Private Vacation Home
Waterfront home on sea wall, expansive ocean view
Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
Newly renovated, waterfront home, right on the seawall, 3 patios (two with water views, the third south facing), expansive waterfront views, mountain views, steam shower, two king beds (one with a frame, one frameless), large fully equipped chef's kitchen with back lite natural stone, oak hardwood throughout, heated bathroom tile, smart blinds and lights, two fireplaces, restaurants within walking distance, 5 minute walk to Granville Island, parking.brThe spacebrYou will have the whole townhouse to yourselves. We live here and will make space in the closets for you to put your things but will not be removing all of our personal effects. This means the kitchen will have every gadget you may need - we love to cook. The stairs to our home are literally on the seawall. Our main floor is on the second level, so you have privacy from people walking the seawall and it feels like you are right at the waters edge - it almost feels like being on a houseboat.brbrThe master bedroom has an electric fireplace that heats the room and an ensuite bathroom with a heated floor and steam shower.brbrThe living room has a gas fireplace that heats the main floor, and the main floor has two supplemental electric heaters as a backup.brbrThe main bathroom has an extra deep soaker tub and a heated floor.brThe bedrooms are heated with electric forced fan heaters that can be individually adjusted in each room. The master bedroom is heated by the electic fireplace force fan heater (which has an option for use with out lights so that it can maintain temperature at night without emitting light).brbrThe beds....br1) The master bedroom mattress is extra firm because I have back problems and require a very firm and supportive mattress. If you require a soft mattress - this is not the rental for you. It is an extra firm mattress.brbr2) The second bedroom king bed is a 22" high foam raised mattress on the floor (no bed frame) of medium firmness.brbr3) The bunkbeds also have firm foam mattresses. The bunkbeds are intended for children. I have slept on them comfortably but I only weigh 125 lbs - I am not sure how comfortable they would be for a much heavier person (the king bed in the master bedroom is excellent for heavier people because it is very firm and dense). There is one bunk bed; meaning two single beds stacked. One a couple feet off the ground and one high up. Please note the Canadian Pediatric association does not recommend that children sleep in upper bunks as a safety precaution. Therefore, the top bunk should only be used by someone who will not move around in their sleep.brbrKitchen...brI love to cook. The kitchen is full of gadgets. The knives are sharp. The stove is gas. The countertop is back lite and has an overhang with stools at the peninsula - NO ONE SHOULD EVER LEAN OR SIT ON THE OVERHANG. The counter is natural stone and back-lite (yes, just like that swanky bar downtown that you love) - IF YOU SIT ON THE OVERHANG THE STONE WILL CRACK AND BREAK. It was $60,000 to install it will crack under inappropriate use. I know the view is tempting but NO sitting on the counter top overhang! NO LEANING ON THE OVERHANG UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE!brGuest accessbrYou will have the entire space to yourself. The stairs up to our home, in the front and back, are shared with one neighbouring townhouse. The large private garden, lawn and grove of trees off the back porch are shared with the neighbouring townhouses with chairs for lounging and, in summer only, a BBQ for shared use.brOther things to notebrParties are not allowed. Using our home for commercial purposes is not allowed.brWe are close friends with my neighbours, who share the entryway steps and, who would contact us if there were a party.brSometimes we will be staying at my mothers who lives on the other side of the townhouse complex or on our sailboat in the neighbouring marina.brA party would be ended immediately and you would be asked to leave immediately.brbrWhile you are welcome to come with children of any age... there is no crib, there are hazards such as windows and railings with a 2 storey drop, burning hot fireplaces, cleaning supplies in the laundry room and kitchen, sink drawer with dishwasher detergent, sharp knives in the kitchen and, stairs.brIf you stay in our home with children you are responsible for ensuring their safety at all times.brbrWe are willing to extend the number of guests for the right fit. For example, if you are a couple with grandparents and three children, we can accommodate a third child with a single futon on the floor or you can bring your own crib. We would also be open to an extra adult in certain circumstances - please enquire.brbrFor a modest charge, cleaning services up to 3 days a week can be provided by our trusted personal housekeeper. 100% of this money goes directly to our personal housekeeper. She charges a modest hourly rate and is only available weekday mornings starting mid or late morning. For an extra fee she may be willing to adjust her hours.brbrConcierge services (such as a fridge full of groceries based on a list you provide to us in advance, or a bar stocked with your list of desired alcoholic or other beverages). The cost of this service will only be the cost of your bill, plus the time it takes our personal housekeeper to shop for your items (she charges a modest hourly rate and she can be paid directly via etransfer or in cash).brbrDuring longer stays, of 2 weeks or more. We over a complimentary light cleaning after approximately one week from our trusted personal housekeeper.
