Near – Yet Far Away brbrSet in the heart of bucolic Bennett Valley, Domaine Bennett Valley, a six-bedroom five and one half-bath estate vacation home, is from 5 to 45 minutes to many of the best Wine Country destinations: Glen Ellen, Kenwood, Santa Rosa, Healdsburg, Sonoma Coast, the Russian River and Napa Valley. brbrDomaine Bennett Valley - Home Base for Your Wine County AdventuresbrbrThis spacious updated 3-level ranch house with copious amenities is perfect for family vacationers, food and wine aficionados, and groups attending weddings and events. The home can accommodate up to ten adults, plus children and pets. It is perfect for those who desire the privacy and views of the countryside, while remaining within close proximity of wineries, restaurants, historic communities, shopping and a multitude of activities.brbrThe two-acre property boasts a salt-water solar heated pool, hot tub, bocce court and fire pit, plus indoor and outdoor kitchens. Both kitchens feature soapstone counter tops and quality cabinetry. Put your culinary skills to work on a Wolf Range indoors and Wolf Grill outdoors – or try your hand with the “Big Green Egg” grill and smoker. Cook together with family and friends in the open concept kitchens. The indoor kitchen design includes white cabinetry, subway tile back splashes, an enormous Farmhouse Sink, and pot filler, as well as pass through to the outdoor kitchen.brbrThe central indoor dining area, anchored by a large farm table with ample seating, is open to the kitchen and living area, stacked stone fireplace and television/entertainment center. The home features hardwood floors in living spaces and hallways and 3 of the 6 bedrooms. East of the living area, step down to a cellar room with wood stove and leather furnishings, one half bath, laundry room, and spacious doggy bath for your canine family members. There is a locked wine cellar to be viewed (but not accessed – it is to remain locked). Please note, the built in ice machine in the kitchen does NOT work. We are on well water and it has proven to be too hard for the ice machine to handle. Guests should plan on bringing own ice. brbrThe West Wing is home to five bedrooms, and four baths. One of the en suite king bedrooms has a work desk and a printer. The main level houses four bedrooms – three king size beds, one queen size bed, one full size bed, and three baths. The queen room is equipped with a crib and changing table for the little ones. One of the main level king size bedroom is an en suite with a bathtub. The owner can provide a pack-and-play and/or bassinet upon request. Upstairs you will find the primary king suite with a balcony and en suite bath (with tub). brbrA poolside casita features a king bed and high-end bathroom. A lush green lawn adjoins the terrace surrounding the pool. Lounge chairs, umbrellas, and a hammock invite you to relax. Next to the bocce court there is a kids play structure with swings, slide, climbing wall and a covered picnic table. Next to the kids play structure there is a seating area to enjoy beautiful views while keeping an eye on your little ones. brbrWildlifebrbrWe are in the countryside so there will be occasional wildlife activity on our property. We do our best to live peacefully with nature and try being respectful of their habitat, but if ever in doubt about safety please do not approach or try to touch.brThere are some insects that come with living in nature: spiders, ticks, ants, flies, bees, etc. We always try to do our best to keep them out of the house, but if the doors are open a lot, they can get in. Please be aware that we occasionally have deer on our property, even with the best attempts to keep them out. There have been garden snakes (small and harmless), California King snake (can bite if threatened but not venomous), Rattle Snakes (dangerous, please do not approach). Please be little more cautious on the field with animals and kids. Watch your step. Ticks are common in Sonoma County, so please do practice daily tick checks. brbrWe have also seen skunks, raccoons and foxes on the property. Please be aware that there might be mountain lion roaming at night. Please don’t let pets out alone at night and no overnight camping in the yard. We have not seen one ourselves yet, but we have had some activity with neighboring homes.brbrVenturing Out brbrRestaurants, wineries, shops, grocery stores, galleries, cultural facilities and events, parks, and hiking trails, are minutes away from Domaine Bennet Valley. Stock up at Whole Foods, Santa Rosa, just 7 minutes from the house. We have a Safeway on Yulupa Ave. Oliver's Markets are popular with locals, as well as the local organic Pacific Market. Pass by Matanzas Creek Winery, noted for iconic world-class chardonnay and lavender, on your way to Santa Rosa. It is less that a five-minute drive from the estate. brbrbrWind through vineyards, farmland and forest to reach Glen Ellen, a charming village, once home to Jack London. Just 15 minutes from Domaine Bennet Valley, the village offers grocery shopping at the well-stocked Glen Ellen Market, with deli and meat market. .The tiny community offering fine dining and ample history is home to Jack London State Park and Benziger Family Winery, known for biodynamic farming practices. The town also features excellent dining including the Glen Ellen Star (reservations suggested). Garden Court Cafe is a great breakfast spot. Take a midway turn before reaching Glen Ellen to visit Kenwood, a wine tasters paradise. Deerfield Ranch Winery also features biodynamic farming and organic wines, along with 40,000 square foot caves. Kenwood is approximately 20 minutes from Domaine Bennett Valley. Travel on from Glen Ellen or Kenwood to Sonoma, home of the Bear Flag Revolt, when California was launched as a state. Historic buildings, restaurants, shops, tasting rooms and the beautiful art deco Sebastiani Theater, surround the eight-acre Sonoma Plaza, laid out in the 1800’s by General Mariano Vallejo,, brbrDowntown Santa Rosa, provides a multitude of dining, cultural, and shopping opportunities. Cotati, with its quaint 60’s vibe, and Rohnert Park, home to Sonoma State College and The Greene Music Center, (providing easy access to Hwy 101), are approximately fifteen minutes in varying directions. brbrWine and dine in Healdsburg, home of Francis Ford Coppola Winery, Roth Vineyards, and Chalk Hill Winery, about a half hour north of Santa Rosa. Hop over the hill to Napa Valley. You will pass by the Petrified Forest and Safari West, arriving in the northern Napa Valley community of Calistoga, where you may opt to slip into one of the area’s thermal heated mud baths. Follow Hwy 29 or Silverado Trail south to St. Helena, Yountville, and Napa. They all have more to offer than one can imagine. For adventurous drivers, one can cross directly over Oakville Grade for a more direct route into the middle of Napa Valley (not accessible for limos).brbrVisit the Pacific Coast, about 40 minutes west of Santa Rosa.
