adorned in a Breakers Blue Moonlight fabric and provides a place to grab a quick nap before entering the large master bath, complete with a claw-foot bathtub, peacock feathers in a feature wall, and Art Deco tile trim. This includes a recreation of the ‘1920 Flapper Fans’ in the tile baseboard, combined with a classic mix of Egyptian and Mayan motifs in the large walk-in shower.brbrThe upstairs bedrooms have ample closet space to put the bags in and grab the shorts or hiking pants for a long walk. Art Deco overhead lamps and window trim with red oak pyramids continue the theme. Want to get away The library tucked into the 2nd floor is a good start. The ‘whimsical’ loveseats with their Georgio Pewter fabric will keep one guessing on the best seating arrangement for that room.brbrAnd the loft Built for a choir to perform for your small group below. The musical ‘S’ iron railing pattern is a testament to our family’s love of music … along with cooking. The loft has a circular cocktail ottoman wrapped in a metric blue Caribbean fabric that is just right for catching a glimpse of a deer or a chickaree (Douglas squirrel) out its adjacent paned window. brbrAnd the twin high-back chairs facing the glory of Yosemite are perfect for unwinding, getting inspired, doing a bit of thought-provoking writing or sketching of the trees just outside the tower’s 8-sided space.brbrA Blue Sky Lodge (A Kojoji Hela Koca) is like an Art Deco design -- timeless because of its futuristic characteristics, wrapped in a green (or white) blanket of the natural surroundings. Rich color, bold lines, and symmetrical shapes help brand this house as unique. Sit on the deck, curl up in a cozy corner, slow the pace down, reconnect to family and friends. Come and be on the edge of Yosemite National Park, in a house made for enjoying life. brbrNOTE: The name of this house has been carefully selected by our family to remember one of the Native American groups who lived in the Sierra Nevada mountains around what is now known as Yosemite. We also tried to include the Miwok geometric forms and lines in the materials and fabrics we chose, including the horizontal lines, zigzags, small triangles, rectangles, arrowheads and diamond shapes that are found in the designs they created.

Located at the base of Chilnualna Falls (the second-highest vertical drop waterfall in Yosemite) and home to the principal trailheads into the southern Yosemite wilderness, Wawona is also the closest town to the Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias. brWawona has the feel of a small town but is bustling with activity! Over 160 residents, including Yosemite Park employees, live in Wawona and can be seen gathering at the town's community center, playing a pickup basketball game at the elementary school, jogging on one of the many picturesque trails, or simply walking their dogs and baby strollers through the winding residential streets. The historic Wawona Swinging Bridge boasts the best natural water slide in the Park! The historic village is filled with docents, stagecoach rides, horseback rides, and barn dances in the summer season, and the Wawona Meadow Loop offers year-round riparian meadow wildlife viewing.brWawona was known to the local Native American Miwok as Pallachun (a good place to stay). It is located entirely within Yosemite National Park (it preceded the founding of the park as a national recreation area), and is located on the South Fork of the wild and scenic Merced River, on the main highway (State Route 41) from Fresno to Yosemite Valley.brGalen Clark, who helped gain preservation legislation for Mariposa Grove and what later became part of Yosemite National Park, occupied the Wawona area in 1855 and established a tourist rest and modest ranch, which he later sold and made into a hotel and resort property (the Wawona Hotel). The Wawona post office was established in 1878 and was originally called Clark's Station.brThe Redwoods in Yosemite has over 120 vacation rental homes and is proud to say that all of them are located in Wawona. All are within walking distance of everything that Wawona has to offer, and every one of them is surrounded by the majesty of Yosemite National Park!

(A110) Studio Condominiums

Yosemite National Park, California, United States

Our studios have fully equipped kitchenettes with a stove/oven, refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, and toaster. Our studios also offer dvd player, with a free videotape library, river rock propane fireplaces, and private outdoor decks with electric barbeques. A studio is perfect for mom, dad, and a couple of children. We do not recommend a studio for four adults! Please be advised: sofa beds are only acceptable for small children, not for adults, as they are uncomfortable for adults, so we will not guarantee a good night's rest on them.brbrbrbrbrLocated high on top of a mountain at an elevation of 6,000 feet, this 48-unit condominium complex not only offers you great mountain and forest views, but also offers you a great location to start your day from, just minutes from all the main attractions! Our condominiums come in two configurations, studios and lofts. All units come completely furnished and fully equipped with everything you'll need for a comfortable and enjoyable stay.brbrbrbrbrDo you have internet access at any of your home properties Yes, but very limited! Only a few of our home properties have recently been able to receive Internet access. Due to our remote location and the fact that most of our properties are surrounded by tall Yosemite pine and cedar trees, it makes it almost impossible to receive clear satellite signals, and cable isn't available yet in our community. The system we currently have is a satellite-based Internet system, and it is vulnerable to adverse weather conditions. We cannot guarantee Internet connectivity during your stay.
